Did you really want to have "Privileges"
by JH ini don't know about others here, but i couldn't care less about privileges.. i had a couple of privileges, but i really didn't want to get too deep in the org and get too many privileges.
i didn't want to get tied down with that, and have to leave 30 minutes later every meeting, or have to spend an extra hour or two preparing for something.. .
all that counted for me as a dub was "paradise" and "eternal life" .

As an Elder's son I was happy for each and every "privilege". If it was a public talk, conductung my own CBS or cleaning the toilets at the convention site. An I was really proud of it feeling that Jehober was using my talents. It was in the later part of my "career" that I realized that I was a thankful victim for the elders for any work that they did not want to do.

they dropped this visiting rule. Now they only call if someone advises them that they may have had a change of heart and be repentant - who that someone would be when family members cant talk to you is i do not know.
The km 9/06 still had the annual reminder for the elders. However, they rarely follow this advice as I already pointed out in another thread;
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/124914/2294570/post.ashx#2294570"There is a rule to visit DA/DFed once a year.. We did a survey on the German board for people DFed/DAed:
http://www.sektenausstieg.net/smf/index.php?topic=8997.044.4% replied that no elder has ever visited them despite they would have expected it.
Another 42.6% replied that elders did not visit them and they assume that is because those elder see no hope they would ever return.
Only 13% got any visits of which 7.4% said that elders ceased visiting them. 5.6% said that they told the elders on their first visit to leave them alone.
So much for shepherding the flock."

For Lurkers: Is the cover of the March 15th Watchtower deceptive?
by seek2find inthe cover of this issue pictures a group of modern day people standing looking up as if looking to the sky and the title says something like "christ comming what does it mean to you?
" i think it's deceptive because witnesses teach that jesus already came in 1914. the article is talking about his comming to exucute the wicked and does not even mention 1914, but the photo and title on the cover would lead people to beleive that his comming is still in the future.
isn't this deceptive?

Maybe they are heading for some new light and will refer to this issue: "As early as the Watchtower, 15th March, 2007 ..."

Wikipedia objectivity objected to by a Charles Taze Russell fan

I think the Pastoral Bible Institute was founded in 1918 and they had their own Memorial celebration. That is also the reason why the WTS insisted that the "true" Bible Students werde selected in 1918/19 by Christ himself.

"There are two texts chiefly relied upon by those who claim that the Lord will not come until after the Millennium, to which we would here call attention. One is, "This gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Matt. 24:14) They claim this as having reference to the conversion of the world before the end of the Gospel age. But witnessing to the world does not imply the conversion of the world. The text says nothing about how the testimony will be received. This witness has already been given. In 1861 the reports of the Bible Societies showed that the Gospel had been published in every language of earth, though not all of earth's millions had received it. No, not one half of the sixteen hundred millions living have ever heard the name of Jesus. Yet the condition of the text is fulfilled: the gospel has been preached in all the world for a witness--to every nation." (C.T.Russell, Divine Plan of the Ages)

Faders: Would you prefer attention from the elders or not?
by ringo5 inthis question may produce some flaming, but so be it.
i've noticed many are freaked out, annoyed, worried, or simply felt harrassed when faced with the prospect of a visit from the elders when trying to fade.
others, or at times the same ones, complain that they recieved no inquiry from them at all or very little.

If you fade because of disillusion you wait for elders to come because that is what you have learnt all your JW life: that the Elders care for those "spiritual weak". When they don't, it is another disillusion for you. When they come, it is still annoying because they do not care about your concerns but just want to check if you can be easily reacivated or if you are dangerous.
