taking the book was a red rag to the jws, i'm not that fussed it was taken, i've prolly got a couple o library books in the attic that never went back (bite me, sue me, eat me)

but richie, and i'm sure he'd admit it has been flying pretty close to the wind for the last year, he's made absolutely no secret of who he is and he's put his pic up for all the droolling dubbies to look at. and power to him.

but he wasnt gonna be walking on water forever, and i cant understand why anyone whose been brought up a jw would be surprised at the backlash hes getting at home now.

Poppy may not have said it to your liking but she prolly hit the nail right on the head on how his mum is feeling right now, whether we agree with how his mum is dealing with it or not, theres no way she was gonna pat him on the head and say 'there there'

and no matter what views anyone has on what is and isnt abuse, slagging his mother off on the here, where the sanctimonious little dubbies who turned him in found him in the first place (and would prolly get as much pleasure telling his mum whats being said) prolly isnt gonna make anything easier for richie at home right now.

hopefully richie will be able to salvage some sort of relationship with his mum once she calms down a bit, but threads screaming for him to have her arrested sure aint gonna go anyways towards helping that.

PM me for any ideas you need about how to "be sneaky."

I won't go into gory details in this post, but let's just say that I have done some things I am proud of, and things I am not so proud of, along the lines of what you need to do to secure your escape.

Having a JW mother myself, I am fully aware of and comprehend the wrath of Richie's mom. That is irrelevant because this still does not justify nor rationalize her reaction. Indeed, since I do fully understand the situation in the context of this mind controlling cult, I can understand that Richie is in a dire situation and at this moment requires our support, morally or even perhaps financially. The behaviour demonstrated was psychotic, involving stealing Richies personal belongings and the money he HIMSELF earned at his job. There is NO justification whatsoever for these actions.

Do you really think anyone expected that she was going to pat him on the head? Obviously not. To the "poppy fan club" I will simply say the following. Different types of people respond to the crises of other human beings in a variety of ways. Some of us instinctively reach out to help, and ignore the context or pre-existing circumstances that led to the emergency. The poster 'z' is a good example of this charitable disposition. They dont ask the question "how did he get himself into this?" as a PRE-CONDITION to offering goodwill and charity. The thought "he got whats coming to him" does not enter their minds.....

Others simply ignore and walk away. Finally, there are those that see somebody in serious trouble, and use this as an opportunity to gloat, and boast about their moral superiority while passing reprehensible judgements on the individual. Its simply called "kicking them while they're down" and many people truly enjoy this sort of behaviour. In fact, its a JW specialty that many "ex" JWs find particularly difficult to abandon, as this thread has amply demonstrated.

ooooo do i get a fan member badge to go with my thrown out at 18 t-shirt?

right now i hope richie is at home safe and sound, at least while hes still at home he can still speak to his mum, theres nothing nicer when you've been picking up whats left of your belongings from the lawn, than a friendly visit from the elders to tell you that now you've *chosen* to leave home your parents no longer need to talk to you at all. (unless of course its family biz...and that can be pretty infrequent)

i have no probs how you, i , or anyone else chose to spend our money or on what causes.

what i would really hate to see is richies situation speeded up by insulting his mum to the point where she decides its time for him to go whether hes ready or not.

    Nelly:

Poppy may not have said it to your liking but she prolly hit the nail right on the head on how his mum is feeling right now, whether we agree with how his mum is dealing with it or not, theres no way she was gonna pat him on the head and say 'there there' and no matter what views anyone has on what is and isnt abuse, slagging his mother off on the here, where the sanctimonious little dubbies who turned him in found him in the first place (and would prolly get as much pleasure telling his mum whats being said) prolly isnt gonna make anything easier for richie at home right now.

