Yay! I did. I resisted for as long as I could (9 years) because I didn't want to be the one that cut it off because it seems so mean. However, I did cut it off because it was the most toxic relationship I had and I couldn't justify it any longer. I didn't think I would feel better. But I felt relief and now I am happier than ever! You inner self appreciates it when you treat yourself respectfully, and that includes how you allow others to treat you. Good luck. And despite what the black and white world of witnesses tries to say, you can always change your mind down the road.

Have you put your JW family behind you? Are you content with your decision
by nicolaou injust feeling a bit fed up.
it's not always like this i know but i'm wondering if life would be far easier for me and my wife if i just drew a line under all my efforts to maintain a relationship with my jw mother, brother and sisters.
all the rejection, judgementalism and condescension gets a bit much after a while.. how many here actually said 'goodbye' to their jw family and can honestly say they did not regret it?.

Can we talk? . . .
by exwitless inhey, this is under jokes and humor, so don't get too offended.
i just wanted to vent about how people say things incorrectly, such as pronouncing things wrong or saying phrases wrong.
i'll start, and if you have any to add, please feel free.

I've seen a t-shirt you would like. It says: "Bad grammar makes me [sic]" ha ha. I have a habit of correcting extra "'" when I see them on fliers or on signs in places of business. I used to correct notes that I got from my friends at school or at the hall. Anal.

Stephanus - logic is man talk. A woman asked the question and maybe it wasn't following the rules of logic, but she still wants to know what is intimidating about women in general from men in general, just to give her some ideas about her situation. It might not apply, but it might help her understand something.

Dental hygienist for the past seven years. I'm getting my BS right now, but still can't figure out what I want to do when I grow up. Thinking of going to the career counselor, also I want to job shadow. Find people, go to work with them for an hour, see what they do, what they had to do to get there, $$$, lateral movement, vertical movement, etc.

I was an outcast in school, in the KH, in my family...I searched high and low the planet over, and then I finally found my people: the apostaho's. I love the way your minds make me feel.

I saw Conan O'Brien at the Sea-Tac airport. I was coming home from MOS school in my USMC Alphas - looking totally androngynous. He was super tall. I was like, "Conan! I love your show! You are so funny!" He said thanks. He is so awesome. I saw Anthony Keidas in Seattle near Pike's Place Market. I also went to the local comedy show in Seattle called Almost Live! and got pictures with the cast, but they are at home. We are in Boston for Christmas. We are going to Providence RI tomorrow for a party. BOSTON SIDE NOTE::: I'm watching Dating on Demand the Boston people. It's hilarious. It's like Craigslist meets Youtube. Oh yeah.

Could satan be the good guy?

Well, if he exists - he doesn't answer prayers. When I was DF'd in HS, I prayed to J.Hove and got no answer. And for about the last 15 years before that too, but that's another story. But for some reason (going out of my mind) I decided at least maybe Satan would take mercy on me and answer my questions. So I asked him to send me someone to fornicate with, but no one showed up. So I sort of thought, hmm, no lightning, no cracked earth, no flames, no answer, no nothing. But yeah, it was curious that the way people talked about him at meetings, there wasn't really any scriptures to back up his badness. H to the Izzo was the one killing everyone. What's the devil without hell? Interesting thoughts.

flected the thought patterns of jehovah's witnesses.
other words, the brainwashing thought patterns instilled.

I don't know if 'bouncing back' is the right way to put it if you were raised in it, because there is no 'back' for you to 'bounce' to. It's more like clawing your way up to the light after being buried alive. I don't think I've fully integrated into a totally healthy mindset, but I'm at least 75% there most of the time. It's too complicated to really describe how I did what I did, all's I know, is that I don't lay awake most nights wrestling with my mind. I'm at peace, but it took years of reading, a mountain of faith (in facts, in me, in life, not god per se), and years of talking. Last night, my cousin's gf was asking us why witnesses do or say or believe this or that. I love the feeling of not really knowing why, like forgetting! My brain isn't all twisted and contorted and in cognitive dissonance anymore. I just asked her if she'd like a free home bible study and she's like NO! So we were like, who cares why they are so dumb, let's talk about our lives and the future.
