The US Government actually deserves credit for the WT heading it's way down....
by EndofMysteries inthe government wanted the wt shut down as well.
they found out that the wt teaches all it's members not to get an education, not to get any good paying job, to spend all their time placeing magazines and being window washers.
so they said, we'll make the cost of insurance, infact require insurance by law, increase the cost of living on everything, then the wt members won't have any spare money to donate and the wt will just fade away due to lack of money.. so the wt after the economy and all cost of living going through the roof the past few years, plus some lawsuits, is suddenly cash starved.

How can we be sure the Bible has not been changed?
by Doug Mason inat page 63 of its book, reasoning from the scriptures, the watchtower society poses the question: how can we be sure the bible has not been changed?.
the reasoning book opens its response with a citation from a book written in 1929: the bible from the beginning by p. marion simms.. i have prepared a study that examines whether the reasoning from the scriptures book accurately presents the position presented by simms in his book.. http://www.jwstudies.com/we_can_be_sure.pdf.
does simm's book really say that we can be sure the bible has not been changed?.

If our favourite religion/harlot did not baulk at interpreting in line with their tradition and dogma when they were supposed to be translating instead, what must their predecessors not have gotten up to (Rev 17:5)?

Musings about different types of atheist!
by Seraphim23 ina thought that occurs to me is that if one has the belief that all that is real is only explicable in terms of particles and forces, and that nothing exists that is not one of these, then good and bad doesnt exist either, the same would be true for any concept for that matter.
or perhaps it is only true when reduced to the level of matter and forces, but without the moral force, meaning and purpose that such a materialist only description would entail.
after all, if death is forever, which is materialist view, then what does it matter if a seventy or seven year old enters the grave?

Personally I sometimes quite enjoy musings, but what to do about that pesky rule 13 below that expressly bans them?
There is also the real danger of open-minded and friendly exchanges resulting from the heresy of musing.

Where Do You NOW Think Wickedness Comes From? The Devil or... ?
by LoisLane looking for Superman ini think wickedness comes from evil people.. there are many people in between the two extremes of, overly good people and overly evil persons.. i do not believe in a devil.. i think he is a concept dreampt up by evil ones to blame bad behavior, as a red herring, on anyone but themselves.. the watchtower makes up attrocious lies, brow beats good people not to better themselves,.
all the while, they are building their own empire.. they say, do not isiolate yourself.
it is not good for you.. but if you don't agree with them and their current teachings, you will be shunned, disfellowshipped.. that can and does, have earth shattering results.. so many things, i was taught as a born in, are now considered apostate teachings.

@LoisLane
I have benefitted from Psychiatrist Morgan Scott Peck's definition of evil as "militant ignorance" and his characterisation of evil as "malignant self-righteousness".
Through personal experience I have come to believe in channels or doors that connect the human spirit with higher dimensions, intelligences and consciousness. These appear to be thoughts, words, actions, emotions, feelings, habits, practices, attitudes and beliefs.
I have had face-to-face conversations with persons (especially Watchtower elders) who were channelling evil entities with defined agendas (obfuscation, misdirection, control, enmity, division, decay and death).
Then again I have had face-to-face conversations with persons who were channelling highly benevolent entities with opposite agendas.
As to the Devil blinding our minds to the unabridged "Good News" - well I have had firsthand experience with this in myself and others. Evil persons (especially Watchtower elders) show a distinct hostility toward and contempt for the unabridged "Good News" (and in particular for certain key ingredients such as grace, salvation, imputed righteousness, imputed sonship, and imputed holiness, and Jesus' mediatorship).

Please Hear My Confession, I lied to all my friends in the Kingdom Hall! Forgiveness needed!
by AuntConnie ini ask for the forgiveness of all the brothers and sisters who heard me lie and lie and lie about how my husband lost all his weight!
please make room in your heart to forgive me, it's rare i will open up myself to the scrutiny of jehovah's witnesses net message board, i try not to reveal too many things about my life.
i come from a fleshly family that is screwed up, we learned from youth how to use theocratic warfare even with other jehovah's witnesses asking innocent questions.

Do you have any "one-liners" for drive-by witnessing?
by Faithful Witness ini am looking for things i can say in passing, when i meet some of my jw friends.
we used to attend meetings, but have not been officially recognized yet, as apostates.
we were good and curious students, but fell away and were choked out by weeds.. since i will be renewing my bible student status soon, i am hoping this will open more windows into the organization.

Why are followers of the Watchtower discouraged from reading and teaching the "Good News" according to Paul?

*** w80 11/1 p. 7 Is It True that “All Have Sinned”? ***
Finally, false religion can lead us into sin. Apart from such wrong practices as idolatry and spiritism, which are expressly forbidden in the Bible, merely belonging to a false religion is shown to be sinful. Describing false religion as a great worldwide city called Babylon the Great, the last book of the Bible says: “Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues.” (Rev. 18:4) False religion is guilty of great sins. She has misrepresented the only true God, persecuted God’s true servants and mixed in with politics. All of those who belong to false religion share in those sins in that they support the organizations that commit them. -

Possibly in an article containing Rev 18:4?
*** g96 11/8 p. 8 One Religion Will Remain ***
The voice that John heard from heaven gives us a clue: “Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues.” (Revelation 18:4) It is evident that God himself is here speaking to his people. Note that he does not command his people to mix in with the harlot in an ecumenical effort to save her by helping her to adjust to a decent life. No, there is no remedy for her. Therefore, he commands them to get out of and stay away from her in order to avoid being contaminated by her gross sinfulness and to avoid eventually being judged and destroyed together with her.
