Wonderful, bebu, LDH, LOT, & everyone else! Now all we need is Mario . . .

I've emailed the pastor with links to this thread (pertinent ones.. but not too many, as they can be overwhelming!)

Yes, cruzan... now we need Mario.

LoT, you spoke with a detective from the Providence police dept. Did you get a name? Maybe we can get some "sideways" information about where a "hypothetical" suicide victim might have been taken...

Edited to add, in my email, I asked whether his church would accept donations if they were designated for Mario. If so, that could considerably streamline things

I didn't speak with a detective, I believe Tres did though. I spoke with the Dispatcher who called me back.

That is a good idea. If we can get the name of the Dectective, that might be a good place to start to finding Mario.

I also sent a message to Randy asking him to read this thread and requested moving it to the Scroller on Freeminds so we can get more visibility.

    Small update.

I couldn't get hold of Treshappy, which is a shame because she spoke with someone civil from the police dept... and I got hung up on by a detective! He loves the power of that, I guess.

So I began calling some more hospitals in RI. What's odd is that receptionists will gladly take messages for patients if you speak as though the patient is there. Then, they will interrupt and say, "Oh, wait, he's not here." And that answers that.

I know he's not at Butler, Miriam, RI Hosp, or Eleanor Slater. Certain other hospitals were unlikely just due to their patient focus (women, children, obstetrics, insurance-only, etc.). I suspect he is in the St. Joseph Hospital system, and more precisely, at the Our Lady of Fatima hospital (due to a comment a receptionist from Butler made the other day; she listed several possibilities). But they did not affirm nor deny he was there. I left a message with them to give him which went, "Bebu has found some local support for you. Private message me when you are out please!" I was afraid to make the note long... otherwise I would have said, ((((((((((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))))))))

I wonder if it would be wise to have some others leave mesages for him, whose names he would recognize from the board? It could happen that you find out that he isn't there after all (the nurse might actually say he isn't) in the process. If so, think how to give a short, positive message...

I found the number to link to the Pioneers in the east Coast, still a bit more tracking to do to get a contact. Of course they are saying to verify the new, police records, and validate the story, but I am sending parts of the postings to the head of our chapter and am on it. With validation, she will help. I have photo shoot now, but will get back with the actual link and maybe a number tonight. To many things so little time.

Going thru the worst time of my life right now, and after reading all this, I feel so insignificant. So with that said, go take care of necessarry evils at home, then of course I will get more details, numbers and links...

They will also give that response if the patient is 'Confidential'. My brother was admitted to a hospital following a violent attack. The hospital's response about him was: 'I have no record of anyone by that name.' I saw this happen and I was standing right there. Operator explained that 'Confidential' patients were flagged differently in their system.

Friends who came to visit him were to go directly to his room. If they even mentioned his name or his room # they were escorted elsewhere and 'assisted' by someone who had access to the computer and then told: "Sorry. I have no record of anyone by that name."

Aude, the nurses I spoke with were actually sympathetic. They really didn't sound like they were telling me a canned line at all. The other day when I called Butler, I explained to the nurse that I was trying to locate a person but knew the laws were going to restrict information; I would just leave a message and requested it be forwarded IF he were there. The nurse asked his name and told me, "Well, don't bother; from our computer records I can see he's not here." I got some similar responses from other hospitals. They were listening to my message to relay, and then interrupted me...

But your experience makes me wonder... if relaying messages is against this law as well?

BTW, I asked Lady of Fatima if they admitted suicide attempts; they said yes. I heard a comment the other day that Providence Hospital (which I cannot find) or Lady of Fatima were good possibilities; this was from an inpatient hospital for women (suicide attempt).
