Is Dawkins the answer?
by Peppermint ini watched the second part of richard dawkins program yesterday evening -the root of all evil?- i really have enjoyed this program and have found dawkins to come across as genuine and humane.
the problem i have with the program is that i do not want to believe his point of view, but i am feeling more and more drawn towards it.
the point i notice most about his stance is that he feels religion and science just cannot sit side by side, you have to believe one or the other.

"no man hath seen God at any time"
by mdb inin the book let god be true (watchtower bible and tract society, 1946), p.86-87, section titled is there a trinity?, while attempting to disprove the trinity doctrine using 1 tim 3:16, it states:
the translation, word for word from the greek, reads, "who was manifested in flesh.
" the american standard uses "he who"; other versions use the word "which".

Pride in Statistics. How well are the JW's doing, really?
by jgnat inthis week's study article is: people "out of all the languages" hear the good news (december 1, 2005 wt) .
and they state "eagerly embracing that commission, jehovah's witnesses are active in 235 lands, distributing literature in more than 400 languages.
a recurring theme with jehovah's witnesses is pride in statistics; the volume of literature they place, the number of lands where their version of the good news is preached, their growth, and the number of translations available.

Did you criticise/expose the WTS after leaving?
by greendawn inafter leaving the jws as df/ed or disass/ed were you willing to expose them for what they are to others, or were you unwilling to do so because you still felt respect for them for being the "truth"?

How long are your....
by hamsterbait ini have noticed that the longer i am on this board, my posts (hmmm... what were you expecting?
) are getting shorter.
i want to cut to the chase quicker.. remember the days when you agonized and ecstasied over every full stop and comma, and tried to argue and defend every imagined counter point?.
