So, apparently I hate myself....
by EntirelyPossible ininstead of doing what i normally do on sunday mornings after i drop the kids off at their mom's house, that is, go play golf, smoke a cigar and then watch sports with my buddy (or go to the range, depending), i am instead, for some reason i haven't yet fathomed, am watching john hagee preach on tv.
it's raining today, so i am at home instead of being out.. ostensibly, i turned on the tv to watch/listen to espn while i clean up around the house.
john hagee was on when i turned the tv on, i was instantly fascinated.

Science rules
by EntirelyPossible inhttp://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/media/releases/johns_hopkins_researchers_return_blood_cells_to_stem_cell_state.
johns hopkins scientists have developed a reliable method to turn the clock back on blood cells, restoring them to a primitive stem cell state from which they can then develop into any other type of cell in the body.. the work, described in the aug. 8 issue of the journal public library of science (plos), is chapter two in an ongoing effort to efficiently and consistently convert adult blood cells into stem cells that are highly qualified for clinical and research use in place of human embryonic stem cells, says elias zambidis, m.d., ph.d., assistant professor of oncology and pediatrics at the johns hopkins institute for cell engineering and the kimmel cancer center.. taking a cell from an adult and converting it all the way back to the way it was when that person was a 6-day-old embryo creates a completely new biology toward our understanding of how cells age and what happens when things go wrong, as in cancer development, zambidis says.. chapter one, zambidis says, was work described last spring in plos one in which zambidis and colleagues recounted the use of this successful method of safely transforming adult blood cells into heart cells.
in the latest experiments, he and his colleagues now describe methods for coaxing adult blood cells to become so-called induced-pluripotent stem cells (ips) --- adult cells reprogrammed to an embryonic like state, and with unprecedented efficiencies.. zambidis says his team has managed to develop a super efficient, virus-free way to make ips cells, overcoming a persistent difficulty for scientists working with these cells in the laboratory.

I would just like to say....
by EntirelyPossible in... that getting up early sucks ass.
i have to do some work, do some laundry, catch a flight, blah blah blah.
i much prefer staying up until 3 a.m. and sleeping until 9 to this whole "being up by 6" thing..

I heard his voice today, and now I feel removed from his presence
by EntirelyPossible ini heard his voice today.
it was full of authority of old, full of gravitas.
it meant something to me, it spoke to my heart.

Help! Instead of worrying about Jesus today... I may have been evil in the sight of the Lord
by EntirelyPossible ini got up early, did some work, went to the market and got some fresh ground italian sausage, went to the farmers market and picked up some locally grown organic tomatoes and cantaloupes, went home, made fresh pasta sauce from the tomatoes and some herbs from my garden, made dinner, decanted a bottle of red zinfandel, had dinner with a lovely woman, sat on the couch with some wine and fresh fruit and watched corialanus, spent some quality time together, then cleaned the kitchen and dished and now i am watching tom waits on david letterman.. i seriously considered playing golf today, but fresh made pasta sauce was more important.. i didn't worry about jesus at all.
am i evil?
i may have committed a biblical sin after dinner and a movie, if that matters..

You lucky people get an entire week without me....
by EntirelyPossible inwhen i close my laptop tonight, i am sleeping for a few hours, taking a plane to lax, going fishing off the coast of catalina, playing golf, going to bishop to go trout fishing for a few days, taking the redeye back, picking up my kids and taking them to the zoo.. so, when, shortly, i close my laptop, it will be roughly one week hence before you have the pleasure of my wit, comedy and all around general awesomeness.. have a hell of week, folks..

JWs wouldn't preach despite multiple opportunities...
by EntirelyPossible ini was on a date tonight, eating in a cuban restaurant owned by jws (they have never met me, incidentally, the food was really good) when i realized that there was not just one, but two conventions in town.
one was the standard english speaking district convention folks, the other was the asl folks using the assembly hall in town for their district convention.. my date, who knows all about my jw past, tries to strike up a conversation with some of them sitting at the bar, asks them what they are in town for, etc.
they just said "for a convention".

I think God is trying to tell me something
by EntirelyPossible inin the past month, i've two very powerful experiences that make me think god might be trying to tell me something.
let me relate these experiences.. about a month ago, i was looking for something missing from my life, i felt empty.
i went in search of something to fill the emptiness and suddenly found myself face to face with jw's in service and immediately after i no longer felt empty and i found what i was searching for.
