January 15th Watchtower 2007 'Remaining Steadfast When a Child REbels'

    'When Discipline Is Severe'

'If your child is unrepentant and is a baptized christian, he may receive the strongest form of discipline - being disfellowhipped from the congregation. The extent of contact that you will then have with himd depends on his age and other circumstances.

If the child is a minor and is living at home, you will naturally continue to take care of his physical needs. He also requires moral training and discipline, and you have the responsibility to provide these. You may want to conduct a Bible study with him, involving his direct participation. You can draw his attnetion to various scriptures and to the publications provided by the 'faithful and discreet slave.' You can also take the child with your to christian meetings and have him sit with you. All of this can be done in hopes that he will take Scriptural counsel to heart.'

(It seems that 'a minor' is to be forced into studies and meetings!)

'The situation is different if the disfellowshipped one is not a minor and is living away from home. The apostle Paul admonished Christians in ancient Corinth: 'Quite mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolator or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man.' While caring for necessary family matter may require some contact with the disfellowshipped person, a christian parent would strive to avoild needless association.

When an erring child is disciplined by Christian shepherds, it would be unwise if you were to reject or minimize their Bible based action. Siding with your rebellious child would not be providing any real protection from the Devil. Actually you would be endangering your own spiritual health. On the other hand, by supporting the efforts of the shephers, you will remain solid in the faith and will provide the best help for your child.'

So parents - a reminder NOT to talk to your children if they break Watchtower rules!

I wonder how. Will the kid persuade his/her parents to have illicit sex? Rob a bank? Cheat on taxes? Take drugs? Or wil the kid simply encourage his/her parents to take care of themselves and their health and go to less meetings?

Shunning family... putting women in their place... I see Jan.-15-2007 Watchtower is setting the table to be a year of renaissance for their old beliefs. Teddy J. (Jaracz) must be looking to go out with a bang.

Uh lets see...needless association. Oh OK, do we tell the kid if his/her grandparents go in the hospital, nursing home, die? Nah. How about if his/her siblings move, have kids, get a new job? Nah. The WT acts like they have no idea how people go with this crap. But they do and instead of doing something to stop it they write articles like this.

The dumbasses at Bethel are too stupid to realise that Paul was alone on many of his missionary journeys. The only association he had was with people who did not have any concept of morals. He must have been terrified that he was endangering his spiritual health.

nicolaou - This isn't a study article. It's just an article in the mag.

The study articles for that mag are 'Teach what the Bible REALLY teaches' and' Help others obey what the Bible Teaches'.

You could easily remove 'Bible' from these titles and insert Watchtower as there are plenty of pictured Watchtower publications. (To be studied at the end of February)

The first thought that jumped to MY mind....no hugs. What kind of parenting is that?
