Apostate is anyone who leaves their former religion.-- That include the founder of the jw's, Russell.

That includes Jesus, the greatest Apostate that ever lived.

Hi there and welcome, i hope you linger here

You are in a situation that you must make the most of: OUT OF THE ORGANIZATION

Before you jump back in i hope you both use the time to do what you will not be allowed to do after reinstatment:

TAKE A GOOD HARD LOOK AT THEM FROM OUTSIDE THE WINDOW. Read what is forbidden, question everything.

    I agree with tec

"But Christ said: "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?" "

You were not shown real love, because as soon as you appeared to break the rules the 'love' vanished. Love does not behave this way.

For as long as you justify the organisation in your minds you will continue to be hurt.

I have to say, if the Elders block your return, as they plan, they will be doing you a great favor. From what you have been saying, you still need more time to see all this for what it really is.

welcome , my heart goes out to you as i can identify with so much you have said , i had an affair as a study with a pioneer , i was a married woman with children and i was so messed up and wanted to go back to meetings ! the guilt , shame and humiliation nearly destroyed me ! years later my eldest child was abused and raped as a child by a ex min servant who had not been reported to the police after abusing in the congregation years earlier ! i have had to cope with her self harm and eating disorder and ptsd ever since so i understand how hard it must be for you and your husband im so sorry for you , if i can help in anyway just pm me , i still believe in god now but im a much happier person after doing research and realising i was fooled into thinking it was "the truth " just like many are , try reading books about people in other religions like not my idea of heaven by lynsey rosa . take care , best wishes looloo xxx

A lot has been said and probably will be said still.

All I can add is that anyone who allows an organization made up of imperfect individuals to dictate who they can and cannot associate (even saying hello) with does not understand how under the influence their thinking is.

Your loved ones love you but they withhold that love because imperfect individuals tell them to. Imagine, that with the stroke of a pen those same imperfect men could undo all the pain and damage done to millions because of this doctrinal belief.

You owe it yourself, your husband and the children to investigate the Bible's viewpoint on disfellowshipping. Pray, read, study and meditate on this doctrine learning as much as you can from all sides to determine its validity. Like a judge in a court case look at all sides of the issue before deciding whether you feel this is an appropriate understanding of the Bible.

Remember, there is freedom with Christ. He said he would lighten our load not increase it to an unbearable amount. He died for us while we were sinners, he didn't wait for individuals to be as good as possible first.

I will pray for you and your family.

I've decided that this is not the place for me. I do appreciate the words of support so thank you for that. But I am very turned off by what goes on here and after reading about the rise of the 'concious class' I want nothing to do with this site.

I have decided that I am going to bite the bullet - if it takes years for us to be reinstated, so be it. We are going to do everything we can to regain Jehovah's favour. Whether we get back our standing in mens eyes, really should not be our focus. Our relationship with Jehovah is what matters and I have faith that He will work out the rest, even though some things are hard to understand and may even seem unfair right now.

This site is addictive but after exploring what it has to offer over the past day or so, I just have a very negative impression. It's like a car accident - you're horrified but somehow it's hard to tear your eyes away...

I meant to suggest that you should consider reading the bible, particularly the NT, in a version that is not the same as the NWT. I use the NIV, and I find it quite accurate, as well... there are footnotes along the bottom rendering alternate translations when there are differences between manuscripts. But I think you will find a much clearer picture of Christ and the love/mercy/forgiveness he taught in another translation.

I'm sorry to see you go. I understand that this place can seem quite harsh in places. But you should remember that many of these people have been treated with as little compassion as you, and many times been condemned even when they have been innocent. They have lost families and loved ones because of it. So some harshness, while sad and regrettable, is understandable. People have to find peace outside the organization that promised it and instead condemned them, in order to let go of that bitterness, and that takes time - especially when apologies or amends are rare (if they happen at all).

    Just something to think about.

I hope the best for you and your husband, and that you find both Christ and peace.

Hiding in a close with your eyes closed will not help you, your husband or your child in the long run. You can go back to the cult and live imaginary fantasy for a while but once you start getting older you will regret not examining the cult that you cherish. It might have been harder to find the truth even 10 years ago, but not today. All of watchtower publications are scanned for the world to see. The court documents and archeology doesn't conspire against watchtower. One last time I hope you take this oppertunity to reserch watchtower history.

It's sad to see people willing to suffer for a cult without even examining it even though they have a chance to do so. Going back is like an abused wife going back to her abusive husband for more because she feels it's her fault that he beats her.

I won't be surprised if she comes back. Once you are on here, it's hard to get off. Good luck to her and hers.
