Mostly a waste of time. A lot of wasted energy too, trying to live up to impossible or just stupid standards. Yeah, some experienced gained. But one can say that about almost any difficult/challenging experience one goes through: a divorce, losing money in the stock market, serving in the military. As someone born in the trooth who got out at about 27 years old, any of the other previously mentioned challenging situations would have yielded experience gained in a much shorter time frame. So bottom line, gained some experienced, but not enough to justify the time lost. I DO NOT recommend it to any of my friends.

Do you consider your time as a JW wasted time??
by karter inmany of us have devoted a lot of time and energy to the jw's at the expense of other things like education , planing for retirement , family time just to name a few.. i don't consider it all wasted time there was a lot of good i learnt however i'm doing things now as a jw i never would have.. i don't have the same time pressure and never fell guilty about taking a lot of time out for myself as one elder said to me"if we don't keep you brothers real busy in the work of the kingdom you get swallowed up by the world" .

Watchtower Question from readers= Slams hunting??? Why???
by Witness 007 ineven though the bible does not condemn hunting watch them push their personal opinion and trun it into watchtower law.. watchtower dec 1 2007 p.31 "how should christians view hunting?
} "the bible does not condemn hunting or fishing.." {great leave it there..no need to push personal thoughts on brothers, right?
} ".....the apostles who were fisherman were likely gratified by a good catch.

The Apostles who were fisherman were likely gratified by a good catch. Yet, there is no indication that they bragged about their prowess at fishing or hunting or that they went fishing or hunting to compete with others, to prove their manhood, or to have the thrill of the chase, the fight, or the kill.
There's also no indication that they pee'd or pooped.

Will Jehovah re-instate Death by Stoning in the New System?
by PopeOfEruke indo you think that stoning as a form of death sentence will be re-instated in the new system once the "new scrolls" are opened?.
jehovah loved it once, why would he not bring it back?
it's such a humane christian form of killing someone, i am sure it'll be back!.
-
Hermano
Good question. Even if stoning isnt' the method used, the fact is that all who don't think/feel/act in the approved fashion will be eliminated. This is one of the things that made me realize I don't really want to live in the new
regimesystem. -

Things You HATED About Being a JW
by minimus inthere were a few things that i hated about being a witness.. i love music and live concerts.
quite often i'd have to play my music privately or hide an album cover for fear it might "stumble" someone.
i hated worrying whether someone was going to somehow get "stumbled.. regarding going to concerts, it seemed that certain artists only came to town on a meeting night and i'd miss the shows.. what did you hate about being a jehovah's witness?.

I hated that I wasted so much energy trying to get the approval of a "loving" God/Dad who is EXTREMELY picky and petty.

Proof WBTS is downgrading 1914
by yesidid inmaybe they're keeping the doctrine but they are not writing about it as much in the watchtower.. below are statistics from their 07 cd showing how many times 1914 was mentioned in the watchtower for each year 1950 to 2006 .
i have divided the years 1950 2006 into segments of eight excepting for the last, which is nine.. on the side i have the average for those years.
notice they have gone from 88.87 a year to 24.44. .

Interesting research... I agree 1914 is getting stale and they know it.

Comical Memories While You Were A Witness
by minimus inin all the years i was a witness, i must admit there were some pretty funny things that i can remember.
i can't forget the time after i had given a public talk and the sister who played the piano ran from the bathroom to the piano with half of her dress still tucked in her pantyhose.
brothers and sisters were trying in vain to run down the long aisle but to no avail.

The 15 year old son one of the elders in my congregation once came to the meeting drunk as hell. I mean, so drunk he didn't remember any of it the day after. Sad and funny at the same time.

Fairy tale characters / Bible characters
by LtCmd.Lore inthe day to day life of a bible character is pretty similar to that of a character right out of a grimms fairy tale.. witches are a real threat.
you can go down to the local spiritist and get really useful information.
you have your magic pots that constantly contain food, if that fails you can count on a bird to bring you food.
