The idea of sending it ananymous is so he won't send it back. He doesn't like to accept donations. Make sure you don't put a return address on your correspondence, otherwise he probably will return it. He's a very proud man, and likes to be independant.
I think a bank check or bank money order is signed by a member of the bank that it's issued from, and not the buyer, so that may be a way to send it anonymously, also. Plus, this way, you'll still have a receipt. Mario did say he used the cash to pay some outstanding bills, so sounds like he will use it to good intent if he gets cash, or something he can't return.
I will call him today, and see if I can get together with him for coffee or lunch, and to see how he is doing, and I'll update you. Thanks for still thinking about him.
