Driving pet peeves
by keyser soze ini have to confess that i sometimes suffer from a minor case of road rage, especially on the expressway, right after work.
i have quite a few pet peeves, but two that especially bother me.. first, when people apply their brakes constantly, and for no apparent reason.
it's generally people who have already cut in front of me and forced me to slow down.

What is it with frat boys and alcohol?
by John Doe intragic story this week.
a frat boy was walking home from a party, presumably drunk out of his mind, and fell asleep on the railroad tracks.
train comes, and you can guess what happened.

Sounds like natural selection to me. Nature tends to weed out the stupid people.

Did Noah's Ark have a Bilge Pump?
by VM44 inall wooden ships leak to some extent, so what did noah do about the accumulation of water?.
a bilge pump would have been essential.. did the noah's ark writer really know or have any experience about the construction of large wooden ships?.

I'm sure God magically evaporated any water that may have entered the ark. Of course the design of the ark was divine, so I'm sure it didn't leak.

Who here has just let the JW stuff go?. I NEED HELP GUYS!!!!!!!.................
by oompa in....i am so frikkin obsessed about the jw lies and my newfound truths about them, and it is prob driving me crazy or causing depression.....if i wake up in the middle of the night, i never get back to sleep as my mind starts racing about jw crap and how it affects my marriage, and then how can i make this marriage work with her such a hardcore dub....i told my wife i now realize i am an abusive husband.....i must stop talking to her about the real truth!!
!..........it is killing her inside and we have had soooo many bad discussions that turn into arguments......on top of that she says she is now closer to jah and the org than at any other time in her life, that now that she has no positive direction from me, she relies totally on jehovah and prays to him more than ever..... we talked about separation, and that i was going to lose her over our religious differences........i feel so sorry for what i have put her through, and i know that if i can not really shut up with my ohsohelpful comments of truths about this truth she will leave me due to "spiritual endangerment".......and she said she is damm close to that happening.....i told her i knew it to and would so hate to lose her due to our religious differences.
at my recent shepherding call, they said to try and stop focusing on the negatives i have found in jw, and focus on the good things...and that is not a bad idea even if i never go back to meetings....there are good things about dubs....the efforts at ending racism and at least for me, some really good lifelong friends.......even their hope for the future was pretty good to me, even though it is a bunch of crap and i no longer believe the bible is gods word or inspired.....it does have some good suggestions for a happy life and ideas as to how to treat others........but so do just about every holy book of other faiths........ i had plans to start going to some meetings with my wife, but today, after a sleepless night i told her i just dont think i can do it, and just as she strongly believes it is the truth, i do not, and that i think the guys on the gb are not led by holy spirit cause if she will read the proclaimers book, she will see we have never gotten a single bible inerpretation of prophecy correct.......so she says "so what is there?

I feel for you! My wife and I used to argue about it to no end. She once told me the only reason she'd ever leave me is if I became an apostate. Well I did, and she didn't. I got lucky, I convinced her to read CoC; and the rest was history.
I wish I had some good advice for you but I don't.
Start living your life for you. Focus on becoming the best man you can become. If you love the outdoors, then go enjoy the outdoors. If you allow your disgust for the JW's to turn you bitter and mean spirited you're only feeding her cult mindset. Remember we apostates are supposed to me "mean and evil."
You have to find some way to rise above it, find a way to detach. Find some peace man, you deserve it! Have you sat down and meditated on your life without your wife? I've been separated from my wife, it sucks hardcore but you can do it!

Left the WT but why the contuinued faith in an invisible God?
by donny inok, now here's a question for the other side.
when you finally discovered enough information that resulted in your leaving the watchtower bible and tract society's organization, what convinced you that you just needed to replace it with a better more believanle version instead of questioning the whole concept of an invisible god?.
is it that you find the idea of no afterlife to hard to deal with?

My personal belief is that most people are unable to deal with the concept of only existing for 80 years or so. Our minds are so egocentric that we believe we deserve more than that, we deserve eternity. Deeper than that, we believe that in some way we are special, and so we create God in our image. A god like us would love us, and see just how special we are; just how deserving of eternal life we are.
It took me a long time to accept that this life is all I've got. Once I did, everything became so much sweeter. For me, life is now about experiences. When I lay on my death bed I will have no regrets. I will look back on my 80 years and know that I enjoyed them as fully as possible!

Memorial Problem
by InTheSpotlight inlooks like a good place to get info and share ideas.. o.k.
my first question:.
i am a christian.
-
jeeprube
I am a Christian. Never been a JW but interested in trying to better understand these people and reach them.
If the man who wrote the Aid to Bible Understanding book couldn't reach them, what chance do you have? The minute you partake of the emblems you'll be dismissed in their minds. Understand this, from the moment you walk in the front door the goal of every JW in the room will be to convert you. Heck, your very PRESENCE at the Memorial event will be a small form of validation for them.
Good luck bro!

Global Tilting
by John Doe inmy friends, we are in a precarious condition that worsens by the minute and shows no signs of relenting.
that's right folks, global tilting.
not many people know about global tilting, but it is the angle produced when an imaginary rod is rammed through the center of the globe's rotation and an angle relationship taken between that rod and an arbitrary "up.

New Degree Field: Master's Degree in Creationism.
by BurnTheShips inbill would allow texas school to grant master's degree in science for creationismwednesday, march 18, 2009 .
by nora zimmett.
a texas legislator is waging a war of biblical proportions against the science and education communities in the lone star state as he fights for a bill that would allow a private school that teaches creationism to grant a master of science degree in the subject.

What a great idea, this may be your best cut and paste article ever BTS! I wonder what science based courses will be required for this degree path? Obviously you couldn't expect a true creationist to take biology, chemistry, physics, or calculus courses; as those types of classes involve critical thinking and reasoning skills.
Perhaps in place of such courses they will substitute Ark Building, Carbon Dating on a 6,000 year scale, Dinosaurs as Lizards, Theocratic Science, and How Would Jesus Do Calculus?
Good luck getting a job with a Masters in Creationism.
