My conversation with my semi-dub doctor
by willyloman ina doctor i visited is married to a dub from my old hall.
he is one of those husbands who was never baptized but comes to some meetings and "talks the talk," or at least some of it and professes belief but never goes all in.. i acquired him as part of a surgical team and only found out he was on that team when i went in for surgery.
he's been handling my follow up visits.

Radical Protestant Sect of One
by willyloman ini've been reading "jesus and yahweh: the names divine" by harold bloom, a professor and noted literary critic, and came across a great line which was originally used to describe the religious status of john milton, a 17th century poet.. he is described as a radical protestant sect of one.
i really like that.
it pretty much summarizes my current relgious status.. radical: not mainstream.. protestant: not catholic.. sect: offshoot of an established religion.. one: each journey is unique.. i think rpso fits many of the posters here on jwd.. --willy loman (of the rpso class)..

2000 Election Florida Recount Figure Katherine Harris in the News
by willyloman inthis just in from msnbc, concerning the florida congresswoman who refused to recount the votes in the 2000 election when she was the state election official, thus assuring bush's questionable victory and perhaps changing the course of human history (based on world events since then):.
katherine harris, a florida republican who is running for the u.s. senate had surgery today to remove an ovarian mass.
harris underwent the procedure at walter reed army medical center, her office said.

What I've Learned After 2,000 Posts!
by willyloman inive been watching my number of posts climb towards 2,000 in recent days.. it seemed a good time to contemplate what ive learned in the two years, seven months and five days (according to my profile) since i joined the interactive fray although i lurked here for more than a year while i was a jw elder.
during that time, i read every single post starting with the first page and caught up.
of course, its impossible to read every one now, its so big, but it's been quite an education.

This post is number 1975, nearly as exciting as the year
by willyloman ini just realized that my last post was number 1974 and i felt compelled to make number 1975 significant enough to deserve being named after that "marked" year.
however, i can't come up with anything.
i could tell you armageddon will come during this post but you'd be skeptical, i'm sure.

Do you have a 'canned' presentation for when you run into dubs?
by willyloman inwhen you're in the process of fading, especially in the early months, there's this constant fear (or at least uneasiness) that you will run into a jw every time you walk into a supermarket, department store, movie theater, etc.
i'm thinking the best way to deal with this concern is to prepare a "presentation" in advance -- a sentence or two, or some talking points, so that when it happens i don't have to wonder what i'm going to say.
the problem is, i keep changing the message in my head.