It doesn`t matter. It simply doesn`t matter that his mother is outraged now. This is because when JW-parents are in outrage over their kids abandoning their religion, these parents have no right to be angry. They may believe they have to right to be upset, but they really don`t. Not just because their religion is a hoax (of course, because to them, it`s not), but because every 18-yearold has the right to live the way they choose to live. To that, you can argue that "all parents have the right to want the best for their kids, and guide them in the right direction", and this is where we get down to what really is the issue: The JW-parents have no right to be upset, because they are (fucking objectively!) wrooong, wrooong, wroooong, about what is in their childrens best interest. This is because they are brainwashed members of an insane cult. Of course, in their own perspective, they are not. And that`s why there is no chanse of "building a bridge", finding "common ground" between a JW-parent and a kid-on-the-way-out. There is no chanse of that, at least not at first. It has to be a confrontation, there is no other way, because in the brainwashed mind of the JW-parent, the child is choosing Satan over Jehovah. Not only is the child going to die a horrible death in Armageddon, but the childs actions makes the mother ashamed, both in the eyes of the others (after all, in JW-land, appearance is everything), but also in her/his own eyes, for "failing" in the effort to keep the child "in the flock". And how can you argue with something like that? No, there is no common ground. The best course of action, when dealing with superbrainwashed JW-parents, is to confront them hard. Move out, break all contact with them until they come crawling back, asking for forgiveness for being such shitty parents. A JW-parent has to be brought to his/her knees to have some real truth knocked into their thick skulls, before there can be any hope of a relationship between parent and child again.

    Kid-A,

I think you may be making false assumptions. Just because people are stating that Richie is experiencing the consequences of his action does NOT mean they aren't willing to help. Or to state it positively: People would help Richie even though they realize he's facing consequences of his actions.

Also, this acknowledgement does not condone the consequences (his mother's over the top actions). It's simply a statement of fact.

its been 20+ years since i did that Hellrider, it was my choice and i have absolutely no regrets.

this is Richies choice, it should be Richies choice to sit it out till things calm down a little or leave as he feels fit, and not end up rushed out of his home because pepes piss his parents off to the point where they take even more drastic action than they have already.

I feel that unless people are actually going to be physically there to pick up the pieces should things go wrong then they shouldn't be interfering in someone else's life and possibly antagonising an already bad situation.

Telling Richie to do this and do that and then chucking money at him when he does what you say and it all goes wrong isn't going to help him. Richie needs mates and support local to him.

I've been in this situation, I was made homeless at 17 by my crappy parents and I know that someone on the phone 100's of miles away telling you everythings going to be ok is of no help at all.

yeah sure, richie wasnt slick about how things went down......... yeah he coulda kept things under their radar and accomplished the same things regarding the flock books distribution and all that. BUT we all wouldnt have had all these funny as hell things to spend the past few months laughing our asses off over.

but to the point, should richie have had to put up with this shite in the first place? HELL NO. as we all know this religion is screwed up beyond all explaination. even you lurkers/trolls have to admit that in your heart of hearts(when your not here being nazi's for the dubz).

richies mother is a nut job yes....... but that is OBVIOUSLY so due to the fact she is mired up to her neck in a controlling CULT.

She cant think for herself, because thats how the wts likes her, just accepting their BS. she cant look at richie and see a normal young man who is makeing a personal choice about how he will worship god, instead as was brought out she simply sees him choosing satan over jehovah.

she cant see a son who isnt being immoral, or doing drugs. she hasnt found his immense collection of porn (good hideing place richie). she cant possibly see how he is doing things in a proper way even if its not the JW way, because they have programmed her to automaticly say that if your not with them your against them and for satan.

I have lost friends over my self righteous jw responses to things and so i cant condemn anyone for still having the after effects of that crazy ass cult.

all i can say is do what you have to do richie, we cant tell you what to do regarding your mother, if you do need any assistance you have plenty of us to fall back on.

i do agree with hellrider tho in the fact that witness parents need to be brought low before they can see the cult for what it is. i do have my opinions regarding any person takeing my stuff(after they pry my cold dead fingers off of it) but then again im a grown ass man. i wouldnt let her have a dime, and i would talk to dad about paying rent untill i found my own place($250 is a damn good start at rent and especially as its paid already) that way she in theory couldnt go off on him since he is paying rent for his room or whatever. but then again that would work only if someone was reasonable and well............ given her programmed nutzo responses i dont think she can be called reasonable. all i can say is your in our prayers richie
