Did they make you cry?
by sacolton innot me personally, but my brother-in-law was to give a talk and wasn't completely prepared.
his talk wasn't long enough.. the elder took him to the back room and belittled him to the point where he cried.
i guess this is what they mean by.

Went to a JW "funeral" on Saturday
by Dorktacular inmy brother called me late on the 13th to let me know that a friend of ours - who is no longer a jw - called him and said that his dad was being flown by helicopter to the hospital because he collapsed at home and had no pulse.
they took my friend's dad off life support on valentine's day and he died.
well, i was debating whether or not to go to the funeral because i have no desire to hang around a bunch of jws or set foot in a kindumb hall again.

Drinking & Jehovah's Witnesses
by minimus inyou know, i knew a lot of bethelites and every one of them loved their booze.
as an elder, i would entertain alot of the cos, dos and bethelites and their wives.
it was not unusual for the wives to get loaded while they were at my house!

Do you still pray?
by Layla33 ini was wondering about this the other day before i went to sleep, out of habit and my spiritual beliefs now, i spoke to the spiritual realm above and asked for guidance and protection.. i remember my journey of leaving the jw "borg" (a new term i have picked up here - i like it!
) and at first i refused to pray at all, and then i wasn't sure i wanted to or not, and then i developed my own sense of the higher power above and spirituality and every night before i sleep, i feel blessed to have another day of life, to do it all again.
even on days when i am not having such a good day, i take time to ask the higher realm for strength and direction.

Apart from "My Book Of Bible Stories" and the "Paradise" book?
by Crumpet incall it my anal retentious streak, but i've rated every book i've ever read since i was 7. i had phases of favourite writers.. i was an enid blyton fan - the faraway tree, famous five, secret seven, mallory towers series.
then i got hooked on franklin w dixon's hardy boys and judy blume's eye opening, straight talking stories about growing up which really taught me everything i knew about what life was like for a normal girl not growing up in the jw world.
i started reading agatha christie when i was 9 and remember taking the maximum number of books i could from the mobile library van that came to our village and being as impatient for its fortnightly return as i was for the afternoon icecream van.
