Just realized the above was not clear - I mean what bethel guy thought this up and got the application fixed with the UN? And what happened to him after the scandal broke and they had to cut losses and back out of it?

by lowden insince i joined the forum a short while ago i was confronted by the above scandal, hadn't known about it , haven't been in touch with anything to do with the org for a while.
so i've read all the posts and questions and i think iget the drift, but what i want to kno now is why did they do it?
i hear their excuse of the library card, but that's obviously a load of tosh.

Just wondering - didn't one or more of these threads theorize on the individual who did the actual leg work to make this happen?
Point being, does anybody know what eventually happened to him?

I once talked this alien H-bomb volcano story over with an ex-scientologist friend. He was actually on board that boat Apollo and was a sea-org member until he left. His reason was that he was not allowed to get close to or even speak to L.Ron. He remains an apologist for the belief system but thinks that the current admin under David Mascaivage is corrupt - not holding up to Hubbard's great body of truth.
This guy says the alien story is part of a training process in which they reach increasing levels of scientology - kind of like the degrees in Masonic orders. I think this story is told as part of the level three. Richard says that it is not strictly necessary to actually "believe" that crap, but that you must learn to absorb the ridiculous ideas while hooked up to their skin resistance lie dectector machine without flinching around very much. This is to be administered by a senior scientologist auditor - it can cost thousands of dollars to make it to these higher levels.
So, I suppose it is possible that some new recruits to this have no idea of this stupid story until they are so sucked in that they just go ahead and swallow it because they are already brainwashed to believe anything they are told. There is also very much an attitude that these type of teachings should never be revealed to non-scientologists because they simply would not understand...those swine would just trample upon L.Ron's little pearls of wisdom. In addition, they also have it rumored around that some of the even higher levels will KILL YOU if you are exposed to this knowledge without being sufficiently prepared (i.e. brain deadened). Of course, most of this junk is already out there in the free press for anyone to read if you make the effort to find it.
My guy also says that much of the South Park show was lies designed by the vast conspiracy of Scientology haters. It is very much like some of the posters here who have kind of left the society but still apologize for the belief system. Kind of sad, in my opinion.

Sadly, Bubba is no more. Seems he was taken while driving his beloved 4x4.
Last words were "hey - buddy, hold my beer...I'm a gonna try somethin!"

Canadian Bethel Farm Sold
by Bumble Bee ini heard last night that the canadian bethel farm has been sold.
the person told me that as a "special condition of sale" that they had to give the couple there looking after things 90 days to move out!
(law here in ontario requires 90 days notice given to tenants when a property is sold - so it's not really anything special.).

Mind Control Newsflash: Girl held against her will for 10 years
by Check_Your_Premises inhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060323/ap_on_re_us/missing_girl_found
the news story quotes someone who says "nobody will believe she was held against her will".
this is because she was an adult, and was free to leave the house at certain times.

If you don't believe this can happen, two more examples (besides the 6million JWs) -
That Oklahoma prison warden's wife that ran off with the life sentence murderer after helping him escape. She became his common-law in south Texas and they worked on a chicken farm. He apparantly kept her around just by mental control - told her that he would come back and kill all her relatives and kids if she ever ran away. They got caught when some neighbor recognized them from TV.
Patty Hearst - kidnapped but later became "Tanya the revolutionary" and shot up bank lobby.
Incredible that some pretty successful people can be blindsided this way and robbed of years of their lives.
We as exJW should be at least sympathetic to such stories, IMHO. But, I am still not buying that New York amnesiac guy who is getting all the press just now...

This sounds like a good excercise for the MythBusters show...they love to blow things up. I really want to see one of those drive motors turn 90000rpm. Just the sound of it spinning up would be worth it for me - even if it didn't blow the disk apart.
They also seem to be quite tolerant of myths that don't work, as well.
Might make good JW's...

The CO says --
by stillajwexelder inthe co has said in his latest talks "some have lost their sense of urgency and the organization is worried about it" .
even in the apostles day there was a a sense of urgency

Just exactly like Chicken Little -
You know, it would be silly (but a lot of fun) to imagine that they beat on those hundred year old false prophecies so long that all of theR&F just quit believing (no urgency at all) and then it really did come and they had no clue because they screwed up their end times for so long.
You know - GB to zombies: "Yikes - look the bad wolf really is in the henyard this time and he's eating all the chikens!!!"
Young zombies to GB: "OK, whatever---"
Boomer zombies to GB: "Yeah, sure - as soon as I get this new house built and fully invest my 401K"
Old time zombies to GB (from the "home") : "Hard to remember for sure now, sonny, but didn't you tell me this one a long time ago?"

Well, they do (or maybe did) own almost all the NYC buildins of the old Squibb Pharmecutical Company. One of my friends spent almost all his time at bethel trying to scrape the walls and repaint them... I don't know if they ever actually were used for anything but storing up those giant rolls of paper.
Depression? At least not for the top annointed - The Judge certainly did not seem too depressed during the "Great Depression" of the thirties, what with his V16 Caddy, the Euro cruises, the mansion, the whisky, and of course the little cuties Berthie and Bobbette...and of course - he's off to heaven and doesn't have to worry about cleaning up a worldwide post-Megiddo mess on a far greater scale of destruction than Baghdad!!!
But wait - some say he was depressed and just became a sick & tired & pissed off grumpy old man...who knows for sure?
