Will the Watchtowers growth in the third world keep them around for decades to come?
by tootired2care ini suspect the wt is going to continue to see slowing growth in all western lands as time goes on.
it seems to me though that there is so many potential suckers out there in the third world that will keep coming into the wt because of lack of internet, education or falling victim to love bombing as many of us did here at one time.
i think it's going to get really tough for them as the western land money dries up though.

How did you break the news to your parents?
by tootired2care inso one of the things both me and my wife are faced with is breaking the news that we've stopped going to meetings to our parents.
my wifes parents could go either way, they have made several critical remarks of the wt over the years, while my parents are die hard jw's.
i tossed the idea around of sending a letter or doing a phone call or just not saying anything.. we've decided that were just tired of having to hide our true feelings and play pretend.

Freedom from religion foundation - I'm joining!
by tootired2care inafter leaving jw's i have come to really despise religion, and how it manipulates and controls people.
what really irks me is when people try to inject their religious ideals into public policy in this day and age.. modern examples of where the mixing of religion and politics is bad for people is; countries like iran, where you get stoned for apostacy against muhammad, or countries like england where they are allowing people to get sharia law going.
we also have christians trying to get their ideals back into governments and schools like prayers at schools right here in the u.s.. imho such things are unnacceptable for public policy in this age of scientific understanding.

Recovery - Why so much intellectual dishonesty?
by tootired2care inrecovery likes to point out little nit-picky technical with the jwfacts.com website.
recovery to me is aptly described in jesus illustration as the one who strains the gnat but gulps the camel.. why can't he acknowledge any of the responses and evidence presented to his questions in the threads that he's created?
furthermore why doesn't recovery use the same critical standard on the organization that has claimed to be selected by christ and is spirit directed?

High gas prices / Extremist Muslim regimes / China playing everyone for fools?
by tootired2care inthis is probably a dull topic for some, but i did some research out of my own curiosity, and just wanted to put it here for my own future reference, but i'm also curious to hear your thoughts on this as well.. -----------------------------.
muslim extremism is still a big problem, and a major threat to world energy markets.
examples iran, muslim brotherhood in charge of egypt etc.

Congregation By Laws?
by tootired2care inperhaps this was already discussed in another thread, if so i apologize in advance; but i was visiting some family several months back and we get into a conversation about their local congregation.
one of my family members helps with some of the book keeping in that congregation.
after a while he started talking about how the elders received some wierd letter from the society stating something to the effect that the congregation must put together or enforcing something for "corporate by laws" or "congregation by laws" - i'm not sure which.

New type of spider discovered is believed to be one of the most 'evolutionary unique' on the planet
by tootired2care inapparently they have just discovered a completely new type of spider in a cave in southern oregon, very different from other spiders.
i thought this was a very interesting find.. "the 'cave robber', a newly discovered spider believed to be one of the most 'evolutionary unique' on the planet.".
