    Blondie:

To each their own. Manera was a certified asshole. I was in a poor black circuit on the south side of Chicago. People were really poor. Manera complained about the furniture used on the stage at the circuit assembly. He was also known for chastising individuals that weren't paying rapt attention to his ranting style of speech.

I remember one circuit overseer who hated him so much he referred to him as brother "manure".

we had Cary Barber prior to his being promoted to GB. I sorta liked his dry sense of humor.

proplog, well, he was on his good behavior here. Of course, it is hard to "judge" anyone in only a week. And I was a single sister, not privy to all the dark underpinnings that the elders saw.

There was only 1 CO that I liked. His name is Andrew "Andy" Cole. He was quite young for a CO and served in NE Oklahoma in the early 90's. I heard that he was disfellowshipped. I always wondered if he went back.

Sunny, he was a very bright guy. Great sense of humor. Samuelson has now got a cushy job as head of a Service Committee when you call from a certain state.

    Let's see.......

Cirenko D.O - can't remember nothin' about him

Jack Cobb C.O. - wonderful, down to earth man

Some Brother Johnson C.O. - he was alright

Brother Bakken C.O - little Hitler IMO, but others liked him so.........

Brother Garrett C.O- nice (did his laundry and had he and his wife for meals - this was in the '70s so I can't remember too much)

Of course we would've had a lot more, but I can't remember them anymore. IMO that's a good sign a person is moving along - or perhaps a lousy memory?? lol

I well remember Manera's ranting style from my very first circuit assembly when I was six years old. I thought it was so cool because it was not like the more subdued talks the local elders gave. However, when I got older I thought he just sounded like a crazy old televangelist.

    other co's I remember:

    Ron Coldiron

    Bellezza (had a horrible toupee)

Gordon Gunther...very very very boring and I always thought he was mean, but I was very young

    Dave Steele...nice guy

Dick Jones..an oddly appropriate name (although most everyone else liked him)

Douglas Mercier..easily my favorite co. I liked him and his wife very much. They actually made me want to be a witness.

Matthew Wilson.. a terribly nice guy, he came to hear my first public talk and gave me a house warming gift when I got my first apartment. I think he liked me pretty well even though he knew I was struggling with a lot of issues. He also recommended that I appeal the decision of my judical committee when I was removed as a ministerial servant. He has left the circuit work but I assume is still an active witness.

Craig Smith was my last CO. He seemed really nice, but by then I was really not involved in cong activities. I just remember that he was really blunt about the divisions that existed in the congregation.

I also remember a very kind older DO named Don Emshoff. I only met him once, but I really like him.
