Sad to say the Cano revelation will have very little effect in changing the way people feel about the organization. Reaction will be:

1. "See, this proves the end is near."

2. "Satan is going all out in attacking Jehovah's people.He exploits their weakness's."

3. "The Watchtower has warned us about the dangers of the internet."

Brown's comments will first be doubted....lies spread by apostates....then accepted as from the FDS. Found nothing in the comments that couldn't be explained away ala Orwell's 1984.

Sure, it will have no effect on some people, but that is not the case with everyone.

Many left the org when the past scandals came to light (UN, Dateline, etc.). Just read past posts on this forum to hear many tales of people leaving the org because of those scandals. This is yet another one of those and we will see yet another wave leaving the org. How big the wave is--that's impossible to measure--but 1 life saved from this toxic, dangerous cult is progress.

Plus, let's not forget that things like this do change the way people feel about the org. It's been a while since the org has gotten widespread bad press on the child abuse issue. The public hates to hear about these things, which means there will be people who will avoid getting involved with the cult in the first place. Additionally, well-publicized stories like this help victims feel empowered to come forward about their own abuse. 1 of the major reasons victims avoid telling anyone is they fear they won't be believed; a well-known scandal like this will help them feel as though they will be believed.

none of WT networks were accessed for this info that is known at this time

The organization exists only to see the Good news proclaimed of God's kingdom which is made up of Chosen Rulers who are in heaven. The JWs will be subjects of that kingdom.

From lengthy conversations I have had with my best friend from childhood (Johnny; who is still an active J.W.) I would say all old-timer Witnesses already know the organization is not inspired and has no better information than anybody else about end times.

Here is the disconnect: they personally desire and wish that the Watchtower organization has a superior status on doctrines and truth and consequently merely insist that it is a fact. (Cognitive dissonnance through and through!)

Publishers at the congregation level fall in to three tiers of mindset about who/what the Faithful and Discreet Slave class actually is/means.

1. Newbies think they are a hotline directly to Jehovah's lips. They think of Brooklyn headquarters as the CNN of Truth and New Light. All writings and publications are viewed as a News Bulletin from heaven.

2.Bros. and sisters who have been around for awhile more moderately hold the opinion that only the Watchtower Society has the actual pure view of what Jehovah's will and purpose is, but, are willing to concede that the Organization sometimes makes inadvertant errors which God eventually sorts out. Error=no big deal.

3.The old-timers are a different species. Those who have been around for decades KNOW there is something rotten at the core but have no place else to go. Why? Because they have been taught to hate other religions and points of view. These hardcore rank and file members have learned to split their personality into two faces; one public and one private. These are bedrock community of person's hanging on by their fingernails and getting angrier and angrier each time Pedophilia or U.N. scandal stories are released. However, they have a knee-jerk defense mechanism.

Veteran JW's don't want to admit they have wasted their entire lives on a bogus religion. Consequently, they become hardcore defenders NO MATTER WHAT. They are protecting their investment.

JR Brown's comments just go to show what BS this summer's ASSembly is when he admits and we all know, that the WTS has absolutely no direction from God- sooooooo....How do they know the "END" is near, who told them?
