  i just thought i would post a little about myself here, even though some of you might know me from the "beyond jehovah's witnesses" forum.

  my name is bradley and i live in a suburb of chicago illinois.

  i'm currently twenty six years old and left the jws about nine months ago after a year and a half of intense doubts, many hundreds of hours of research, cognitive dissonance and bouts of vomitting (stressful, eh?).

  WHAT DID YOU MISS OUT ON WHEN IN THE BORG

  we as a family allways wanted a family pet as in (dog ) but as the ministry loomed every weekend ,as well as the meetings we decided that it would be to much trouble ,subconciously the influence came from other members in the congregation ,which in turn came from the elders in turn from the bethel ,allways sprouting on about the ministry first ,you never had time for anything elsemow ,yes a dog would be to much trouble,but now,for the past two /half years my younger children are enjoying the companionship of an animal in the house,as well as 2 cats which we have had for past eight years,.

  did you find time for animals.. what did you miss out on ,allso for past 14 years we have had different caravans and motor homes ,.

  what did you miss out on when in the borg ,and how did it affect you.

  january 26 is a particularly hard day for me.

  two of my children were born on this day, five years apart.

  i can't wish either one of them a happy birthday.

  been a witness all my life all i see is negitivity,why.do you have nothing better to do than to type your life story on how you left the truth,who cares..im happy where i stand

  Could you be more precise please?

  If you mean, a hater of groups that tend to destroy peoples lives, I guesss so.

  If you mean, a hater of groups that put themselves in Jesus' place as mediator between God and man, I guess so.

  If you mean, a hater of groups that try to control every aspect of a persons life, I guess so.

  If you mean, a hater of groups that can't get their teachings straight and have to constantly change them because they have been wrong and yet always insists they have the 'truth' straight from God, I guess so.

  If you mean, a hater of groups that tear families apart because a family member might not want to be a member anymore due to the fact that they found the group to be nothing more that a high control cult, I guess so.

  If none of this is what you mean, please clarify.

  Otherwise, this is just a place where people that have something in common congregate and discuss what we all have in common.

  You are more than welcome to join us in our discusions.

  Maybe you can enlighten us.

  as witnesses, we were admonished to never look at horoscopes because they are demonic.

  many jw's that i knew of would not even look at a fortune cookie because they could be "demonized".

  i read my gemini everyday.

  being a jehovahs witness, and why i had to back away for five years of a life long membership.

  the improper handling of my daughters abuse by the leaders.

  being required to shun family members or you will be disassociated.

  It's amazing how many refuse to believe this to be the case with JWS.

  They are guilty of idol worship.

  The WTS IS their God.

  After all the proof that is out there, after all false prophecies, after all the false teachings, after all the unChristian behaviour, Most JWS will continue to worship the WTS as if it is God.

  My story...

  okay, i've chatted with several of you and i thought it was time to tell my story.

  it all began during the gulf war early in january 1991. i was concerned about the war becoming the end of the world and naturally, because of my lifestyle, i began asking myself what i intended to do with my life.

  a pioneer sister worked in the office where i worked, i knew she was a witness and studied the bible so i asked her opinion on what was happening.
