Professor Brian Cox Quote
by doubtfull1799 injust finished "the forces of nature" by brian cox, an amazing book and highly recommend.. i loved this quote at the end - so poetic coming from a physicist:.
"our planet is vanishingly small in the vastness, which implies that each of us is also vanishlingly small.
we must come to terms with being of no cosmic significance, and this means jettisoning our personal and collective egos and valuing what we have.

Its all about Jews and Gentiles
by Steel inwe you still in the borg when you realized the new testament is about god and the jews and god and the church and basically this whole transfer process from jewish law to this becoming the new person in christ.
its rather weird i once believed in heavenly hopers and earthly hopers and faithful slave classes etc etc.
its seems like something from star trek.

In which month did Jesus die?
by Doug Mason ini am putting this out as an idea, as something to think about.. this assumes that the death and claimed resurrection of jesus has soteriological significance.
i am not seeking comments on the veracity of that position, nor with endeavouring to identify any model that provides an "explanation".. i am simply asking, did jesus die in nisan (march/april = "easter") or would it have had proper soteriological significance if the events took place in tishri (september/october)?.
is it possible - and i doubt there is any way of knowing - that the early christians found it useful to incorporate existing pagan "spring" festivals, as this enabled them to differentiate themselves from the jews' heavy focus on tishri?.

The people who decided the Scriptures
by Doug Mason inmany people over many centuries have been involved in deciding which documents were scripture.
there has never been unanimous agreement, including today.
only the church of rome took a vote on the canon.

Suicides
by new boy ini have been on the phone the last to two weeks calling people i've known over the last forty years most of who are still jehovah's witnesses.
some of these people who didn't know i was "out" talked to me and some who knew i was "out" still talked to me.
some of the those people are even elders.. by book new boy will be dedicated to all the people who have killed themselves because of being a jehovah's witness or knowing others who were jehovah's witnesses.

The great 1914 turn around
by Sour Grapes ini must say there is no other religion in modern times that has lied more to their cult followers than the watchtower company and no more brain dead, gullible cult members than the jdubs.. just three examples.
when russel was in charge 1914 was prophesied to be the end of the system of things with armageddon and the earthly paradise.
that didn't happen and poof now 1914 was not the end, oh no, it was the beginning of the end.. the second example, the generation that saw 1914 would not pass away before the end came, which meant in all jdubs minds that paradise had to be here in the late 1990's.

You are NOT alone !
by stuckinarut2 inthis post is mainly for our new forum visitors and members.
perhaps even those who are just lurking or visiting here but have not yet signed up.
maybe you are in the initial stages of researching and finding out the earthshattering and life changing information about the religion that you once held dear and called “the truth”.. it can be a very stressful period of time as you realise that your whole foundation has changed and that the people in your life that you call friends or family may not take kindly to the things you have discovered.
