Every time I have seen you on this site, you accuse people of "ignorance", "immaturity" and so on. Then I saw this comment of yours:

"So, if all groups ARE flawed, what about the one Jesus said would be preaching the Good News of the KINGDOM world wide?"

With the greatest respect, this is the most ignorant thing I think I have ever seen you post. Are you actually seriously attempting to say that the message Jesus preached and the message the Witnesses preached is the same, or even similiar - that there will be a paradise earth ruled over by 144,000 kings?!!!! Why not allow your own "prophet-like" organisation to tell you what the "Good News of the KINGDOM" is:

    *** w79 12/15 pp. 5-6 How Powerful Is The Good News? ***
OF ALL the messages published throughout the centuries, the “good news” set forth in the Holy Scriptures has had the greatest motivating power for good. The Bible refers to it as “the good news of the kingdom,” “the good news about Jesus Christ,” “the good news of the undeserved kindness of God,” “the good news of God,” “the good news of peace” and the “everlasting good news.” (Matt. 4:23; Mark 1:1; Acts 20:24; Rom. 15:16; Eph. 6:15; Rev. 14:6) This “good news” is primarily the message that salvation or everlasting life is possible on the basis of genuine faith in the atoning benefits of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, and that God’s kingdom by Christ will bring all things on earth into perfect unity with the holy heavens. (Acts 4:12; Rom. 1:16; Eph. 1:7-14) Why does that message have a powerful effect on those accepting it?

Jesus and the apostles preached that - not this mongrel Adventist message that you state is a fulfillment of prophecy. To state that is to be ignorant.

    Love to you and yours

MadJW stated: "So, if all groups ARE flawed, what about the one Jesus said would be preaching the Good News of the KINGDOM world wide?"

    My response:

Who was the group that was preaching the good news of the kingdom worldwide in 1600? In 1500? In 1400? In 1300? etc... According to the Witnesses, nobody was, right? So who are we to say that somebody is necessarily doing it now?

Sure, there are lots of groups that are preaching various things worldwide--for example, the Mormons preach the Bible + book of Mormon; evangelicals preach their gospel, Catholics teach their gospel, JWs teach their gospel, etc. They all teach something different and they are all wacky and crazy in my humble opinion.

So, really the Witness argument is this: nobody else is teaching the Witness/Watchtower gospel worldwide. Well, duh! Setting aside the fact that the Witness/Watchtower group is not really worldwide (China, N. Korea, most Muslim countries, most of India, etc...), this is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Of course nobody else is spreading the Watchtower gospel except the Watchtower. It proves nothing!

I can picture MadJW back in the 1400s as a Catholic, defending the Catholic church: "Who else is preaching the gospel worldwide--just us Catholics, right? Why are you heretics turning your back on the Church. Sure, the Church has its problems, but nobody else is preaching the gospel worldwide!"

All that poem does is illustrate how you can make the Bible say anything you want by taking things out of context and shaping it into something else.

MadJW, even if we assume that the org is correct on their main tenets of no hellfire, no trinity or immortality of the soul...the org is not unque in this regard. There are other group and denominations that believe the same as the JWs. So, on what basis are JWs, and JWs alone the true religion...especially in light of the fact that many of these other groups teaching identically are not as notorious for false predictions of the end coming?

OK. So that's the "KINGDOM". If you say so.

Now tell us the "Good News" about HOW YOU're gonna get there.

How is joining your group, going to get us there?

  • tec

    Thanks for answering, Mad.

I like the poem. I get the feeling that the writer was thinking in literal terms. I think of the blind seeing, the deaf hearing, and the dead rising in more spiritual terms. See Christ (believe in him and his message)- no longer blind. Hear his words (understand them) - no longer deaf. Believe in Christ - crossing from death into life.

The Good News of the Kingdom to me is Christ. He lived, died and was resurrected - for us. So that we can truly have life here and now, and also eternal life and fellowship with Him.

Tammy, there will be a NEW Heaven and a NEW Earth where "righteousness will dwell"!

So it IS literal- as foretold by all the prophets, and God's will for the Earth.

Casper, that preaching was told about the Last Days, not about the rule of the Catholic Chuch in the Dark Ages!

Tammy, there will be a NEW Heaven and a NEW Earth where "righteousness will dwell"!

No doubt. But there is nothing to say (for certain) that this 'meek living forever on earth' meant each individual meek person will live forever in his/her body. It could easily mean that meek people (in general) will inherit the earth, but that their physical bodies will still give out. That doesn't mean that they've died and the promise of living forever is broken. Jesus said that even those who died physically were alive.

"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."

So the 'death' that is defeated in Revelation could also mean 'spiritual' death. Jesus also described people who were living as being dead - 'let the dead bury their own dead' - that could only have been spiritual death.

Also righteousness is believing God, right? Its faith. Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.

Tammy, if you are SERIOUS about that, please check THIS out, where, starting with Genesis every scripture that gives extra insight as to what "death, soul, spirit, and hell" are is listed.

I'm nowhere NEAR finished, because of starting the RCV ! heh
