Good one, Nowwhat. I had a similar thought. Publisher Window Washer watches as his donation to the World Wide Work is put to good use entertaining the Governing Body entourage at the local Regional Convention.

A Growing Problem for Materialists
by Sea Breeze inthe famous double-slit experiment proves that light travels both in individual particles called photons and also as a mathematical probability wave.
matter itself exhibits this particle-wave duality which allows objects to exist in two different places at the same time, depending on whether of not you are looking (testing) at it.
scientists have recently been able to get molecules as large as 2000 atoms to exhibit this duality!.

jehober "always'" protects his 'loyal servants'?
by eyeuse2badub inlast week i watched the docuseries on prime video called “the last narc”.
it was mainly about the notorious mexican guadalajara drug cartel during the 70’s and 80’s and a united states dea agent, kiki camerena, who was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered in guadalajara, mexico in 1984. this is a very well-known and haunting event here in the usa.. however, there was also about a 7-8 minute segment during the docuseries that graphically detailed the kidnapping, rape, and murder of 4 jehovah’s witnesses that also took place just days before kiki camerena was taken.
the jw’s were 2 married couples, us citizens, dennis and rose carlson, ben and pat mascarenas.

The mental gymnastics Witnesses go through on this topic is of gold medal Olympic proportions. When such events happen and the Witnesses seem to be miraculously saved the response is - "Praise Jehovah! Faithfully remaining loyal to Jehovah and his organization will literally save your life." When such tragedies happen and the outcome is not so nice the response comes in one of two forms -
"It is as the Bible says, 'Time and unforeseen circumstances,'" or
"They must have had a 'secret sin' that caused Jehovah to remove his protection."
So, the question to present in the 2 tragedies listed in the original post is this - Which was it? Did 2 JW couples who moved to a foreign nation because "the need was great" end up raped, tortured, and murdered because of dumb luck or did they have a secret sin? Did 43 Witnesses drowned to death after being swept out to sea because of dumb luck or were all 43 committing a secret sin that caused Jehovah to remove his protection?
A Witness might respond "Sometimes Jehovah protects his faithful people because they yet still have some purpose to fulfill got him." To which I would respond, "Do you mean the same God who has 8 million servants worldwide, but who would use rocks to cry out if no one proclaimed his holy name?"
In short, the Watchtower's own teaching in writing states that those 2 couples had to be allowed to be tortured, raped, and murdered to prove that humankind needs God and to prove Satan's claim that humans do not need God a lie. 43 Witnesses who agree with that statement had their lives cut short by drowning at see to prove that same point.

Why Jehovah`s Witnesses are wrong emphasising the name Jehovah.
by smiddy3 inhi friends, feel free to correct me where i`m wrong with this post.after all it`s just my observation of jw`s and the bible.. in the beginning of gods dealings with adam it was on a personal level , god to man so to speak.. god then dealt with humans via the patriarchs , then with the levi priesthood ,then judges ,( and a woman was a judge ) then kings ,somewhere in between all of this prophets played a major part ,and then came jesus christ the messiah.. and to my knowledge god has not validated a successor to him with any evidence i`ve seen .. jehovah`s witnesses claim to be christians but have with no new testament backing usurped jesus with jehovah.. this period of time ,until god says otherwise ,christians are to give honour and glory to none other than jesus christ .. that is the name that is above any other name until god says otherwise.
phil.2:9-11. not the name jehovah .the bible never says anything about a kingdom of jehovah ,the coming kingdom is the kingdom of jesus christ with his associate 144,000 earthly subjects.. this is just my understanding of what the bible actually says .. whether i believe it or not is another matter..

You Know You're A Jehovah's Witness When...
by pale.emperor inyou know you're a jehovah's witness when.... being offered a scholarship to a good university is considered a bad thing.. when you see a house you like you claim it for after your god kills the owner.. you recieve spiritual guidence from a bus driver and a window washer.. you're engaged to a person you only met 3 months ago.. your widowed mother is marrying a man she met at the convention who she's known for 2 weeks.. there's jehovah's witnesses meeting in your house on a saturday morning to talk about going out knocking on doors on a saturday morning.. a lie in on a weekend happens about twice a year.. you dont talk to your own parents/children because they have a different opinion about a magazine.. you're not quite sure what you're supposed to believe anymore.. when someone criticizes your a magazine you feel like you're being attacked.. your 3yo son owns a suit.. if you're not married by the age of 30 you're considered to be gay or something wrong with you.. (for girls) if you havent married the first or second person you've dated you're considered promiscuous or something wrong with you.. you get your scientific knowledge from a magazine written by people who've never been to college and have never actually read the source they claim to be citing.. you get excited if there's a storm or natural disaster.. you get excited when there's a terrorist attack.. you get excited when there's a pandemic.. your version of tinder is the lunch break at a convention.. your girlfriend dresses like her grandmother.. your grandparents, despite being in the same religion as you, died believing totally a different belief system..

Your grandparents, despite being in the same religion as you, died believing totally a different belief system.
Wow! Powerful statement indeed.
When you religious leaders flip-flop multiple times, in writing, on the same topic and you accept it as God making the lighter brighter and brighter...

