had a discussion with my wife about kh/assembly hall builds and i told her i don't believe the watchtower society follow osha standards on there build sites.

she trumpted it up that the borg follows stringent pratices and there standards would be more strict.

i laughed and said....ya i don't think so.

Of course they do!

Just like the bone-head RBC oversneer that I saw first hand on the last KH project I was at some five years ago. He came in, spouted off about "safety" and how we were showing loyalty to JAH by being obedient, and how anyone not following the safety rules would be barred from the site, all the while standing in front of the "Hard hats must be worn at all times" sign with his tucked firmly under his arm!

I guess the "rebel" in me came out because I took mine off, tossed it in the corner and said, "If you don't have to wear one, neither do I!"

I was "invited" to leave, which I did.

wow, it's true - they don't call to 'promote god's kingdom' anymore but just their website!.

we just had an old lady call and tell us that was exactly what they were doing and it has "lots of good things on their for children".

What's even weirder than the campaign is to hear it mentioned in prayers:

"Jehovah, please bless this campaign to advertise your website, JW.org."

I've heard it a few times now, and I shudder every time.

I know the last prayer at the KH I heard the guy "praying" said, "Thank you father for the technology that the Governing Body has provided for us to be able to reach even more people with good news on jw.org."

And here I thought that it was Algore who invented the interwebs, according to him.

You are told that you must leave in your car this afternoon and drive to Florida. You would be verrrrrrryy worried. Does my car have gasoline? Are the tires inflated or are they flat? When was the last time I changed the oil?

But if you are told to drive to Florida next month THAT'S different. You have time to make sure you have gasoline, the tires are up, and change the oil!

That, according to him, is like faith. God through the Bible gives you advance notice so you can get prepared.

I thought the premise of the illustration was pretty stupid. Only an idiot would run around with a vehicle that they didn't know was fueled up, properly inflated tires, and proper engine maintainence. But I guess in JW land that is standard operation procedure?

That person needs, not only talk therapy, perhaps pharmaceuticals to balance body chemistry, all skills not taught at the Kingdom Hall.

But I thought that the WT said skills taught at the KH were better than any eight year college degree? We all know don't we that the only reason anyone would get depressed, or have any emotional problems is a lack of personal Bible study, or prayer. It's their fault they are ill.

Gawd, just trying to mimic those idiot eldurrs made me puke in the back of my throat.

Testimony card returns

old timers, or careful readers of the proclaimers book, are familiar with the "testimony card" used in the early days of rutherford-era door to door witnessing.

the jw would traipse up to a house, knock, hand the card over to the householder, and wait while he read it.. well, it seems that "everything old is new again".

Something Big is Coming...

the annual meeting of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses will be in october 2014.. .. in november 2013, just after the last one they published this now famous statement in the 15th of november 2013 watchtower page 16 paragraph 17 says:.

"at that time, the lifesaving direction that we receive from jehovahs organization may not appear practical from a human standpoint.

all of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not.".

I believe that soon "nu-lite" will be trotted out that the Revelation number of 144,000 will be determined to be symbolic, as is every other number in Revelation. There will be THREE groups of people, not just TWO as is taught currently. The "little flock" Jesus referred to will be the first century Christians who were actual contemporaries of Jesus and his hand picked apostles. The great crowd (Rev. 7: 9) will be an unknown number of Christ's followers who will be in heaven. The "other sheep" will be those who believe they will live forever on earth. The teaching of the generation that saw 1914, and now an overlapping generation, will be quietly dropped.

That would explain away the growing number of partakers at the KH's and buy quite a few more years of waiting for the end to come "soon".

Giving "Jehovahs spirit" credit for mundane, everyday things!

i am hearing this more and more and it is like nails on a chalkboard.

i hear it from the wt, from elders, from my parents and from jws in general.

Its always "jehovahs spirit etc" when things go a certain good way!

But when things go bad it is just God letting you be tested? At the same time they will tell you there is no such thing as karma or fate. Either God and the devil control your every action or they don't. Can't be both ways.

What Specifically Are the "Sins" Due to Imperfection that We Commit Each Day ?

as jw's we are constantly reminded that we sin each day due to imperfection.

but when bringing up the specifics, i have never gotten a good answer.. several times i have even mentioned to others of my getting up on a sunday morning, reading the daily text, studying the watchtower for the afternoon meeting, driving to the meeting (under the speed limit), answering at the meeting, (not using more than one towel in the restroom), going out in service later in the afternoon, coming home, having dinner, and then in the evening preparing for a part for the ministry school.. i didn't recall scheming in my heart about doing something bad or anything like that.. so, specifically, where does the "sin" come in?

and if what i did was sinful, how can i improve on it?

I see that you didn't mention worship of the GB in your post...now THAT is a big sin in WTland.
