Not a Jehovah's Witness, but studying.

Does this handbook have a name? Would the elder that I am studying with be surprised that I would know of such a book? And if I asked about it, and their policy on child molestation, would they still persue me if I quit studying on the grounds that I felt my children would be in danger?

If you are saved then you don't need the JW's. Read Romans chapter 10. Read it in any bible but the New World Translation. You will see that, there is a big difference in what thier bible says and what ALL other bibles say. THey changed the bible. They put Jehovahs's name in place of Jesus. Check out in the Greek inter-linear that they have (it's a purple bible) read it under the direct translation word for word and then their translation. Romans 10:13 says everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Now you might say who is the Lord. Well read the preceding verses. I like to start at the beginning of the chapter. You will see it is the Lord Jesus Christ, not Jehovah. In fact they will admit that they added Jehovah's name into the New Testament, that it was not there. They say it's because the people during that time removed it because it was too holy. OR they were superstitious. Now do you think an all-powerful God would allow his name to be omitted from a book about him. I don't think so. Also you asked about the little crowd going to heaven and the great crowd. Read Hebrews chapter 11, it talks about men and women of faith. A witness will tell you that All these people will be resurrected here on earth that they did not have a heavenly hope. Well if you read Hebrew 11: 14-16 it tells a different story. They of course have changed the wording to suit their purpose, but if you have a NIV or King James Bible you will see the real truth. Also there is a web site 607v587.com and it tells you all about how they came up with the 1914 date. And you will see they again made up the dates to suit their purpose. THey will say that they looked to 1914 to be a marked year since the late 1800's but that is in fact a lie. Read some of their old literature you can find it on various web sites. Many people have died due to their publications, back in the 30's - 50's they told them not to take vaccinations, later it was no organ transplants- they said it was cannibalism, no blood or blood products. All of these teaching have now been changed. People died because they thought that this so called Faithful and Discreet slave was being led by God. Only to change what they wrote years later and they called it NEW LIGHT. Now what about the people that died because they went by what they had said, their reply will be well at least they were faitful to the last and they will be rewarded for that. That is such bull!!! IF you had a child and allowed him or her to die due to one of these teachings and they then had NEW LIGHT and you would have been able to save your child how would you feel. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. I can only tell you I was raised an Episcopalian. At the age of 21 I started studying, my husband encouraged this because he was raised a witness and believed it though he was not baptised. I didn't do research like I should have (we didn't have the internet back then) and I spent the next 15 years in the organization raising my children in this cult ( and it is truly that) Now thank god he opened my eyes and me and my husband and children are out. But not without scars. Please read your bible not theirs! Do research, pray that your eyes are opened. I will pray for you too!

    Hi

Yes, something about "shepherd the flock" - someone else should be able to give you the full title.

They would be surprised you knew because you are not baptised. Many baptised JWs know it exists but haven't read it. I've had JWs ask me to print it off for them from the net because they know that the elders won't show it to them!

They would try to persuade you to carry on attending and studying but overall they will leave you alone if you state you no longer want them to visit. If you state categorically that you don't want them to call at your house ever again - they have a list of houses they routinely "miss" and will just add you to that list.

    Hi Scoobie and welcome aboard!

My husband and I were JW's for over 4 decades. We left about 4 years ago (you can read why under my topics; but it's a long read). My advice is only this:

RUN RUN RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!

    (My totally unbiased opinion!)

I know all religious organizations have their problems with sexual abuse. The catholic priests and their molesting of young boys. But it seems that the JW's have a big problem with this as well. Is that correct? I don't ever recall hearing alot of talk in the Baptist religion about child abuse or molestation. In retrospect, probably because gossip is rampant in the Baptist religion, and Southern Baptist is made up of good ole boys who would strng anyone up who did that. Not to say it doesn't happen though

It's worse because they cover it up. For everyone, not just priests. Go to this site www.silentlambs.com

Here is another story. It's about my brother. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/38146/1.ashx .

    Aloha Scooby,

I was a witness for 20 plus of my adult years (not raised as one). I joined up after being "love bombed" by them during a time in my life when I was suffering from severe post-partum depression. I surfaced sometime last year when I could no longer be in denial of the things that were taking place in the Organization. Many people have suffered greatly because of allowing this religion to take control of their lives. I never commited a WT sin except to love people who were not JWs (this included my non-JW husband of several years and our daughter). For this I was persecuted by the WT religion. It has divided my family in many ways as I have a sibling who is still in there. It's a long and painful story, but mine pales in comparrison to what has happened to some here. Please read on and save you and your family a lot of heartache. You sound like a nice person. Continue to seek goodness in your life, don't let this Organization waste your time that could be better spent in doing something worthwhile, whether it be helping others in your community or within your own family circle.

    Scoobie,

More than likely those who study with you would deny what we are saying about Child molestation and point to how they condemn child abuse and support family...but the facts don't back them up. There was a 20/20 episode a few years ago that exposed what happens if you go against the elders on this issue. SILENT LAMBS was organized by a JW Elder who stepped down because of the Society's position...I've met the man several times....the web site is linked with LOTS of stories.

The Elder would indeed be suprised that you know about the Elder's "Shepherd" book that has been linked. They would also know you're cruising the internet and reading "apostate" web sites and warn you against the "lies". Go on, try it, mention it and see. In fact, mention you're looking at different web sites both pro con and neutral and see what reaction you get. That should in and of itself be a warning...they don't want to be looked at under any light except the light they provide.

    Hello Scoobie---and welcome!

I was a JW 30 years and saw many things that were unGodly and unscriptural throughout those years. I, too, was "love-bombed" and ate it up, only to discover it all ended after baptism. So many things that I saw or heard about, were told to leave it to Jehovah, so I did. Nothing changed and some terrible stuff was going on.

Not only the behavior of other JWs was at hand (we were always told that we are imperfect and must make allowances---but to me---sin was sin, but oh well) but the crediblity of the WTS itself became questionable to me after several years.

The many times they predicted the "end" was near (giving dates) and then when the times went by---say they didn't predict it after all---and it was the brotherhood that "misunderstood". The flip-flop of many teachings that were printed in magazines and were taught as "food from God" (as they like to say) that were revised and or totally changed later----and presented as "new light" from God.

The WTS lies to folks, and deliberately deceives them, to APPEAR to be te most "righteous" religion in the world.....but their past history and their behavior (as wel as that of the members) are no better or no different than any other religion. The fact that they boast about being the ONLY channel on earth that gets their Spirit from God----and that EVERY other religion is under the control of Satan----gives you an idea how arrogant they are!

The worst thing I ever did was to accept that "free home bible study" that has ended up destroying my family......I am SO SORRY that I ever got involved with the WTS. Like somebody earlier brought out---it IS like a marriage where you are going into it with certain promises and expectations---only to discover the guy is a lying rat that does nothing but take, take, take from you and when you've had enough---he has the ability to wreck the rest of your life and that of your family. It's taking years to get out from under the pile of rubble that I was left with and try to build a new life----minus many relatives and 30 years worth of friends.

PLEASE go slowly if you DO decide to continue with this at all........

    hugs,

    Annie
