Publisher statistics are for a giant printing company making profits from free distributors and near slave-labor costs, while it is profitting from such. No more true profit from the field from literature, so forget the PRC and convince them they need to be reaching out for JW titles.

(How) Will The Slow and Subtle WT Internal Shift Affect Us?
by Solzhenitsyn inas a "deep pimo" i can say that there is a confirmed re-branding.
the coordinators committee formed a focus group from service and teaching committees.
the results of that group roughly three+ years ago, with gb approval, trickled down to the other committees and eventually into what we have been seeing before our eyes in the org and local congs.. pick an organizational level and see the shift.

2018/19 new light
by Ray Frankz inhi guys, long time without paying a visit to this site.
today i returned to check a 'gossip' that is running around in brazilian exjw forums.. they are stating that is almost certain they will make a big change in their doctrine maybe this year yet in the annual meeting.
they say people in warwick were commenting on this.

When they went to the 1995 change for "this generation," I thought it was huge and they didn't do such major adjustments so often. Well, I just happened to join the cult after the 1975 and Ray Franz debacles, so they were low key with changes. But 1995 ended that.
I have seen "the end isn't so near," "education with a purpose," "OMG, the end is very near," "overlapping generation," "the Governing Body are the only FDS," and money-grabbing changes along with other stuff so numerous, I tire of listing them.
The election of Obama, the real estate market drop of 2008, the fall of the Soviet Union, good news, bad news, hurricanes, etc. all indicated the end was close.
I don't doubt they will announce something that seems big. They do it all the time now.

Who wrote the Bible?
by Ireneus inthe wordings suggest much of the bible is written by false friends of god.
to mention a few:.
1) god planted a special tree to pay the way for suffering and death into the lives of his children.. 2) god protected cain who murdered his innocent brother out of sheer jealousy.

To ask "Who wrote the Bible?" and question so much of it- that is the beginning of wisdom.
All should take their own spiritual journey about this question.

Basically, Watchtower "implied" very heavily that the end was coming in 1975. They left just barely enough room to say "We never DIRECTLY SAID THAT." Then later, Watchtower totally blamed the members for believing they said this.
Much later, when there was murmuring in the membership about whether they should take the blame or if Watchtower did indeed lead the people to believe they said the end was coming in 1975, they came out with "Okay, we did mention the possibility and we encouraged caution, but many focused on the possibility and we didn't really stop you from being wrong." -

Dec 2018 Watchtower Third Heaven & Paradise
by Listener ina qfr in the watchtower asks ".
n what sense was the apostle paul “caught away to the third heaven” and “into paradise”?—2 cor.
they've been flip flopping regarding this, stating that it is paul talking about himself to paul talking about the congregation and back again to paul talking about himself.it appears that three years ago david splane gave a talk during the convention explaining their latest ideas and it has taken all this time for it to get into print.

It is sad that so many "geeks" will waste their time learning to speak Klingon. I wish Star Trek had put the Navajo language into their Klingons and then a dead language would have been revived.
I feel similarly now with complicated doctrines from the Bible, including but not limited to Jehovah's Witnesses.
Enjoy this stuff if you must. I will tackle understanding things that actually add up to something.
Sorry to flame this thread. Go back to what you were doing. -

In which month did Jesus die?
by Doug Mason ini am putting this out as an idea, as something to think about.. this assumes that the death and claimed resurrection of jesus has soteriological significance.
i am not seeking comments on the veracity of that position, nor with endeavouring to identify any model that provides an "explanation".. i am simply asking, did jesus die in nisan (march/april = "easter") or would it have had proper soteriological significance if the events took place in tishri (september/october)?.
is it possible - and i doubt there is any way of knowing - that the early christians found it useful to incorporate existing pagan "spring" festivals, as this enabled them to differentiate themselves from the jews' heavy focus on tishri?.

I will go there no matter what you do or do not want in this question.
The Bible is vague about the alleged birth of this guy. But it's pretty clear about the time of death being Nisan 14.
I could argue all day about the whole thing being a myth, but if you want to suppose it is not, why would you want to doubt the book that you use to support your thought that he was not a myth? -

"We don't do that" - Serena Williams talking about celebrating birthdays
by vivalavida ini guess you can be physically out, like in a huge way, but definitely mentally in.. serena williams claims she won't be celebrating her daughter's first birthday.. i did know people like that, raised as a jw but never actually baptizing.
that didn't mean they were not messed up in the head though..

The people who decided the Scriptures
by Doug Mason inmany people over many centuries have been involved in deciding which documents were scripture.
there has never been unanimous agreement, including today.
only the church of rome took a vote on the canon.
-
OnTheWayOut
Deciding the "canon" and what did not make the cut was a big part of my self-education that helped free me from believing that any "inspiration" was involved in the writing of those books.
Another great factor was really discovering that no significant group of people on earth ever lived according to all the rules in the Bible. The Jews were given the rules and told that people "DID" follow those rules in the past, but that's just a fairy tale. -

New abbreviation POMOSI
by NeedToKnow ini was thinking that i’m not exactly pomo but more pomosi - physically out mentally out spiritually in.. anyone who is familiar with the life of raymond franz may understand what i mean.
so i haven’t been to meetings in a while and i’m so over the whole mind control thing but i do love jehovah and believe in his purpose for us.
the org doesn’t go about it properly imo so i have been doing my own reading and understanding.
-
OnTheWayOut
If it's POMOSI, then I assume you believe in some of what "Jehovah's Witnesses" teach or at least taught somewhere in the past. Perhaps you should look up the International Bible Students. (http://www.internationalbiblestudents.com/about.html)
I tell you what. I hate being preached to. I really do. So I won't "preach" to you why that would never work for me.
But I will say - drawing lines at what's true and literal and what's symbolic, how to discern ancient meanings of vague texts, and deciding what actual writings should be "the Bible" - all that makes it very hard to do a serious study of Christianity. Good luck.
edited to add: I think Ray Franz was still a bit POMI. I doubt all of us would agree on a clear separation between "spiritually in" and "mentally out."