Another example of. Brotherly love you can only find in jehovahs organization
by nowwhat? inso my 88 mil died and was the epitome of a faithful sister.
my wife and her sister are members of the congregation for 40+ years.
to be fair it was short notice but we had the showing and visitation and only about 12 out of 120 of the congregation showed up and only 1 elder!

truth_b_known
I'm sorry to hear of your family's loss. Peace be with you all.
I wonder if your MIL knew that only 12 people from the congregation would show to her funeral, and only 1 elder, if she would still believe that love was an identifying mark of the one, true religion.
I know my parents do not have many years ahead of them. I already feel sad about my father's future funeral talk. I wonder if the elder giving the talk will acknowledge my father believes he is one of the annointed and will mention my father's heavenly hope or will just give the same canned outline talk. Not to mention my father had a rather extraordinary life before he became a Witness. I wonder if they will mention any of it.

In a nutshell; the name "Jehovah" came into being roughly 1,000 years after Constantine I ordered the Bible be made. It is a made up name from about the 12th or 13th century that took the tetragrammaton (YHWH) and combined the vowel structure of the word Adonai ("Lord"). The Latinized name was translated to German and then German to English which gives us the final man-made product - Jehovah.
Pretty much all the names in the Bible have been changed from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to German to English. Because certain sounds do not exist in certain languages there have been some noticeable changes to names. That's how we get the English Jesus because there is no Y sound in Greek.

Worldwide preaching campaign targeting government officials.
by smiddy3 indoes anybody know what this message will contain ?
is it designed to provoke a response that will bring persecution on the religion ?
or is it just going to be some meaningless weak campaign to get the rank and file all excited about it and achieving nothing.. or is it going to suggest to the government officials that this mob could very well be the next jonestown /wacol incident and we need to act now.

From my personal experience -
1. Elected officials have staff that read and sort their mail for them.
2. Elected officials listen to voters.
3. Elected officials listen to persons/groups who contribute to election campaigns.
A lot of paper, envelopes, postage, and time will be wasted.

Do Jehovah’s Witnesses “Witness” Any More?

I believe the almighty preaching work that was the centerpiece of the Watchtower cult has been in steady decline for years, but that the response to COVID-19 is the death knell. I grew up as a Witness through the 80s and 90s. I left in the 2000s when I was in my 30s and was completely out in 2010. I remember during the time that I was PIMI the door-to-door ministry was the central practice of being a Witness. Go to the 5 weekly meetings and, at a minimum, spend 4 hours knocking on doors on Saturday. To do otherwise was heresy.
Then the Governing Body decided to be the Popes of Warwick. Witnesses were ordered to stop doing research. The Watchtower will tell them what they need to know. That created a problem. How do you competently carry out the door-to-door ministry while being ignorant of the Bible and your own dogmas? Easy - enter JW.Org and the Youtube-esque Witnessing work.
Like the old colporteurs of the Russell days, Witnesses exchanged the portable phonograph for the iPad and the Studies in the Scriptures for the simplified issues of the Watchtower. Door-to-door Witnessing became robotic. Even trained chimpanzees could carry out the work. There was no more preaching and teaching. It's all an advertisement for a website.
Then COVID-19 hit. I never thought I would see the day when the Governing Body would tell their organization to stop participating in the public ministry. I could see them saying don't go door-to-door. The in-person, face-to-face ministry was the central practice of being a Witness. Only those with extreme physical restrictions were told to do phone Witnessing or letter writing.
How many times were we guilted and shamed with stories of Witnesses in the former Soviet Union who risked their very lives to informally Witness to a co-worker, someone on public transportation, or on the street corner? Yes, actually risk public execution for such a thing. Now, it's stay home and tune in to JW.Org because of a virus that you may or may not get and if you do it probably won't kill you unless you already have an underlying illness or you're old.
The Governing Body may tell Witnesses that it's alright to go back to carrying on in the public ministry sometime next year, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a significant number of Witnesses claim they would be unnecessarily risking their lives to do so. I see the fear or perceived fear of communicable disease being the new crutch Witnesses use to excuse themselves from attending meetings and field service.
Witnesses are obsessed with being text book doctors and holistic healing. The love self-diagnosing themselves with diseases both real and make believe. They are huge supporters of faux-medicine such as essential oils and other "natural remedies".
I think the future of being a Jehovah's Witness is sitting on the living room couch with a mask on while watching JW.Org saying "I'm a Witness," like Ralph from The Simpsons.

1914 Dropped
by pale.emperor inso i was observing an online conversation between a jw and a former-jw.
the non-jw pointed out that wwi cant have had anything to do with satan supposedly being "cast out of heaven" because wwi was already well under way in oct 1914.. the jw proceeds to explain that satan was actually thrown down to the earth in 1915 and that he started to wreak havock on the earth from heaven knowing he was about to be cast out.. so 1914 is officially old light now?
does anyone have a source for that or was this brother lying through his teeth?.

Watchtower 2000, January 1st, pg.8, par.10
"True to Bible prophecy, this world’s “conclusion” began in 1914 and was marked by the outbreak of the first world war. (Matthew 24:3, 7) There is strong evidence that Satan and his demonic hordes were cast out of heaven following that year.""Strong evidence?" Notice the word "strong," which is an adjective to describe the evidence. If it were strong why do only Jehovah's Witnesses believe this?
If I said that I found strong evidence of intelligent alien life that had come to Earth what type of evidence would you expect that I had found? Video or photographic evidence? DNA or tissue samples? Alien technology? Alien alloys from space craft?
I think the whole conversation is just an exercise in the Watchtower moving the goal posts again to support their conspiracy theory. It's all speculation and conjecture. There is no evidence.
