Email from JW relative/elder
by Lynnie inas much as i enjoy you and pete's company, you also know our understanding of how much we want you to be reunited with jehovah and his people.. .
we did not set the standards for what jehovah says about our associations with those who choose to not serve him.
so we will always be there for you and pete, but it is in your hands as to how we can enjoy your friendship.. .

These letters / emails ( of which like many I also have received a few when I stopped attending ) always seem to me to be very self indulgent. I can never really understand what the motive of the sender is. Do they seriously think that it will "shock the person to their senses" and they come rushing back , tail between their legs , into the Org. Or are they just trying to give some degree of self justification? I just don't really get it. -

by 30LPP inhello everyone.. first of all, i would like to say hello to all of you.i am not a jehovah's witness but i have been a child with "truth" because of my family.

So then an elder would be removed even though he repented ?
Yes. Once anyone is privately or publicly reproved , automatically all "privileges" and congregation positions are removed ( eg elder , MS , pioneer - right down to microphone handler ).

Science and Watchtower's astounding ignorance
by Diogenesister inwell these goof balls at jwbroadcast apparently think the study of pure science means not having any "practical application".
oi vey.
sanderson may speak russian but he is so ill educated he appears to think that researching a subject and formulating a theory about it means that's the end of it - in other words he's saying it has no practical use.

I could only watch the first couple of minutes , but the audience laughter that greeted his throw away comment "if you like insects" depressed me. It reminded me of the rare occasions when the GB would come to our convention and how they were applauded when their name was announced before their talks as they arrived at the rostrum.
It just reinforces the egos of these rather pathetic , deluded individuals.

'Experiences(tm)'! Made up or totally true??
by punkofnice inat one assembly(tm), i was asked to relate an 'experience(tm)' which i did.
however, during rehearsals, the geezer in charge elder or co or some such title, told me that i shouldn't tell it the way it was.
i did a 're-enactment(tm)' with another 'brother(tm)'.

One of the problems with regard to experiences is that the Society are often very specific in their instructions to the speaker eg "interview a brother or sister who came into the truth as a result of a witness from a workmate" or "ask a pioneer to relate encouraging experiences he / she enjoyed from the recent tract campaign".
In many cases it was impossible to find such an experience , so you are left with trying to shoehorn often virtually fictional experiences into the item. To make matters worse , the more humble JWs tend to be quite reticent about appearing , so often it is the more boastful "look how Jehovah has blessed me" types that come forward and usually these are quite willing to "amend" the experience somewhat , to put it mildly.
I recall one assembly when a young sister from my own congregation was being interviewed , much to my amazement. This was a sister who had several times been reproved for immorality and was a constant troublemaker but was portraying herself as a zealous spiritual giant and the most chaste virgin imaginable. It was the talk of the congregation afterward and many were astonished that she was being held up as an example.

What REALLY defines a person as being anti-Semitic?
by The Fall Guy indoes criticism or opposition to the israeli government's zionist agenda legitimately constitute someone being branded as an anti-semite?.
is it this definition which is actually being targetted at certain members of the labour party?

I'm no fan of Corbyn but I don't believe that he is antisemitic per se - he just has a long history of supporting the Palestinians , including some of the terrorist groups like Hamas. There certainly are elements in the far left Momentum group that are , though , and this is his power base.
I have always found it odd that both the far left and the far right have antisemitic agendas , but for different reasons and motivations.

Jehovah's house for Sale?
by JohnTron72 inwhen i drive by the kingdom hall i grew up attending at but, was sold directly to a church, i get angry.
the elders who handled the sale didn't even remove the watchtower shaped bricks on each side of the sign near the street so, now they advertise for a baptist church.
how many times as i grew up i heard things like: you should not do work ( such as clean carpets for a church) you wouldn't want to work at a cigarette making plant or a facility that makes bombs for the military.

I remember being really p&&sed off when I heard a KH which I had given up several weekends to work on was sold to a Pentecostal group. I actually took on the CO about it , asking him if it would have been OK for Solomon to sell the tabernacle or temple to the local Baal worshipers? He just looked sheepish , admitting that he really didn't have an answer , but we shouldn't "criticise the brothers". It was another of those "eureka" moments that led to me eventually leaving.
Ray Franz discusses this matter in one of his books , with some quite heartbreaking examples of JWs who were DFd for the most lame reasons for supposedly supporting Babylon the Great. The Org can pretty much do anything that an individual JW would be DFd for. Just hypocritical.

Same delusional people thinking they have been blessed by God because of a natural turn of events .
It is bizarre seeing the JW at about 42:00 on the morning session who claims Jehovah answered her prayer specifically asking her employer to give her a particular part time schedule. Does she not think that this was perhaps a flexible , supportive employer? And if Jehovah is so ready to micro manage events to this extent , why doesn't he step in and stop children dying or other vastly more important interventions?
It was this kind of arrogant , self delusional experience that really used to annoy me , even when I was an active , believing JW.

I'm faded , not DFd , and have kept quiet about my reasons for leaving the Org but nevertheless I got the "we don't want anything more to do with you until you return to Jehovah" email from my siblings ( 2 brothers / 1 sister ) ten years ago. Initially for the first 2 or 3 years , it was complete shunning.
Since then things have kind of mellowed slightly , especially with my sister , who is a more of a weaker , social type JW than my two brothers , who are the self-righteous JW "Society Men" types. This is mainly because our ( JW ) parents are very elderly , so occasionally there is "family business" style contact. It can be sometimes be pretty strained - the elephant in the room is a constant presence!
I'm guessing that when our parents die , things will revert to total shunning again. To be honest - all of our lives have moved on , we don't really have much in common anymore - their lives revolve around the Org hamster wheel of pointless activity - and they aren't especially nice people anyway - so I honestly don't really care.

Melbourne Convention Protest
by jonahstourguide inhi all.. i didn't want to post this in private because i want all to see what i saw.. the protest at the melbourne convention went superbly in my opinion.
the protesters and their banners were more than eloquent and succinct.
you could feel the emotion they all conveyed.
