    Hi Scoobie, and WELCOME!

I don't post very often but visit this site quite a bit. You see, I have family members who are JW's, also my

daughter has friends who are. I have learned so much for this site, just as you are, and will continue to.

Briefly let me say, you will be so much better off to stop attending, right now. Don't even try to drift away.

The hurt that is caused by the teachings of the "church" known as the WTS is sad and damaging. Once you

are baptized, forget it...you will have no chance of being the same person you once were.

My own nephew and niece and their children stood OUTSIDE their own father's funeral service because they

could not join in with the rest of us Christians. Who are the hypocrites here? As you can tell, I don't think highly

of this group and will be glad to talk with you anytime. I suggest you search and go to anything different, I am sure

where you live there are hundreds of other churches and just visiting one each weekend will open your eyes, good and bad.

But, that is what you won't have in the Kingdom Hall...Open Eyes. Good Luck and God Bless you. It is refreshing to know

you are wanting to do the right thing with your family, just find the right way, not this way!

If my child was ever DF'd would I still be allowed to associate with them?

No, unless they're dependant on you. If this is the case, then you are not allowed to discuss spiritual matters with them.

    1.)What is dud or DUD?

I'm guessing you mean "dub". It's basically short for "JW" or the first syllable of the name of the letter "W".

2.) I still don't understand or fully agree with the whole God's kingdom coming in 1914 can anyone explain that theory? I am just finding it hard to grasp. it seems rather far fetched. They have done the math for me more than once and it's something I still don't get.

Most people don't understand it, so don't feel bad. Even if you don't understand it, you're supposed to accept it. According to JWs today, when World War I broke out, that's when Satan the Devil was cast out of heaven, and this event caused the beginning of the end of this system of things (if that makes any sense). According to JWs before 1914, that was the year armageddon was supposed to come.

3.)The "small flock" is something else I don't get. Some of us are going to heaven and some aren't? I can understand, grasp, and see in the bible that there is a good chance that we are not meant to live in heaven. But no one has been able to exlain to me how this "flock" knows that they are one of the one's going to heaven. The only explanation is that "they know" They can't explain how, they just know.

There's a guy on here who used to be one of the anointed (Amazing1914). He has explained this in detail before. Apparently, you just know that you're one of the anointed, just like you know that you're a boy or a girl. You just feel it.

4.) What are the views of sexual activity with in a marraige?

You should really pick up a copy of the book "Crisis of Conscience" by Raymond Franz. He's an ex-member of the Governing Body. He goes into detail about how the Org flip flopped on this subject. I'm not sure what the official stand on this is now, but I believe you still can't have oral or anal even in marriage.

YES FOR SURE, read Crisis of Conscience and In Search Of Christian Freedom. Both are by Ray Franz. He was a member of the Governing Body and nephew of one of the Society's presidents...Fred Franz...the "translator" of the New World Translation...even though he had no degree in language.

    Hi Scoobie! Welcome to JWD!

I'm so happy you are researching this cult and not blindly going along with it. PLEASE continue to do research and soon you will have enough information to make a decision.

I recommend reading Crisis of Conscience by Ray Franz. He was a JW for 60 years and was a member of the Governing body(tm) and wrote a book about his experiences and the inner workings of the JW Org. He also explains the 1914 thing very well.

The reason you can't understand it is that is a big lie and they have to cling to it because without the 1914 doctrine there is no Faithful and Discreet Slave! Without that doctrine they can't push you around and guilt trip you into following their orders. There is nothing wrong with you for not being able to get your head around some of these insane doctrines. That tells me you are still able to think with your own mind!

I was disfellowshipped 18 years ago. My mother who is a very active and indoctrinated JW rarely speaks to me. It's been 7 years and I miss her every day. Could a god of love really want this for a mother and daughter? Could I really be that bad/immoral whatever? I think not. Not the god I pray to anyway!

I also recommend reading a book by Steven Hassan or at least doing an internet search on the 8 criteria for a mind control cult. You might discover that the JW's meet all 8 criteria!

Please help you kids to see the real picture of the JW's also. They are young and impressionable and it would be so sad to lose them to a cult and to never enjoy Christmas with them again.

Good luck to you! Keep reading!!

Much of the information I have gathered here so far is very interesting and eye opening. I am especially concerned about the child molesting. If I am to understand this correctly. If my child is molested by a JW and there are no witnesses. Or (and I don't know how this is even possible) If there is only one witness......then nothing is done concerning the molesting of my child?

If I ask the people I am studying with (one of them being an elder) about this......what will they say? Will they deny it? Or will they say it's true? If they deny it, is there any kind of handbook that the elders go by that I can ask to see, where it would state the real laws about this matter that they are hiding from me?

There is a handbook that the elders go by, but you're not allowed to see it. In fact, many JWs don't know about this book. Most likely, they'll deny the child molesting problem, telling you that it's all lies and half-truths created by the media and apostates (ex-members). Again, there is an entire website that deals with this issue http://www.silentlambs.org

Hi Scoobie - Welcome to the board!

    You said:

How then can we believe that he would expect us to do that to our own children? The answer I received of course, was no. I would not have to ignore my children. Is this true? If my child was ever DF'd would I still be allowed to associate with them?

I think you will find the article in the August 2002 "Our Kingdom Ministry" of interest. There are scans of it here:

    http://www.randytv.com/howtotreatdf.htm

I think you will find the direction from the WT Society is not what your local elders told you. Also of interest is how the KM article quotes previous Watchtowers as reference authorities.

I am fortunate - my JW parents do not shun me. Most here aren't so lucky.

    Scoobie,

The elders have a "handbook" but guess what? Its a secret handbook that only elders can read!

There are copies online though nowadays which serves to really p*ss them off! LOL
