The 1975 Generation---are they still around?
by minimus ini was raised as a jw and 1975 expectations were pretty intense.
as i recall, most people did not leave after the failed expectations but many s l o w e d down.
now, i think most of the 1975 witnesses are gone or barely in.. is the older generation still around in the kingdom halls or are they much gone?.

I graduated high school in 1975. I am aware that some of my peers are still in, but many are out. I suspect that maybe 30-40% have remained.

Nobody at work knows what JWs believe
by Athanasius inrecently susie, one of my co-workers mentioned that her husband's family were all jws.
the family converted after susie's husband left home, so he never joined the jws, nor does he intend to.
anyway another co-worker asked her: "what do the jws believe?".

There is a reason why the "preaching work" is so ineffective. The effectiveness was never the goal. The goal is to keep the R&F busy. Selling magazines used to be the goal, but no more. They are trying to keep people busy for the least cost possible.

Mark Sanderson Talk re Belgium visit
by Listener inthe degradation of the governing body members continues on.
mark sanderson gives a talk regarding his visit to belgium for the memorial this year and was travelling from korea to munich to brussels, belgium on the day of the belgium terrorist attacks.he cannot wipe the smirk on his face as he relates his experience, with no regard whatsoever of all those unfortunately affected by the attacks.
in fact, he personally found god's hand affecting him personally, allowing him to attend the memorial as planned and a kh dedication.he is that privileged during his flight travels that internet was available to him, enabling him to catch up on current news and to contact branch's.

Oh no Dan 2.44 is being fulfilled. My ex told me so it must be true.
by KateWild inso my 14 yr old son and i are sitting discussing the eu election vote, and joking around that the we could see a future with donald trump and boris johnson being the uk and us leaders.
we were swapping pictures and jokes from facebook.. but his dad is sitting there waiting until we leave, and comes out with "well daniel 2.44" which reads.......... "and in the days of those kings the god of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin.
and the kingdom itself will not be passed onto any other people.

I don't quite see how the Brexit events clarify world events as promulgated by the Watchtower. For example, do we now know who the king of the north is? Anyone can quote a scripture but just quoting a random scripture does not create value.

Thank you for the update. The ethical response to this is for everyone to sit tight and let the process move to completion.

How long can this cult remain with only kids becoming members?
by Crazyguy init's become clear that very few from outside the religion are joining anymore.
if only the kids of the people that are already in are the one replacing the members as they die off and 50% let's say of the kids leave then how long can they realistically last before the downturn becomes obvious?.

Keep in mind, they want a smaller group of faithful followers. The value of a new follower is less than zero. Each new follower creates risks. The organization is doing fine making money off real estate. They need just enough followers to allow them the tax benefits of a religious organization. Any more than the minimum just creates contingent liabilities.

I Didn't Belong
by Nihilistic Journey ini remember an art project when i was six years old.
the teacher handed out felt pine trees that we glued to burlap sheets.
everyone then attached little pieces of colorful material to the felt trees.

by Greybeard injust called into the kingdom hall, speaker said he couldn't tell if anyone was listening to his talk now that everyone uses electronic devices and nobody laughed... well i did!.
he also mentioned when everyone used the bible he could hear the pages flipping and he knew they were following along.
this was really funny to me.

"he could hear the pages flipping"
I smell apostates in the midst. Shouldn't these super dubs be looking up scriptures on their iPads? This should be a silent "flipping."
