Watchtower suppresses critical video

As many of you know the active Jehovah's Witness known as V has a YouTube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/WTComments

V has 27 videos and 1000 subscribers on his channel and over 200,000 views so far

His most recent video is a satirical expose of the most recent generation doctrine change. A copy of the manuscript for the talk being given at the 2010 District Convention explaining this change features in the video.

Despite banning their followers from looking at critical material on the Internet, the Watchtower are 'evidently' keeping a close eye on dissenting opinion. Despite receiving multi-million dollar tax breaks helping to fund their 'educational' work they resent other people publicizing and commenting on those same beliefs. And despite their nominal support for freedom of religion they don't hesitate to restrict others freedom to criticize their doctrines.

And so YouTube received a Copyright Infringement notice from the Watchtower concerning V's latest video. And for the time being the video has been disabled on YouTube, although it is still live elsewhere on the Internet - email wtcomments at gmail dotcom for details.

Exactly how embarrassed are the Watchtower to go to the lengths of taking down a YouTube video based on a photocopy of a manuscript talk?

Do they not realize that the oxygen of publicity guarantees thousands more people will now see this video than otherwise would have done?

Don't they know that they cannot hope to censor the Internet any more than King Canute could turn back the tides? That V's video will soon be on video sharing sites beyond their control?

Already responses to this attempted information control (can you spell C-U-L-T) have started to appear, and more will follow

Please spread the word on this - post on your facebook, email to your address book, put it on your blog - get the word out that the Watchtower, like Scientology and other cults, take our tax breaks and practice information control over us and their members.

PS - for the Brooklyn Bethel snoopers - please pass our thanks on to the relevant people that write your manuscripts - its priceless comedy material - please don't ever go all mainstream on us - we like you just the way you are :-) the more culty the better....thanks again.

So are talk manuscripts copyrighted? And that's their argument?

Leaving aside the control factor of the cult for a moment, it's pretty presumptuous of these people to copyright communications from God, seeing how they claim to be his channel of communication...

This is very much like a Scientology reaction to criticism.

Well, well. Look at the WT society legal team bad guys on the run , scrambling and getting nervous . Good job V for keeping your foot on the accelerator and WT leaders throats. The WT society leaders are all ABOUT control- and particularly information control so it's rank and file members don't find out the REAL truth of their faulty doctrines and beliefs.

I have already seen posts on JWN here of posters indicating shock on JW members faces with visiting Circuit Overseers trying to explain the "generation overlap " theory to congregations in pre-arranged talks which they are being sent out to deliver to all JW congregations to pound this indoctrination of alleged " new light " into the minds of JW rank and file members.

But I truly believe this new " generation " theory will backfire on the WT society in SOME witnesses who have a touch of authentic , non-cult thinking left in their skull. It will hasten the exit of a fair number of witnesses who will say " enough is enough. " Thanks for posting this Besty- good job, keep us updated please. Give our Best to V when you correspond with him please. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Now wait a minute--I thought they WANTED people to hear the Bible's message, and how much more so the information at the district convention! Does this imply that the truth is someone's sole intellectual property? And if so, well, Big Brother, thy name is Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. It's easier to suppress information, even your own information that reflects badly on you, than to defend your position. Well...truly we can see the difference between one who is serving Jehovah and one who is not serving him.

    Good job on V.

There's no way a JW today can continue to go door to door without at some point end up either becoming completely evil and sending their conscience into the shitter, or smelling the fetid rotting odor emanating from the GB/FDS/WTBS, finally and actually "making the truth their own" and up and leave.

No way out other than those two.

I sure hope V and others continue to expose the rotting carbuncle of spirituality that is the WTBS.

Well, if there is a lemonade to be made out of it, at least the WTBS has irrevocably attached its name to said outline. And come on, DMCA violation!!! What are they, a freaking rock band?
