It *is* sorta ironic when you think about who it was that brought up the matter of ignorance. Here Nickey comes along to share an event from her life and another one (others) separated both in space and time speaks with authority as to what is and isn't true about that event. Reminds me of some people I used to hang out with.

And no, rem, Nickey's mathematical example wasn't /isn't a logical fallacy. I think it might help you if you look up the word "analogy." And while you have that dictionary out, look up the word "arrogant" while you're at it.

p.s. Six, I don't know what's happened, but you used to say something funny every once in a while.

I do think that logansrun is a bit harsh at times, but I totally agree with some of the things he said:

Like I stated, it is my opinion. Nothing will change it.

Enter an absolutely uncritical mind. This statement above is so damning of your thinking skills that I'm beside myself. I honestly have no opinion that is unchangeable. If I were given real evidence that the sun actually moves around the earth I would then change my mind about the heliocentric model of our solar system. It's a long shot, but it is theoretically possible. Your experience with this "spirit" is immeasurably less documented and proven than that and yet you say you will never change your mind! Amazing.

Who can disagree with his words? For someone to say that nothing will change their opinion, shows close-mindedness imo.

Also, I think it very rude to say that someone should be kicked off, just because they strongly disagree with you. Especially if you make lots of statements that people with disagree with.

yeah it was going pretty good but some people like Rem and logansrun seem to always get there nasty mouths in it. If there were two people here I would like to see kicked off this board it would be those two.

    Good Mourning all,

Well after reading all the replies to this thread this mourning I can and will say this.

    Rem,

First of all this is not the first time you have attacked a poster, I have read many where your first to start insults to other people. You something man you gotta a long way before you are gonna realize your not the smartest person on this board. It does not matter if someone here is ignorant or not, they are here just like you and they got reasons just like you, so the point in all this is PULL the turd outta yur own eye before you pull sliver outta someone elses.

Now I will go to my grave knowing full well what I seen, the images of it still planted firmly it is so clear. I remember that little girl walking past me like it just happened seconds ago.

Some have asked if I have had other experiences. Yes I have had another one.

In 1997 I moved into a house owned by my brother-in-law and sister. The house was built in 1905. I was sitting in my easy chair one evening watching TV when I notice on the couch sitting right next to me was a man. I looked over at him and when he noticed that I noticed he got up walked across the room and went through the door into my office room. Several days later I was in bed and I was reading a some of a book before sleep and I felt a strange feeling like I was being watched and I looked up and here was this man spirit standing in my door way. I was not sure if I should tell anyone because the house was for sale and I wanted it sold.

Well here is the kicker ; The house sold about 6 months later and the lady of the house asked if anyone had ever reported seeing ghost in the house before and I had told my mom about it before when it had happened and so my mom told this lady that bought the house that her son had reported seeing something. Now my mom being a JW of course said that they were demons but they were not harming me in anyway they were just there.

I have had a couple of experiences with ghosts...the first was when I was 14 and my grandmother died. The thing is that no-one knew she had passed yet. I was wide awake that night and saw my closet door open, out came my grandmother dressed in her favorite coral dress, she came over and kissed me on the forehead and said "I love you". That was it, I wasn't scared for some reason, but sad.. I knew what had happened. the next morning my grandfather called to tell us that my grandmother passed in her sleep the previous night, before he could even finish telling me, I said "I know".

The second experience wasn't a "sighting" but it was strange. I had went to the cemetary with my Mom to bring flowers to my Step-Dad's mothers grave. She watched as I sat there not blinking, but talking out loud to a "person". I was laughing and carrying on like it was a normal conversation. She said I did that for about 10 minutes, then after, snapped out of it and to this day don't remember what happend.

I told a friend of mine once about those two incidents, she told me that they were demons and no way it was real. I hate to say it, I was crushed...I ended up coming down with a nasty flu and couldnt even go to my grandmother's funeral, it was my only chance to say good-bye.

Ever since I was little, things like that have happend to me. I also have "dreams" that come true. I once had a dream that a man was stalking me and was trying to kill me. My Mom, out of concern took me to the police station so I could tell them. They told me not to worry, but gave me the phone number to call "just in case" At the time, we didn't have 911 available. Two days later, I was home alone and the phone rang. I got a weird feeling, so I didn't answer it...the man ACTUALLY left a message saying "I know you are home all alone, I am going to break in, find you, rape you, kill you, and rip every single bone out of your body" (I aplogize to anyone who finds it disturbing, I still do). I have never run so fast out of my house. I went to a friends to calm down and waited until my Mom was supposed to come home, I hid in the back yard since I didn't see her car there. A strange car pulled up and a guy got out with a gun and tried to break in. A neighbor called the police and he heard the sirens coming...he took off. The last I heard, he was arrested for child pornography and has been in jail since (this was around 1990).

