I got an e-mail for a long-lost dub friend
by Mackin inthere is this woman i used to correspond with back in my dub days but lost contact with several years ago.
anyway just the other day she sent me an e-mail out of the blue.. she wanted to know if i was "in" or "out" as she was planning a trip to australia and if i was still "in" possibly we could meet (obviously i would have to travel to oz).
she had heard i wasn't going to the meetings any more.. i replied that i was definitely not "in" any longer but that i wasn't da'd or df'd and if she wanted to read my story i provided her a link to my story on this site.

Tales of the ANNOINTED
by moman ini met my last "annointed" in 1992, her name was dawson & lived in a small town in the middle of nebraska.. her grandson, a funny, but wild & heavy drinking dub, introduced us & they spent the night at our house.. she was a life long dub & we could see she was a real mental case.. my wife & i kept the door to our room locked & they left early in the morning without saying a word.. she had long straggly white hair & eyes that could turn you to stone.. her grandson told us that one night, under a full moon, she was seen chasing a chicken, hatchet in hand, in her nightgown.. i was told later that she had lost a child to cancer & i felt bad for her, maybe if she had not been raised a dub, she would have received some professional help.. that was just one of many nutty things that helped me see the wt for what it was, a goofy cult!.
any other true stories?

Defacing Watchtower materials
by Ephanyminitas inhey, folks.
just curious: did any of you ever deface your magazines?
i had a friend growing up in the congregation and, kids that we were, we'd snap up our new watchtowers and awakes and we'd draw our own captions for the pictures, usually with hilarious results.

JW blurb on FOX NEWS CHANNEL
by mole intonight at the beginning of the "hannity & colmbs" program, the topic of the jw who is suing a doctor for administrating a blood transfusion against his will, was debated for about 30 seconds.
both commentators agreed that this is a "tough subject," however each felt that "religious freedom must be protected.
" sean hannity ended by saying that "there would be more about this later.

'The Assembly days'
by jolly_green_giant inremember going to the 3 day assembly every summer, sitting for numerous exhausting hours on end?
those were tough on me especially when i was really young and wasn't supposed to be roaming the convention center while the talks were being given.
i couldn't beleive those pricks with the "please be seated" sings.

CO sheparding call today!!
by mole inthats right, the co along with one of the local elders paid an unexpected visit to my wife and i this morning.
i was just busting at the seam to bring up the un fiasco but i refrained as they do not know i have made my journey to the darkside.
my wife just glared with the "looks that kill" as they spewed the usual "time is near better not persue a career" line and i should be providing "spiritually" for the family.

WT "Spin"
by mole inwithout trying to sound like a wt writer myself, i find it amazing to see how the wts takes a subject and uses its crafty wording to mold the thoughts and opinions of the average r&f "dub.
" in doing some research on the un wts connection, i came upon a wt article from feb. 15, 1993 "are jw's a cult.
" (and they fit the mold big-time according to their own definition!
