There's currently a Reddit thread discussing some JW carts stationed outside one of the shelters. Some interesting comments, for sure.

there are other threads dealing with jws actions, or non-actions in response to the houston flooding.
i started this thread to find out specifically if kingdom halls, or assembly halls are being used to help victims.
not just other jws, but innocent victims of all walks: men, women, children & pets.

organizational accomplishments - building a solid digital foundation.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aai46ng2f74.
organizational accomplishments—building a solid digital foundation video will be considered the week of september 11, 2017.
Haha! This video reminds me of a "behind the scenes" Bethel tour I was part of several years ago. The guide walked us through some offices and conferences rooms ("ooohhhh....ahhhhhh!!! So exciting!!") not on the typical tour path. The guide was especially proud of the spider phone in one of the conference rooms.
The guide acted like it was some super-duper secret advanced technology they'd obtained from NASA or the NSA. Apparently not too many Bethelites have spent time in real world offices in the last, oh let's say, 15 years.
Every single piece of technology shown in that video has been common place for years, if not over a decade, in most companies in the real world.

"The Law of Christ -- Why Superior?"
FIRST: THE LAW OF CHRIST IS COMPREHENSIVE—COVERING ALL AREAS OF LIVING (10 min.) The law of Christ has far fewer direct commands than the Mosaic Law The law of Christ emphasizes decision-making based on principles Principles are often much broader than laws and may be applied in numerous situations, making them superior to laws Laws tend to be narrower, specific, and may need to be amended or even replaced over time
Bahaha! Yeah, sure. It's true that the "law of Christ" may have fewer direct commands...but to make up for it, the WTS comes up with as many "laws" that need to be "amended or even replaced" on a regular basis.
on my way into town from my office.
two carts set up a few feet from each other.
one manned by a man and woman (i assume they're a couple) in their late 30s.. the guys walks off to the other cart as im walking by, i wasn't going to approach but the woman holding the awake!
The man told her "i was talking there, do you mind?" she backed away.
I would have said, "Wow, you sounded exactly like Jesus just now! I'm sure he's proud of you" and walked away.
That guy seems like a Grade A jerk.
it seems that every 2nd witness often posts pictures of themselves at conventions, or out in 'service'.
but i have noticed that they never seem to post anything about the actual "spiritual content" of their activity!
instead, it is pictures of them with their witness "friends", along with some contrite comment like #bestlifeever (arrghhh).
It seems that every 2nd witness often posts pictures of themselves at conventions,
Honestly, I think half the time they're just posting their requisite convention pic on IG to show off how nice their outfit is and troll for compliments.
looking for anyone who was a regular at this congregation back in the 70's and 80's; my father just passed away and these were golden years for me (inextricable from my youth) despite any ill-feeling or resentment i may hold towards the faith at this point in my life (my father remained a witness until his death a few days ago).. thanks in advance.
.
I suggest you also post over on the exjw reddit, as there are a few people there from the Greater Springfield area (e.g., Chicopee, etc.)
bbc news website has this linked on front page.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40704990.
I would agree that by the BBC not being exceptionally clear or correct about the reasons behind a particular disfellowshipping, any PIMI JW will immediately dismiss the entire article as untrue and apostate lies.
On a side note, apparently about the only thing that has remained completely unchanged in the last 50 years of the Watchtower is the font they use for signage at the conventions!! Holy crap!!
i just learned that my wife's congregations will soon be disbanded.
her congregation will disappear (cahuenga spanish in north hollywood in southern california).
all the members will be added to other neighboring congregations.
The number of self-deporting undocumented/illegal (your choice of term) immigrants in the US has been significant in the last year. It's no secret that many Spanish congregations the West Coast of the US have/had a significant number of members who were living in the US illegally.
I'm sure the numbers of people deciding to self-deport, or not even come to the US in the first place are having an impact on publisher numbers in the Spanish congregations.

no mention whatsoever that it was watchtower themselves that strongly hinted towards this date.
instead they blame those who "put their trust in a date, not jehovah".. let's recap... .
Prepping their audience for another disappointment? He was "dedicated to Jehovah, not a date". What other dates might they rethinking?
That's what I'm thinking.
i don't think this topic has been discussed before but yesterday i read something to the effect that trump wants a human mission to mars to be completed within his presidency.. with that being said, the watchtower teaches that what started on earth ends on earth, in other words, the fall of adam and eve would end with the passing of the 1,000 year millennial reign when christ destroys all his enemies, rebellious "perfect" humans, and the devil and his demons who are let out the abyss for a short while.
he then hands the kingdom back to his father.
an elder in my old congregation once told us during a public talk that he was an ardent astronomer but then referenced the scripture where it says, "the earth he has given to the sons of men" (psalms 115:16).
I recently participated in the following discussion with a couple of J-dubs:
If Satan and his demons were cast down (and restricted) to the earthly realm in 1914, does that mean if humans started a colony on Mars that Satan and his demons would be unable to influence them?
It was interesting to see how everyone sought every possible scenario of how those settlers would, in fact, continue to be subject to Satanic influence. It was if they actually preferred that scenario vs. one where a person could actually escape the clutches of Satan.
