it seems some people still maintain that trump will try to get help from the russians “again”..

i remember going door to door in the late 60's with my mother as a 5 or 6 year old.
one time she caught me looking at the wind chimes on a porch.
she told me they had pagan origins, were evil, and were somehow connected to demons.
Too bad those wind chimes didn't scare away jw's!

if you answer yes to that question ,may i ask which bible are you referring to ?
and why would god have a different number of bible books for different parts of the world.?.
is he partial to different ethnic groups ?.
The word bible comes from the root "book or books". After reading the bible, it's obvious that some of the guys that wrote those books were strange and delusional. Some were historians and as with all history, the facts and the truth get slanted and distorted. The bible is a strange collection of writings gathered by the RCC.
So if god 'inspired' the bible, it's very hard to believe. impossible, in a god that did such violent and horrific things to his little creatures here on this tiny spec in the vast universe!

if a jw had the nerve to ask me this question, i'd say to them, "you go first.
using only scriptural proof, show me why you believe that the wtbts/ccojw is god's choice and i'll tell you if i agree with your scriptural reasoning.".
wait for the silence and the rabbit in the headlights moment.. i searched on the wt cd rom for references of "channel of communication.".
I'd answer that question by saying WTF! For about 80 years the "faithful and discreet slave" didn't even know who who the "faithful and discreet slave" was. So how do we know that "they" got it right this time? Answer..We don't know and neither do "they"!

this week's meeting stresses god's justice and righteousness in destroying the "wicked" people of the above cities.
we are told how patient and just big j was in this matter.
finally with a regretful shake of his head, he dispenses justice .. gen 19:24 then jehovah made it rain sulfur and fire on sodʹom and go·morʹrah—it came from jehovah, from the heavens.+ 25 so he overthrew these cities, yes, the entire district, including all the inhabitants of the cities and the plants of the ground.+.
I thought the most "heart warming" part of this week's bible reading was about Lot banging his 2 daughters and knocking them both up!
jehober "lovingly" provides for those in need and.....................well I guess Lot need some..........!
biblical accounts draw us closer to jehober......................not!

editor's note: found this on reddit...thought the meat of the post would be a good post for discussion here as well.. consider the three choices god forced upon david for taking a census.
these three choices were forced on king david, not for murdering people, not for raping women, not for lying, stealing, or any crime we can think of in our modern world that is repugnant, but simply for taking a census or in other words, counting people.. for counting people, jehovah forced a decision on david that involved the lives of thousands upon thousands of innocent people.. the choices all dealt with the “way” jehovah would kill thousands of unsuspecting loyal worshipers.. 1 chronicles 21.
“these are the choices the lord has given you.
Yes it was bible stories like this one that helped me to wake up and to realize that the bible is merely a book of jewish mythology and fables. If the bible were true and jehober was really the almighty----holy shit! No one would be safe from his vengeance and anger!
It's been truly liberating to the mind and soul breaking away from religion!

in another thread, quentin reminded us all of the lyrics to one of the kingdom songs: .
"kiss the son lest god be angry and you perish in the way" .
my question is: .
I means that jehober get angry at just about anything! And if he's having a particularly angry day, you might perish! It's pretty f*cking messed up to think that god is so petty as to kill us tiny little humans because we make a mistake!

myself being a born in and completely out for more than 30 years i see more of the damage of what this religious cult causes people .. part of myself leaving had to do with the psychological harm it was causing people back in the 1970's, one guy my age at the time hung himself out anxiety and depression.. the numerous suicides that have occurred in numbers is shocking to say the least.. then there is the many families breaking up.. marriages breaking apart because one member decides to leave the jws.. the deaths of members or their children from refusing a blood transfusion.. this hit me personally when my mother refused a bt when she was ill in the hospital and died.. over the years and observing all of these things reminds me how glad and fortunate i left when i did but i do find it responsible to others to expose this religious cult to what can happen to people who get involved with it and that's what i've been doing on this forum and elsewhere.

My mom became a jw when I was 4. That was in 1951. So I was fully indoctrinated most of my life. I was a pioneer and an elder for over 20 years. Married a jw girl (still married to her and she's still a jw) and raised my 4 children as good jw's. My children thankfully do not take religion very seriously but they all married jws.
Since waking up to ttatt about 15 years ago and beginning a slow, gradual, and successful fade life has become fun and interesting. It's called freedom!
I still have lifelong many jw friends that have accepted me 'as is' despite my "spiritually" weak condition. lol. My jw siblings (my 2 brothers are elders and my sister married to an elder) accept me 'as is' also. I am the oldest sibling and, unfortunately, I blazed the trail for my younger siblings in jw-ism. My brothers aften mention to me that if it hadn't been for my "great example" that they probably wouldn't be jws today! wow!
The way I feel about the jw religion is the same way I feel about all religion! It's decisive, controlling, and self righteous. My experience as a jw was like most of us here, not all bad and not all good. It's what we did then but fortunately, it's not what we do now!

That's exactly the way it was growing up as a teenage jw in the 60's and 70's. We were so f*cking worried about the "new world" that we didn't learn very well about living in this "old world", the one that is still here and the one we are still living in! Here we are in our 60's and 70's regretting our lost teenage years because we believed we were "never going to get old in this system"!