Sorry, that was off topic but it got me thinking how many "strange" things have happend.

    Thanks for listening

    What up, Stinky?

You have to keep in mind who it was that started the thread and what the topic is. Nickey shared with us a pivotal event in her life -- pivotal enough for her to make a post about it. I remember pivotal events like that and my opinion of those events won't change today, years later. You have those kinds of events, too.

In the past there are things you experienced that you have definite opinions about. How would you view someone who'd say that you have a closed mind (or are ignorant) because your opinion of that event is what it is? I don't think you'd like it, and had I seen it I'd be speaking up for you.

    >>>> Also, I think it very rude to say that someone should be kicked off, just because they strongly disagree with you. Especially if you make lots of statements that people with disagree with.

Agreed. I think it's wrong to seek someone's removal from the forum simply for having a different point of view. That would be crazy and the forum wouldn't last more than two minutes. More than a simple disagreement happened, IMO. I know that Bradley is your friend, but he and rem went too far. Sometimes it's okay to just accept people's opinions without trying to teach them a lesson or make a point. After all, that's why we come here -- for acceptance and understanding, not reproof.

Edited to add: p.s. Good to see you back on the board. We missed you.

    stinkypantz,

What Nicky was saying is this simply ; she seen something, she saw it with her own eyes, just like me. When you see something that is clear and plain, its to the point. If you seen a ALIEN walking in front of you would you not say I know what I seen ? Or would you just ignore it and deny it ?

If you witnessed a murder do you go into court and say no I didnt see that ? Or do you tell it like it was ?

    OK,

I don't believe in ghosts, I don't believe in the Bible, I'm having a hard time believing in God - but the following is a true story. It happened to me!

When I was around 11-12 years old my mum had purchased me some new bedroom furniture, but it wouldn't fit into my bedroom so mum and dad said they'd be prepared to swap rooms with me. Eventually settled in my new room and with my window open to let in fresh air I tried to drop off to sleep. Suddenly, BANG! I nearly jumped out of my skin and quickly rushed over to my bedroom window and looked out at the well-lit street below. There was no-one there.

I got back into my bed and then thought to myself "I bet it was that stupid R----- G------ (a neighbour behind my house). I bet he's got a gun!"

Next day all the neighbours were complaining because the person in question did have a gun, a shotgun, and he'd fired it off! This is important. So, getting back to my story: I got back into bed still cursing that this twit had shot his gun off when, suddenly, from the right-hand corner of the room, opposite my bed, a deep voice slowly said "EE-YUN" (phonetically, my name's Ian).

I froze. I knew what I'd heard. I was WIDE awake (the gunshot proved that!). I had a cold sweat on me and then - it said it again, "EE-YUN".

Well, I was down those stairs quicker than a ferret down a rabbit hole. I grabbed my dog, brought him upstairs and kept him on the bed with me all night. Frightened? You bet!

I told my mum the next day and she said: "You know, Ian, I've always felt there was something strange about the room." Yikes!

Well, I stayed in that room and nothing ever happened again .......... but!

One day I was walking towards the bus stop when I spotted a man who used to live opposite our house. He'd been there for as long as I can remember, but had recently moved. I approached and said "Hello, Mr. Watkins".

He turned to me and kindly said:"My name is Watkins, but I don't know you."

I said, "Oh yes you do, I lived opposite you at number 19, Ennerdale."

He replied "19, Ennerdale! Oh, yes. I remember, before you moved in someone hanged themselves there".

OK, I don't believe in ghosts as I said. But all I've related here is true - and I can't explain it.

If ghosts were real, they could be proven with repeatable scientific tests

Isn't it more accurate to say that as of yet science has not been able to substantiate the existence/non-existence of ghosts/spirits etc. Why do you believe that science is at its apex and will not advance to other levels where we will be able to test such events - or not? I think it's rather limiting to definitely state one way or another based only on what can be reproduced by science at this point in time.

    acsot,

Do you honestly think that Science is perfectly accurate?
