Stronger than Hypnosis
by Londo111 inbeing the society is anti-hypnosis, i know very little about it.
but from what i've observed it often involves willing participants focusing their concentration, usually involving repetition, until the subject is in a state where suggestions can be implanted in their mind.
bite can involve hypnosis, but in many instances it may not.

How BITE applies to non-Witness groups
by Londo111 ini am trying to compile information of how the bite system applies to groups other than the witnesses.
this will help witnesses consider the bite model in a non-threatening manner, because it applies to the 'other guy' and along the way they will see, hopefully, how it applies to their group.. .
for starters today, i found this link interesting.

Origin of High Control Groups by Natural Selection
by Londo111 ini'm about halfway through reading steven hassan's 'combating cult mind control', a very enlightening read to be sure.
there are many misconceptions as regards high control groups and mind control.
the popular conception is that of a nefarious mastermind that is knowingly using mind control and deceiving their members.

What's your Myers-Briggs?
by Londo111 ini am infp.. some former witnesses in my hometown had a meetup last night...alas, only four of us.
but it turned out we had an infp(me), two infjs, and an enfp.
therefore, it turned out we were all idealists.

The Governing Body: the Harderliners versus the Moderates
by Londo111 ini was reading the rumors of the 2001 infighting and the near overthrow of the blood doctrine--and because of 9/11, the hardliners won the day.. .
that made me wonder: which ones on the governing body are the hardliners and which are the moderates?.
of course, it could well be that even the moderates have to tow the company line and not speak up, or else they will be shown the door just like brother ray franz was.. .

Analysis of the Book of Daniel
by Londo111 ini had hoped one or two others were about to start a thread on the book of daniel, springing off from the nwt conversation, but alas, nobody has yet.
therefore, i thought i'd start one--i hope that was not too presumptuous of me.
personally, i have nothing meaty to contribute to this thread, only questions and gut feelings.

The Manna of Music
by Londo111 inreading dncall's experienced today got me to thinking about the "kingdom melodies".
when i was in, i often felt like the israelites did toward manna, and felt guilty about it.
this was reinforced as a child when i expressed my opinion toward the songs and my father gave me 'correction' by literally kicking me in the behind.

Marginal Notes in the 'Shepherd the Flock of God'
by Londo111 inelders of the jeroboam/conscious class, .
it is my understanding, correct me if i am wrong, that during the km school, the instructors have elders write notes in the margins of the shepherd book, notes that legal does not want in print, and perhaps by extension, extra tidbits they don't want leaked to the public and/or average witness.. .
can you share some of these from the latest km school?.

Examples of Bias/Discrepancies in the New World Translation
by Londo111 into be fair, translating the bible is a huge undertaking, and in doing so, there are bound to be mistakes, or even limits to a committee's knowledge.
obviously, we cannot read the hearts of the four translators of the new world translation committee to know when they consciously or subconsciously altered renderings in to support doctrinal bias.
but more and more, i do come across things that feel askew to me.

What are the best Bible Translations?
by Londo111 ingrowing up in a jw family, my parents and my grandparents had many versions of the bible...not just the new world translation.
sometimes i read these.
but i always bought the hype that the new world translation was the most unbiased and most consistent in rendering hebrew and greek into the modern language.
