Yet another example of how silly the Bible is...
by Abaddon inokay, let's go along with the flood story for a moment, to the point where noah exits the ark.. here we have noah, with two of each animal and seven of the clean animals; maybe a few dozen animals that were not essential to the future survival of the species.. what does god do?.
tells noah he can eat animals now.. are you telling me an all-wise, all-knowing god isn't capable of better planning than that?
which strikes you as more likely?

Maybe I'm missing something about this particular Creationist's arguement..
by Abaddon inhere we have an article about the dodo by dr. jerry bergman;.
http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs/1172.asp.
it discusses the reasons for the dodoes extinction and concludes;now that the bird has been extensively studied, we realize that the facts do not support the evolutionary myth, but do support the moral bankruptcy of humankind.. .

Taliban prisoners in Cuba
by Abaddon indoes this trouble anyone?.
it seems semantic tom-foolery to declare a war on terrorism, and then to say that prisoners of the war are not prisoners of war.. it also seems very suspect keeping them of proper usa soil, as where they are they are out of sight, mind, or appeal by civil-rights factions.. do not get me wrong.. i am not saying, "ah, poor ickle terrorists".. but in a war against terror, surely taking each and every opportunity to distance yourself from your enemies is the wisest and best course of action?.
why do anything that is even remotely dodgy or underhand?.

The word of God makes it clear to us that abortion is not a sin.
by Abaddon innot until god gave man his first breath did he become a living soul.
the verses in genesis are not the only verses in the bible to make this clear.
abortion is not a sin, though blasphemy and idolatry are.

One thing about Clinton...
by Abaddon in... was that no one was ever accused of being unpatriotic if they hammered him.
now, of course, w might be a paragon of virtue in comparison, at least with regard to oral sex in the oval office, but many people who have criticised aspects of his presidency have had all sorts of accusations rained down upon their heads.
i found this article an interesting discussion.

Would you let your kids bf/gf sleep-over?
by Abaddon inat what age would you be happy with your kid's boyfriend and girlfriend 'sleeping over'?.
would the rules be different for boys vs. girls?.
personally, i think given a choice between 'it' happening anyway god-knows-where and giving a suitably mature kid some privacy, i go for the privacy option.. what do you think?

Is getting married in Church a DA'able offense? Ping anyone with BOE manual
by Abaddon inhaving been fairly proud of my jw parent's behaviour (and to be honest, my handling of them) in the 13 years or so since i walked away i now find myself in a quandry.
i basically arranged my departure from the cult in such a manner that i would neither be da'd or df'd, to avoid a situation where their family loyalty might be streached by their adherence to organsiational law.
why should i play by their rules and write a letter leaving an imaginary religion?

Chasing rainbows - how I got engaged in Paris
by Abaddon ini took kate, my girlfriend of between the last five and ten years (depending how you define girlfriend) to paris this weekend and proposed.
i had a couple of scenarios mapped out, but was playing it by ear as to the right moment.. on saturday night when we sat down to eat at a restaurant the waiter asked me if i "had got engaged to the lady yet", and then said "if not, i will".
i'm sure he does it to every foreign couple where the women isn't wearing a ring but i could not believe it that one .

The USA and the 'Divine Mandate'
by Abaddon inhaving had a bizzare (for a european) preoccupation with american history in the 19th c, i do find that current american foreign policy still has implict in it the religiously inspired rationale that enabled americans to seriously claim that the ethnic cleansing of the west, and the genocidal behaviours that this often entailed, was because god wanted them to do it.. from certain newspaper articles i've read it seems as if some of those in the white house believe that bush getting in despite not having the majority of the popular vote was a sign, and that 9/11 backed up their belief that bush was a man put in a certain place for a certain time and role.
that bible studies are a regular expected activity of white house staffers.. now, this makes me very nervous.
i prefer my religious fanatics to come from developing countries that may have weapons of mass destruction, rather than from the most powerful millitary country in the world with more weapons of mass destruction than the rest of the world put together.. obviously just because it was in a newspaper doesn't mean it's true (yesterday's guardian i think).. but what do you think?.
