Take the bus instead of driving drunk
by Jim_TX ini would like to share an experience with you about drinking and driving.
as you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years.. .
well, over the weekend my friend & i attended a christmas party & knowing full well we may have been over the limit, i decided to do something i've never done before - take a bus home!.

Ladies, be careful what you send us guys out for...
by Jim_TX inso this morning, i was out and about.. the wife tells me to bring home a couple of christmas stockings to hang, so that we can put our small goodies in them.
(we have some already, but they're in storage, and we don't feel like digging through several storage boxes just to find them.).
all the places have very little left, and people are madly buying up what is left.. .

Close Encounters of the JW Kind...
by Jim_TX inthis morning (like many other mornings) i went to the local 'stop-n-shop' to get my wife a pint - of milk.
she likes to drink a bit of milk during the day.. anyway, on my way back to the vehicle - as i got in and was reaching for the key to start it up... an elderly lady (well... probably about my age - sheesh!
) with grey hair, approached my car with a handfull of magazines - and said something along the lines of.... 'pardon me sir,...'.

Let's get that field service time in...
by Jim_TX ini normally don't go around looking for jws.
after my morning coffee and breakfast taco at jim's, i went over to big lot's to look around.
outside of the store, they have an island where a couple of trees were either saved - or planted - and provide a nice shade during the day.. under these trees, in the shade, was this fella - dressed in nice slacks and a shirt - wearing a tie - reading - or flipping through what appeared to be an 'awake' or a 'watchtower'.

Reverse Witnessing - 101
by Jim_TX inon the weekends, i am usually found - in the mornings - at the local coffee shop - where i study - and madly write my new ideas - or expand on old ones.. it is a time when i put to paper all of the thoughts of the past week - and dream up new ones for the next one.. anyway, on sunday mornings, there is a retired schoolteacher lady who - with her husband show up after their church services and have breakfast.
she will usually try to find an open pair of seats at the counter next to me - to talk with me.
this morning, they sat next to me, and she began talking (which usually interrupts my solo quiet time).. during the chatter, she asked me if i was into sports when i was in school.

Seasonal songs allowed...
by Jim_TX ini remember growing up - i hated seasonal things at school... halloween, thanksgiving, christmas, etc.. in grade school (at least when i was growing up) we usually had some sort of 'music class' where we had songbooks passed out and the teacher would make us sing songs - albeit poorly.. around christmas, there were a lot of them.
i remember being prompted at home about which songs were just 'seasonal' songs - or neutral, and were allowed... and the others were not (which usually mentioned the word christmas - jesus, etc).
soooooo... i'll start the list of 'acceptable' jw songs.... .
