Do we need to experience the bad to know the good??
by lowden ininspired by a few posts from the 'suffering' thread, i pose the above question.. is it really necessary to experience or even know of evil deeds in order to appreciate good, benevolence, peace.. certain peoples and indigenous tribes have lived in peace and probably still do with little, if any, disturbance and malevolence within their communities.
they don't need evil to appreciate good, surely.. one current headline story over here in britain is of a 7yr old girl murdered, shot in the back by a drug dealer because she'd seen his face.
he's just got 40yrs in jail.

My son made me proud the other day.
by lowden inmy eldest son (19 in oct') went for coffee he other day with a former associate of his who is still a jw.
the conversation eventually came around to spiritual things and his friend, matt, started firing the questions.
how he felt about the faith, would he go back, did he still believe?.....

Hello..we're those TERRIBLE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES!!!
by lowden ininspired by scully's thread it made me think of what one elder used to use as his opening introduction in the ministry, which was the above statement.
it's very funny now, but at the time i was like..'whhaaat??
' he thought it would put them at ease, make them think we had a sense of humour.

Let's Impeach The President!! Mr Young on form again.
by lowden inhe may now be a bit of an 'old croc' but neil young has really pulled a gem out of the bag with his latest album 'living with war'!
i've been a fan for over 25 years now and this is a milestone album, probably the best since freedom or ragged glory imo.
he's very often at his best when ripping into someone or something, a brilliant writer when it comes to putting things simply and in a nutshell.. stand-out track has got to be 'let's impeach the president'.

Advice for Young Mothers
by lowden ina six year old girl checks out her book at the library.. the librarian stops before she opens it to stamp it and observes the title which says 'advice for young mothers'.. slightly shocked and very inquisitive, but with a wry smile the librarian asks, 'excuse me dear i hope you don't mind me asking , but why are you interested in this subject, aren't you a little young?'.
'no not at all' says the girl as she waltzes out with the book, 'you can never be too young to start collecting moths'.
peace.
