What happened to politeness?
by Seeker intwice in the past week, from two different posters, i have been called an "asshole.
" in both cases, the person made an assumption about me based on something that was said in a thread.
in both cases, i responded by saying i disagreed with their characterization and explained why.

A general apology
by Seeker ini've been a bit short with people today in the forums, and i shouldn't have been quite so abrupt.
i get frustrated when i see exjws make the same mistake and join up with political groupthink just as they used to join with governing body groupthink.
it's all propaganda, as i keep trying to point out, but the fact is that you can believe whatever you want without my input.. i realize i keep harping on conservative hypocrisy lately, but that's because they are in power right now.

Secret military tribunals and historical precedent
by Seeker inthe subject of secret military tribunals has been raised here in recent months, and i've made no secret of my displeasure at such moves.
it was pointed out to me that president lincoln also did this, something i was not aware of.
however, i have recently read an article in the feb. 2002 issue of the atlantic monthly that discusses the world war ii precedent cited by bush for these tribunals.

Power, corruption, religion & politics
by Seeker ini find it amusing but disconcerting to see the blinders on people's eyes when it comes to politics.
here we are, most of us having been jws, but now we are fully aware of the corruption of the wts, yet we are blind to the same thing happening in politics.
this is especially true of the more conservative members among us.

W. busy 'restoring dignity to the White House'
by Seeker injust a reminder to all those partisan politics folks that both republicans and democrats are dirty, lying thieves through and through.
conservatives enjoyed piling on clinton and getting all frothy about how he dishonered the dignity of the white house.
then george w. promised to 'restore dignity to the white house' and instead of viewing this as a typical political lie to get elected, conservatives bought it hook, line, and sinker.

My 2001 Top Ten List of Movies
by Seeker inok, folks, the year is almost up, and it's time for the critics to post their list of the ten best movies of the year.
since this is subjective, everyone's list is unique, and here is my list.
feel free to comment with your own selections, or even disagreements with my choices, though i'm not so much interesting in arguing the worth of a given movie as i am in seeing what the consensus for the best movies is.. i can't think of ten really great movies this year, but i can easily come up with the 5 best, in ascending order to number 1:.

Why conservative Christians are disliked
by Seeker in(ap) "the proliferation of interfaith services after terrorists struck america have unsettled some conservative protestants, who feel joint worship violates their belief that christianity is the only true faith.. in one case, the rev.
david oberdieck filed charges with the lutheran church-missouri synod over a fellow pastor who joined non-christian clergy in the sept. 23 yankee stadium service, ``a prayer for america.''.
``i wouldn't have brought charges if jesus christ was confessed in such a way that he stood out from the smorgasbord of gods,'' said oberdieck, pastor of trinity lutheran church in lebanon, mo.
