Not a Jehovah's Witness, but studying.

The one thing that they do differently when it comes to child abuse is they cover it up, because 'god' will judge everyone accordingly. Despite that being illegal, they feel 'above the law'. Now, they're rhetoric has changed... they say that they do not hide the abuser.

    Utterly false in the past.

Bill Bowen gave up everything for his beliefs! Although some narrow-minded people criticize what he has done, he fights on for those who have been molested and had the whole thing covered up. I call that type of person a hero.

The truly sick thing about the Jehovahs Witnesses is how they trash other religion. I was needy, and found 'the truth' (witness term for believing what they say). Unfortunately, I shut out silentlambs, and never found out the real truth of what happened. My point being, they feel that they have the 'divine' right to criticize the catholic church, when they are more guilty than the catholic church when it comes to sexual abuse! Hypocrites!

Remember, they're trap of rhetoric. They will tell you that they are an 'imperfect' organization. (remember the term organization, and listen when they use that term.... sound cultish?) Bollocks.

Some things to think about, and keep asking questions. If not here, check out the many fine websites that deal with witnesses.

It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and are not going to be taken in by this trash. You should also check out the kids book that they have where people are dying and screaming.... I don't have a link, but maybe someone can post the picture on this thread for you. Considering the audience it is meant for (young young children), you can't tell me they are scaring people into 'believing'.

Utterly false now, too. They say they cooperate. But only if It is in a state or country that has mandatory repoting laws. Even then they do if it does'nt stand up to their own "two witness rule" How many child molestings have two witnesses, not including the molester or molested?

    It's just bullshit lip service.

I'd sooner recommend burying your face in a pile of poop and taking a big, succulent wiff of it. Breathe in deep and just let the pleasant aromas and tastes saturate your entire being . Trust me, there is more spiritual food and nourishment in a pile of poop than in the entire Watchtower library.

When approaching this particulair pile of poop, everything appears calm and tranquil on the surface. But upon closer inspection, you'll notice some irregularities. Like the way it smells, the flys buzzing around it, etc. The same goes for the Watchtower society. Instead of diving in head first, try poking it with a stick at first, to see the consistency of what it's made of. You'll find soon enough there is nothing there of any value. At least dog-shit can be converted into methane gas, a useful energy source. What can you do with a bunch of old JW books? Yard sale? Hardly.

How do I, or we I should say...tactfully explain that we are no longer intersted. They have spent much time studying with us. Our children are class mates and friends........though I'm sure they won't be allowed to be friends if we say we don't want to study. The books they have given us. I can't give half of them back, as they have been written in. The elder we are studying with is my husbands Genaral Manager at work. Any suggestions on how to say thanks but no thanks after about four months of study and the situation with my husbands work? Oddly enough, my husband tried to tell the elder just the other day that he didn't want to study anymore. And the elder was ok with that. His wife was the one that stepped in, asked some questions, made some statements, and my husband agreed to continue his study.

They are JWs they don't care that much. You are the one with the investment anxiety not them. Tell them the truth. "I have been on the internet and I disagree with the ethics of your religion even though a agree with some doctrinal issues." Put the ball in their court. Tell them if they change look you up.

And btw the watchtower changed the stance on voting and birthdays/holidays but the JWs are feeling stubborn to practice the changes.

The watchtower changed their stance on voting and birthdays/holidays? saying it's ok to do both? Is there a copy of that decision anywhere that I could read and possibly reference when I talk to them?

Be straight forward and blunt. "Hey, you're nice people, we appreciate the time you've put in, but we don't believe this. We're going to look at some other church. Thanks.

Tell them firmly you have decided not have any more studies. They will try and talk you out of it but stand firm. I fthe children are no longer friends because of your choice ,that just proves what the jws are all about. Tell them they may have the books back and can give them to a child or someone else, usually they don't take them back

I cannot stress to you that you have to be firm in telling them you do not want to study anymore. If you leave the door open for them they will not give up.

Welcome Scoobie. I see you're from Florida. I'm from Tallahassee. Where do you reside? I began studying the Watchtower's explanation of what the Bible says and means (they call it a Bible study) in 1958. After thoroughly confusing myself and family, we were baptized. Remained nearly 8 years. But I had doubts and questions all along. It came to a head at the beginning of 1966. I questioned the so call Witness succession from Jesus to Charles Taze Russell and other beliefs while at Bethel and was charged with apostasy. Catholics claim apostolic succession ( that their church leaders go back all the way to Peter.) I think they make a better case historically in tracing their Popes than the so-called Witness succession. Have Jehovah's Witnesses tell you who these Witnesses were through the ages before Russell. I have yet to have any of them tell me. If they mention Arians, Albigensians, Waldenses, the Reformers and others, point of fact is that these people might agree on one or two points with the Witnesses, but none of them believe exactly what the Watchtower says today. If God gave mankind the New Testament two thousand years ago, why could no one understand it until the founder of the Watchtower Society came along? God might as well have waited until 1879 to give the Bible rather than do such a nonsensical thing. Another point of fact. Russell believed in some things (the Cross, celebrating birthdays and holidays, he placed a lot more emphasis on Jesus than do present Witnesses) that were he alive today would be disfellowshipped by the Society if he didn't toe the Watchtower line. Returned home (Louisiana at the time) and when I refused to go before a judicial committee was disfellowshipped and shunned by family. But what they thought a curse for me ended up being a blessing. I have never set foot back in a Kingdom Hall since and never will again. Gone are the doubts. Gone is the confusion. Freedom is worth the price. Get out of Babylon (it is a religion of continuous revision, so called new light, leading to constant confusion) before you are completely suckered in.

Do any of you believe anything that is taught in this religion? For example, there being no hell, the non existance of a trinity, paradise earth as opposed to heaven....etc. I know alot of it is too far fetched for me to agree with. Like the little flock thing and the 1914 theory, as well as no birthdays or holidays. Is there any truth in what they teach at all?
