I know lots of good JWs. There is good and bad in all religions. I was in need once and a brother helped me financially. I think that JWs would do more good if they weren't continually stifled by the organisation. It suffocates you and makes you think you should only do good for other JWs. The only exception is the ministry. You can talk to wicked worldly people only if you are trying to convert them - you mustn't help them unless there is a Bible study at the end of it. There are so many nice ones in my congregation and I hope they see the light one day and come out.

Proplog2,
Maybe I am the only one here who couldn't give two hoots when the great tribulation & armageddon are gonna come - because it won't make the slightest difference to me! If it is coming tomorrow, what can I do about it? If it is coming in a year, 5 years, 10 years - so what? What can we do to change it or stop it? Nothing! So why not just get on with your life and not worry about it. You can end up spending all your life speculating, getting it wrong, speculating again, getting it wrong again etc etc. That's what the WTBTS does so well - you don't have to do the same thing. If we just live each day as if it were our last, that should be good enough, don't you think?

Hi Craig,
Just keep reminding yourself that you are not 'disfellowshipped' from God. Who do these people think they are? No matter what has gone on in your life, only you know how you feel about God and Jesus and whatever else you believe in. How dare they assume that you have committed a sin that deems you worthy of being thrown out of the cong. If that's the way these 'Christians' behave, you are well off out of there. The only person that matters is God and how he feels. The JWs tell us he is all forgiving, so how do these moronic elders know whether he has forgiven you or not? They just take things into their own hands. If you still believe in God, nobody can cut you off from him, only yourself. Just have pity on the elders in your cong and pray that they will come to 'an accurate knowledge' of the scriptures some day

where do we go from here (disullusioned ) with man
by nightwarrior innow that i have shaken of the stupor of being a cloned wittness, of 20 yearsi find it very hard to decide what do i do now.. i know that man has a built inherent motivation to worship i havenot been active for the past four years but i still beleive in a creator ,of sorts loving caring compasionate ,with a host of other qualitys,as seen, am i alone in the woods with my thoughts,.
i will willingly share my experiencess for all to see ,but i refuse to get involved with any man made organization again, even the scriptures warn us not to put our trust in any man ,i took this to heart when first attending meetings, i decided that all my children should have a trade,to have a worthwhile type of employment not to go to bethel, as somemost familys want for there children ,and not to become a window cleaner as most of the lazy brothers i knew jumped on this bandwagon hence window cleaners lead to perverts, you know the scene peeping toms up the ladders and wammo, peering through bedroom windows ,therfore is this the first steps to being paedophilia in later life ,.
i beleive that the youngsters should be baptized around age of 30 years of age ,why do you dissagree with me can you see the trouble & problems faced by youngsters today, jesus was 30 years old when he got baptized so i beleive, why have the society gone against the scriptures & example of jesus,do we follow jesus example or do you worship the society.

Chris,
I read your profile - I hope you keep going strong. It is horrible to have a witch hunt conducted against you. I can feel everyone's eyes burning into me when I go to the KH (which isn't very often any more). I agree - allowing young children to get baptised is just as bad as baptising babies in my mind. Even at 18 or 19, you don't always know what you want in life. You change so much by the time you get into your late 20s and early 30s. I really feel for young ones in the organisation.
I also still believe in God but I am not sure about a lot of things. I have said before on this board that, being out of the 'truth', you seem to lose a sense of hope. At least as a JW, you had the resurrection hope and the hope of life in a beautiful earth. I am not saying I want to go back, but I want to find out what is the real purpose of our being here. I need to believe in a resurrection of some sort - I just can't believe this is all there is.

Prophetic Poverty and Delicious Torture!
by LDH inwell, kids, it's that time of year again!!!
the time of the year when the rest of the western world slows down just a little, gives thanks for what they have and stops bitching about what they don't have, and thinks of lending a helping hand to their neighbors a little bit more....you get the idea!
i wonder what those knuckleheads the jws will be doing?

I am so annoyed with myself after reading all your posts. I have started to give to charity over the past year or so, but I should have done it sooner. I was a bit of a doormat, you see, until I got to the stage where I couldn't keep quiet any more and I started to question everything which got me a bad name. I didn't mention my doubts to anyone but the elders, but you know how things get around once the elders (and their wives) know about it. They think I am not submissive enough and should just put up or shut up, but I won't. I wish I had given to charity years ago. I did give when I was RC but, becoming a JW soon put a stop to any charitable acts on my behalf.

Hi Lisa,
I know as a JW I would never consider doing anything for charity - it just wasn't acceptable. By donating to charity, you were saying that you did not trust Jehovah enough to sort things out. I was told that there was no point in JWs taking part in any sort of relief aid (except if it was for other JWs) because anything we gave would be short-lived. The only way to TRULY help people was to pester the life out of them by calling at their homes at the most inconvenient times to get them to buy a WT or Awake mag. I used to really long to take part in Children in Need or one of the other big fundraising events or buy a poppy or something because it gave immediate help to those in need. But NO! By giving to charity I would be supporting Satan and his demons! How sick can you get? And how gullible could I have been????

Big Effort, Tiny Results
by JeffT inwe've talked before about how ineffectual field service is, but i decided to test the idea.
i asked the question "what do you know about jehovah's witnesses?
" on a non-witness related board and got some interesting results.

I know that I always got annoyed because I seemed to always end up sharing some territory with JWs who took ages at each door. They would knock 4 or 5 times, even though it was obvious there was nobody in. They would then dawdle down the path, rummage in their bags, chat to each other and walk veeeerrrrryyy slowly to the next door. I counted once and, me and my partner did 3 doors for everyone that they did! I used to get so annoyed.
And I used to hate it on a Saturday or Sunday morning when I used to get some poor person out of bed. They had worked all week, were looking forward to a lie-in, and here I was at 9.30 in the morning, grinning at them whilst clutching my magazine/brochure/tract or whatever. It's a miracle more people weren't rude. On the whole, most people were ok, even when I got them out of bed when they had just come off a night shift!

Valis,
I was interested that you came across this site while looking for something else. I was looking for some info on Moses when I came across it and I haven't regretted it for one minute. I am so glad to know that I am not as freaky as my elders make out. I have learnt so much in such a short space of time.

This is one of my main gripes.
No matter how good or decent & hardworking a person you are, no matter how loving and caring, you don't measure up to being a true Christian (JW style) if you don't put in enough hours. They judge you by your hours. I don't care how many times I am told by the elders that they don't - THEY DO. They don't take into account any of the other things you do. You may be a good listener, always ready to help those in need, generous and kind, helpful and loving, but none of this matters! They just want to see high hours and nothing else will get them off your back! It really makes me sick.

Magic Money, a tale of circular idiocy..........
by WingCommander inhere is an example of just how stupid the attitude of some congregations seems to be.
i'm sure we've all seen this example of stupid circular economics in action.
end of the world - just around the corner.. don't get an education or a job - end of the world is near.. need a job in order to keep up with the buying of designer suits or dresses, a new bmw or oh yeah, a newly built home would be nice too.

I have often puzzled over this. We are told to put the kingdom first and not be materialistic, yet those who tell us these things are the ones that have the big cars, huge houses, rich parents etc. I am so sick of hearing elders talk down the idea of further education, especially in areas where, if you don't have some sort of formal education, you can't get a decent job. Also, one elder I know is always saying how we should not put too much emphasis on money or material possessions. Yet, he comes from a rich family and has never had to worry about money in his life - he is rolling in it. It is easy to say we should put our trust in Jehovah when you don't have the bailiffs banging on your door!
