I do, however, have an opinion based on my observations and some close people's (relatives) experiences, that some good little jw's get married just because they want to get laid and not get disfellowshipped. Sometimes they have to settle for what is available. There are so many constrictions as to how to get to know the opposite sex in their little cult cookbook. You can only go to so many gatherings with bible pictionary and charades with soda and chips. Maybe if more people chose to portray Delilah or that chick with Joseph? it would've been more enjoyable!!!

Update on my friend - the PO called

my friend marion has just arrived at my home, and she certainly has had an interesting few days!

she hasn't been attending meetings lately, and on saturday the po from her hall phoned to ask why.

actually, he had phoned several times before, and left messages, but she hasn't been replying and, in his own words, he is very concerned as to what, if anything, is wrong.. she remembers the conversation fairly well (pity she couldn't record it), and it went like this:.

Fricken shepherding calls. Nothing like one of those to ruin your Sunday (or what is left of it after the meeting). I remember when I was a kid who wanted to go play after but noooooooo. Those losers would come and read scriptures and make a mother of three and their kids feel crappy. Seriously, is there anyone who ever wanted a shepherding call? Ever have an elder leave your home and feel like they really did you any sort of favor (besides the leaving part)?

Ok, I sound kinda mean and I'm sure some of them meant well. I can only think of one I knew personally as a youngster who didn't seem too full of himself so there are some out there, but still, shepherding calls blew! Uplifting visits my a**.

It was all my Dad's fault!

dad came down this weekend to party with my brothers and i....... we have this huge on going july 4th party(all weekend) in my town called "river front rendezvous".

everyone goes for the food, beer, and bands.

little big town(country band) firehouse(go to love the 80's) were just a few that played there.

Now that is a fricken party. My dad couldn't handle the drink but I myself am rather sociable with a decent buzz. Haven't passed out in the grass since I was under 21 though.

many on here say they are being shunned by their family members.in some case this is probably true.

but seriously..could it be that they have a life and they may not have time for you anyway?

This is such an ignorant question. Of course people are being shunned. It is the policy. Sure there are those who do not always shun relatives, but they are breaking one of the JW 10 billion commandments. If you do not shun df'd or da'd people then you yourself may be next on the list.

My guess would be that if people didn't want to hang out because they "didn't think you were fun" it was going on before you were df'd.

What was the purpose of this question? Oh yeah, blame the victim. Maybe you deserved it because of how you were dressed, dear rape victim!

added* Oh yeah, and IT IS THE RELIGION THAT IS THE REASON! not just some stupid excuse. There is really not any debate about it. riverofdeceit of the got reinstated class so I could visit my mother (who didn't shun me) before she died of cancer without freaking out my other relatives (JW aunts uncles cousins) because I was df'd.

OMG Man cut in half by train calls for help

just heard it on the news.

he is now at the hospital and still alive.. they played the audio tape of him calling for help.. unbelievable.

in not certain if it was in the us or cnada - accents sounded like southern us but it might have been east canada

How the hell do you get hit by a train? He didn't hear it? Yeah they are sooooo quiet. He didn't see it? Yeah they are sooooo small.

I dont think we are talking about a lone rail where a train just passes through. I work in a rail yard and it isn't as unlikely for an accident to take place as it may seem. Railcars are constantly moved, changed, and unloaded and all it takes is for someone to have not raised a flag(which prevents the cars from being moved into a certain area). I myself am ultraparanoid about when I am tagging cars or taking samples from them, but when people get accustomed to working around it they may let their guard down.

i was recently discussing this topic with my "pentacostal" fire and brimstone preaching granduncle.

he said that alot of christians try to be "politically correct" and wiggle out of this question for fear of "turning" people away.

he said that most born-again christians that believe in hell fire do believe that jehovah is going to torment babies in hell if their parents have not accepted jesus as their lord and savior.

If you go by what the bible (old testament) tells of God then, yes. That dude has no problem killing babies. This is based on the presumption that the bible is reality, which it of course is not.

Weird is an understatement. I'm weird, dem jehovers are freaks. They live in the land of OZ, and worship a group of guys behind a curtain. They are afraid of smurfs, and unicorns. They play an f'd up version of jeopardy: Instead of "here is the answer, give us the question, it goes - Here is the answer, here is the question, give us the answer. I grew up with freaks, and it helped enhance my weirdness.

Not swearing is proof of the "truth"

this was a said by my jw relative to my never-been-jw husband this weekend, during a conversation about the prevalence of swearing.. "my friend maria's husband [was unbelieving mate, now a witness] always swore like a sailor.

he said he could see jehovah's witnesses had the truth because they didn't use bad language.".

for all the reasons for believing jw's have the truth, this was a new one to me..
