Are teenagers old enought to get baptised?
by sleepy ini, like many on this board got baptised when still a teenager (17).. at the time i thought i knew what i was doing and could take full responsibility for my actions.. 10 years later i realise i knew very little back then compared to what i know now.. was i old enought to make my mind up?.
or could we always at any age ,be looking back at things we did wrong thinking if only i knew what i know now?.
actually how much responsibility can we hold over what we did as teenagers .weren't we pushed by the congregation and parents, we had little knowledge of anything else being force fed the "truth" since babies.. at such a young age aren't we much more vulnerable to brainwashing ?.

Why don't people like me
by joelbear ini've recently discovered that the great majority of my problems are my own fault.
which leads me to conclude that it is also my own fault that people don't like me very much.. y'all have pretty much seen me at my best and my worst.
why do you think people don't like me?.

I'm not D/f or D/a and my dad wont even talk to me
by LyinEyes inthe last time i heard from my father, was last july , a few days before a special assembly day.
he heard that we were not going to meeting anymore, which was stange since hubby was an elder last time he thought to check on me.
i have always been the good daughter, the one who stayed in "the truth" , the one he was so proud of.

Sloppy typo in the Watchtower.
by Nemesis ini was just wondering if this typo is in the us version also?
its in the 1 may 2002 watchtower p.31 on the far right block of text on the seventh line down:.
and members of the great crowd are not in the inner courtyard of jehovahs great spiritual temple, which courtyard represents the condition of prefect, righteous human sonship ot the members of jehovahs holy priesthood while they are on earth.. i know its just a small typo, but i have never seen a mistake like this before [to my memory] in the watch towers literaturehas anyone else?.

TV & Kingdom
by WildTurkey inhow did going to the kingdom hall, interfere with your tv viewing?
i love watching american football, so right after the meeting all in my family would go straight for the car, so we could catch as much as possible.

Query - Luke 17v21/Acts 1v18
by musicnonstop inhoping someone can enlighten me here.... the above couple of fragments of scripture popped into my head the other day... in the nwt, the first refers to jesus' words re the kingdom of god being "in your midst" (which other translations render as "within you"); the second, referring to judas' suicide, says he "noisily burst in his midst" .
i don't have a greek interlinear these days, so what i'm wanting to know is: is the same original greek term used in both cases?
in luke, the wt's rendering carries the sense of 'among'; if you go with the 'within' rendering, then it would be feasible (to me) that the same word would be used in both places, as what happened to judas could be said to have happened from 'within' him.. i'm curious because if it is the same word both times, then the 'within' rendering would make more sense, and would confirm jesus' words on the nature of the kingdom of god, which might be handy to bring up with my jw mother at some point.
