Are there any instances of "GOD" order and/or condoning the rape of women in the bible?

this came up recently with my dyed-in-the-wool jw pioneer mother, who swears up and down that there are no scriptural instances of this happening.

i seem to remember a couple passages, but can't remember where they were..

Hi Midge, welcome to the forum.

Your story seems to imply that ex-JWs reject the scriptures, and perhaps faith in god, because of bad experiences of spiritual abuse. It's a generalisation we have heard too many times to count on this forum from believers of all varieties.

Personally - and I know from past conversations that this is true of many others - I reject belief in any sort of god, respect for holy books as sources of wisdom, and faith as a means of discovering anything true and/or useful for good reasons that have nothing to do with the cult. I'm sure you didn't intend to be patronising but there you go.

Having said that I have always enjoyed contributions from Jewish members of the forum. Their perspective often makes a refreshing change from xtian fundamentalism.

Since 1919 of our common era, [we] has been put in charge of some belongings of Christ. According to Matthew 24:47 when [we] are taken to heaven Jesus will then at that point entrust all his belongings to [us]. Does this not reveal immense trust? Revelation 4:4 describes [us] as co rulers with Christ. Revelation 22:5 says [we] will rule, not only for a thousand years but for ever and ever. What immense trust Jesus shows toward [us]. Since Jehovah God and Jesus Christ completely trust [us] should [you] not do the same? ...

So, whom do you trust? You fully trust in Jehovah, Jesus and [us]. To a reasonable degree you also trust all of your fellow Brothers and Sisters...something else we need to trust in – God’s Word...

Notice the contrast between unquestioning trust in the GB and trust of fellow Brothers and Sisters 'to a reasonable degree'.

Funny News From My Old Congragation - Elder Fight!

i haven't stopped laughing since i heard this.

a pimo in my last congregation told me that an elder has been removed from his elder position.

apparently he grabbed another elder by the throat, put him up against a wall in the back room and punched him in on the nose... during an elders meeting on thursday evening after the meeting.. the congregation were running round like headless chickens wondering what to do?

has anybody else noticed a pattern that is here among us outcasts?

there seems to be, on average, a higher level of intelligence here than there is at the kingdom hall.

actually, intelligent conversation seems to be looked down upon among the witnesses.. also, the simple language skills found here seem to be above average compared to those among the witnesses.

for almost 12 years now, i have been coming to this site on a regular basis and in the last 5, i “faded out”.

i never regretted this and never will.

unfortunately though, yesterday, i realized that, until i can publically tell all my old acquaintances why i have left, i will never be truly free.

Im Writing An Ex-JW Self Help Book

we all know waking up from the cult and trying to leave is a very scary and life changing experience.

for many it's traumatic and few find the transition easy.

we have to deal with families cutting us off entirely or keeping us at arms length at best, lies being told about us by the organization, ex members gossiping about us and finding ourselves in a world very different from what we're prepared for.. for this reason, i've decided to start writing a self-help book informing jws of what to expect when they leave the org.
