for most of my adult life i have always been reluctant to mention that i was raised a jw, just out of pure embarassment, it has always been a source of shame for me.
last night i was finally able to tell people that i work with that my family are jw's.
the whole thing that started the conversation was another officer talking about an inmate in the hospital having a blood transfusion, that was my way in to the conversation.
Junction-Guy...I think "anti-witnessing" is much more fun and fufilling than all the wasted hours I spent going from not-at-home to not-at-home. I think if I could do the "anti-witnessing" full-time, I might finally become a very, very special pioneer!

last week, my middle daughter, 15, found a large lump in her throat.
it was about the size of a quarter.
when she pointed it out, it was very visible.. the doctor said, after viewing the ultra-sound pics, that it was either a cyst with an unusual hardened mass inside or a carsanoma, [not sure of spelling] a cancer attached to her thyroid.
Hang in there Corvin. Most likely it is something minor and will be taken care of quickly and then be nothing but a memory. Things like this are very scary; especially for a 15 yr. old and her loving parents. I wish you a healthy outcome. The waiting for news can be excrutiating. Keep us all updated. Maybe all her worrying is getting her pooped out too. Sending a big ((((((HUG))))))

i am new to this site and am having a hard time seeing if this is for ex-jws or jw's.
i am an ex jw but am wondering why i have been given the staus of "newbie" a term widely used in the congregations for new comers to the "truth".
now, if this is for people who have left and are trying to get back on their feet again, why on earth would such a variety of titles be given to members on here??
Welcome scab...stick around...the labeling here is only superficial. They like to mess with our minds here...as if we hadn't had enough of that in the JW's. HA! Actually, this is a great group of people. Wide variety of beliefs, personalities and opinions on every subject known to mankind. I must warn you though; this site is not for the faint of heart, though the one qualification you must have to post here is to have a heart. That was decidedly lacking in the JW org. And there you go!

After being raised as a JW, leaving about 4 years ago and then turning the big 50 this month...I often question myself about having wasted the first (almost) 50 years of my life. Transitions take a lot of time, as has already been mentioned.
Maybe you can think of it like being in a coma for all those years and just now waking up. Look at all the wonderful things you can do that were denied you before. Simple freedoms that are not against anything that Christ would have taught. Look at the opportunities you now have to have a QUALITY life off of the Watchtower treadmill.

My personal nemesis was the Revelation book. Didn't we go through that 3 times??? That's enough to give anyone a brain hemorrhage!! Never understood a word. Good riddance.

was there ever a person that you just "knew" to be a "bad guy"?
i knew a co. his name was [edit] angelacos.
he loved to go into congregations and remove elders.
So many choices...so little time. In particular...the person who comes to mind is Brother Dirty Rotten Scoundrel. He raised havoc everywhere he trod. He lied to us about having a hand in the boycotting of our son's wedding (see my Topics for the full story). He had a history of harming innocent people going back about 30 years. He was a special pioneer and was engaged to a "sister" in Minnesota (now in our congregation)...then dumped her on the eve (or close to) of their wedding. His privileges were removed but he quickly wormed his way back into the graces of the Big Guys In New York and finally reached his goal of Circuit Bully Overseer. Can you imagine that he was assigned to our congregation where his former jilted fiance resided? (Now married with kids). Even my spiritually superior mother loathed him, as did many others in congregations around the circuit. (Of course, this info is just "heresay" through the JW gossip/slander grapevine; of which I confess I partook in on a regular basis...as per this posting...I'm still guilty of throwing around dirt on people who should be locked up and the key forever lost).
Actually I disliked most CO's...except for one who actually acted like a Christian should act; whatever your interpretation of that may be. And I can't even remember the guys name.
