    C.O.s:

Jack Danley (his wife Fran reminded me of Tammy Faye)

    Olavi Sundvall

    Jack Zwicker

Brother Murray (big guy with white hair; looked like Santa Claus; very old school and very boisterous)

Albert and Marlene Fong (My faves. Very humble and sincere. When they moved across country for their next assignment and heard that I'd been missing meetings (fading) she called me to say hi and sent me a card. Nothing too preachy just a loving, miss you kind of card.)

    Hans Pintar

Brother Beaulieu (They will fill-in COs. Thought he was great. He started a field service group once by reciting the lyrics from "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers. We then had a 10 minute discussion about "knowing when to hold em" and "knowing when to walk away" when at the door talking to householders. Fun guy.)

Brother Lum (can't recall his first name)

    D.O.s:

Wayne Johnson (Jerk. He was my good friend's uncle and so he came to visit our hall on occasion. At the time I had 7 Bible studies and the only question he asked was "Why aren't you pioneering?" There was an elder with me who stood up to Wayne and told him how great an asset I was to the congregation and that I will pioneer when my financial situation permits. Wayne proceeded to berate me by giving me financial advice. NO commendation from that man.)

Jean Crepeau (from Quebec; great speaker, with a ton of joie de vivre)

Ray Harriman - CO - great guy. Looked like and was as funny as Tim Conroy. A bunch of us used to take him target shooting, which he loved, before the Society got really down on guns.

Alan Hood - CO - the worst. Insenstive in the extreme. We had a sister that I went to pioneer school whose husband divorced her because she was a JW. Their son worked for me for about 5 years. This sister and Hood went to a door that evidently did not go well. Hood waited until they got back to the car before asking her "Did you forget EVERYTHING you learned in pioneer school?" Hood also wrote a scathing letter about our body of elders to Brooklyn saying we were uncooperative ...

Paul Illingworth - DO - The WTS sent him to see us regarding Hood's letter. Good guy. Drove a Volvo and loved to ski. He handled the situation between our elders and Hood nicely. He basically told us that the CO was around twice and year and to do what we had to to get through those two week and to run the congregation as we felt Jehovah moved us the rest of the year. He also said that because of the growth in the org that they had to "dip much deeper into the talent pool" than they thought they would have to when appointing COs

Dan Raftopoulos - DO - basically neutral - personable, not real cocky. He did have one interesting phrase he used to use though. With dramatic emphasis on the last work, he would ask "Where will you spend eternity? On top of the earth's crust, or just below it? It's only a matter of INCHES"

Bob Gibson - CO - company man. He was our CO as I was leaving. Convinced the elders to rescind and redo their previous vote to allow me to remain an elder although I had a beard.

Sam Herd - DO - I was working in the accounting department at the circuit assemblies when he was our DO. He used to come to the back room to approve all the checks that were written to cover the expense of the assembly - and of course the money sent to the Society. It always amazed me how the "Aw shucks, homey, I was brought up in the piney woods of Ohio(?)" persona he projected on the platform became all business when he came to the back room.

Did anyone mention Blalock, he had no personality, I think he was bitter about 1975 failure and got stuck with no retirement and money

That one sounds familiar to me. I'm not sure on the spelling of the names but I remember J F Alee' (pronounced a-lay) and Jaime Renquist.
I believed he married one of my friends who was a good 20 years his junior.

The only one mentioned previously that has crossed my path was Grizzell (Grizelle?). He was our DO in Oklahoma City for a while. Don't remember much about him except that our CO under him got disfellowshipped right in the middle of our visit for having a little fling with a pioneer sister in his former circuit in Kansas City. Marion Dunlap had to take over and finish the so-called Circuit Overseer visit, even though he was actually our congregation servant at the time.

    My personal favorites:

Dave Wetzler - the enigma. He was a young "annointed" bethel guy who at first came over like king of the hill. However, underneath the surface was an honest man, IMHO. I heard that he later left the circuit ministry, quit partaking, and he and wifey got pregnant and got on with life. Sometimes I wonder if he didn't later see the futility of the whole religion.

Leonard Duanne Bell - nicest big old guy you could ever hope to meet. Will never forget the day we got stuck out in the rurals in my old Corvair (I had bragged previously that it could never be stuck because of the rear-engine weight bias!) and after having a good laugh on that, he got out and helped me push it over like a man. Dude had an early 60s Oldsmobile into which some brother had installed a GMC truck granny 4-speed so that he could pull his trailer without burning out the transmission.

My personal "do not ever call again" list: many (probably most) of the others. Bunch of phony-baloney IMHO. They were getting off on the creature worship just as much as the worshipers in the congregation.

I may just say that in retrospect this is neither an honorable nor a desirable job, and that anybody that could do it with the least amount of human dignity deserves our everlasting credit.

Wickers= typical self righteous Aholes.....Samuelson, a DO was very sharp. I liked him. Angelacos= THE WORST. Rokos, who just died this past year, was no nonsense. I believe he knew it was mostly crap....just my opinion.

    Dan Raftopoulos - DO

    I remember a Dennis Raftopolous...same guy maybe?

Surprisingly that's the only name that stuck out that I knew I recognized. There were a couple of others that seemed familiar but I couldn't definitely remember.

...Just remembered one... Bob Selee (not sure if the spelling is correct on the last name). I remember he used the same joke everytime he showed up...he would say his name and then say, "It's spelled..." and he would pause and then, "B - O - B", and everyone would laugh and think it was the most original joke ever told

I remember one from when I was a teenager...Dave Mraz...I think. His wife committed suicide and he left the circuit work.

Darn it...they're starting to come back to me now...I better stop before I remember them all....aaaauuuuggghhhh

I wound up having my hind end beat off because my mother was out in service with him and me and my brothers were in the back seat objecting because her voice and total demeanor changed in front of him.

Boy, do I remember this. Still haunts me to this day. My Mom's whole voice, body language, personality, and traits changed when she was in the presence of other Witnesses, even moreso when she was in the presence of elders or upper echelon JW's. I thought I was just imagining this! She was ever so nice, friendly, helpful, compassionate, etc. around them, but as soon as she was home, her natural personality came out: screaming, hitting, controlling, etc. Wierd.

We had a CO one time named Brother Snow. I liked him.
