Just announced- WMDs found in Iraq

Missile defense is a new untested technology. Moreover, it works best with Soviet-type ICBMs with spin stabilization that are quite precise in their aim, because it has to project ahead of the missile in order to strike it. North Korea missiles are cruder and have much less precise aim....because of their variable wobble, they are much harder to hit in a missile defense system. At least that was the situation a few years ago.

From what I've read, it is still the same. Now, I really can't sleep for thinking about it.

We need to be spending money on refining the system. We need to stop screwing around in Iraq and get on the ball.

Who will disarm the United States of its WMD- equally to the point, who will disarm Pine Gap, the US communications spy base in Central Australia which is a nuclear target and part of the US WMD program.

Mr Gregor, WMD is actually legal under international law because the US does it. That's why Israel, Pakistan and India have made WMD and get big smiley's and ticks from your President Bush. The reason why they can kick up a stink about Iran is because the Shah signed the NonProliferation Treaty. But it doesn't make it illegal for them to make WMD.

In the case of Iraq, it was illegal for them to make chemical weapons because of the experience of the first world war, but it wasn't illegal for them to make nuclear weapons, until Saddam invaded Kuwait, after which disarmament conditions were imposed by the UN. Now your President wants to impose these conditions on Iran, as if Iran invaded Kuwait. But Iran is no different to the United States - which is a nuclear armed fundamentalist Christian regime, Israel which is a fundamentalist Judaist regime, Pakistan which is a fundamentalist Islamic regime, and India which is a fundamentalist Hindu regime.

That old American argument that it's not the gun but the nutter who shoots it doesn't cut.

    PS Mr Gregor

Why does Donald Rumsfeld arm Saddam, and then send over poor soldiers, poor Americans, to die to disarm him, when they kept him in power in the first place. I notice Donald Rumsfeld is not dying and being blown up in Iraq. But he's profiting quite handsomely from it isn't he. Sounds like a war criminal to me.

To be fair, the Australian public hasn't exactly done a fantastic job at stopping John Howard from involving the nation in the Iraq War. In fact, instead of punishing his government for the WMD duplicity, many Australians are happy to ignore this error and hold little Johnny in high regard.

You will never hear about this in the general media and it will not stop the negative talk on the war. To much of a liberal slide to everything and blind to any facts. Only care about saying how wrong we are. Who cares any more! The war is on and nothing can change history.

It was in the general media. Did you even bother to watch it or are you just gonna quote the party liene? Liberal slant? Oh puleeze. The media bends over backwards to kiss the administration's butt. You are correct, nothing can change history but the future isn't made yet. And as long as people care, there is a possibility to change the course of events. Obviously you don't care though.

    Thank you inquisitor

I wasn't condemning the American public. Of course we all are responsible to do something to stop our governments from killing people. It's hard to do and the first thing is the propaganda war. The illusion which our war hero Mr Gregor who started this thread wants to push is that the Bush administration is part of the liberal media coverup.

Yeah well...it's just been announced that we're going to spend billions upon billions on upgrading our nuclear deterrent so we can 'nuke' anyone who attacks us. And Saddam had a few old cannisters of mustard gas. Whoopee doo!!!!!

    Gregor and Groupies of,

I suspect that you are trying to remove the blush from your face at the moment, but please do not feel that all those who oppose the war in Iraq are either liberals, out to get you, or have a desire to wall up decent people in a dungeon full of stem cell researchers.

Some of us are just able to differentiate between an argument that smells like a pigs rear end and an ounce of Schiaparelli in more than 'just announced' time.
