The "Ransom Sacrifice" short version.
by Norm inin the christian part of the world not many of us have escaped the much hyped and published sacrifice christ supposedly made when the romans executed him.. i myself was going around for years parroting this strange concept without giving it much thought.
thinking and faith some times do not mix very well.. anyway, apparently god made a royal blunder when he created the first humans and they plunged mankind into death and despair first crack out of the box, while god stood by and watched helplessly.
then we are told that god for this reason, in his infinite wisdom took mankind for ransom for thousands of years.

The "Final solution" Watchtower style.
by Norm inthe final solution watchtower style.. we have been told on this board lately that the watchtower society preach the good news and that is one of the good things that set them apart from christendom.
people who call the watchtower society message good news has hopefully never really given much thought to what is going to happen if their good news should become reality.
let us investigate what these good news is all about.. the 22. may, 1999 issue of awake!

In there no good in the WTBTS??? or ourselves??
by jst2laws inwe hopefully all agree it is wrong to reject an entire race because we have found one of its member to be flawed, or to reject an entire concept an the basis of finding a flaw in its argument.
would not fair people look for a way to accept the good in the concept, modify the flawed portion and rejoice in what was gained from the refined concept?
it would also be wrong, as the wt does, to reject an entire institution because some of its precepts are flawed.

Interesting essay on Mithras
by expatbrit inbeen doing a bit of reading on mithras.. this essay contains some interesting information.
count the parallels between the legends of mithras and that of christ.. one of the "proofs" given to show that the gospels must be divinely inspired is that relatively simple men of the first century could not have fabricated such a powerful mythos.
a simpler explanation is that they merely made use of thousands of years of pre-existing religious ideas, shaping them to fit their own needs, as follows.. expatbrit.

A different thought re "flickering light&q...
by comment indoes it seem plausible to you that some of the society's apparent flip-flops on doctrine are simply errors by the writing department?.
for instance, take the question of whether the inhabitants of sodom and gomorrah will be resurrected.
around 1989, the revised edition of you can live forever in paradise said no, the insight book said something else and the revelation climax book said something else.
