I fly-fish, kayak, backpack, mountain bike, and ride my 4-wheeler. Oh, I also drink whiskey and smoke cigars in my down time.

Star Trek: New Voyages
by XJW4EVR inlast night, the mrs. and i were priviledged to have been invited to see the premier of star trek: new voyages in beverly hills.
this is a fan film, but it is not your ordinary fan film.
though many of the actors are amateurs, the writing, filming and cgi were first rate.

in the beginning... When did you realise it was the truth ?
by AlphaOmega insorry to do this... and apologies to minimus for pinching his posting style .
a jw friend of mine was speaking about the moment that witnesses "realise that it's the truth".
they didn't say anymore... so i guess that they feel there is a pattern ??.

Probably the second or third time my Mom beat me with a belt and screamed "It's the Truth!"

I Raced For Life For DANSK!
by Fe2O3Girl inhttp://www.raceforlife.org/allaboutus/the weather was lovely, not too warm, and there was plenty of shade along the course.
i managed to end up right at the back of the field, so i passed the start line about 3 minutes after the start of the race.
i completed the 5k in 43 minutes, which i was really pleased about as it took ages to get past the walkers and get onto some clear road to jog.

We Are Dying!
by WeAreDying-Ophelia inthis is my first post and might be my only post, not sure.
i've chosen to "come out" for a moment just to talk about the 30 minute change in the public talk on sundays.
my father and brother are both elders, this change was a blow to them they enjoy giving encouraging public talks to the friends.

Welcome to the board Ophelia!
From your posts I see that you have experienced here what I discovered two years ago....surprise. These are not the evil people we have been warned about, instead they are full of love and understanding.
I know how you feel, for I have felt the same. Unfortunately, within the organization there is very little room for questions. What you are going through is something most here have experienced, an awakening. It can be both beautiful and painful.....many of us, myself included, have lost our families because of our questions.
I wish you the best in your journey.
May Jehovah bless you!

with book, bag and bible in hand are now singing the blues.
these former jehovahs witnesses, who would annoy a man and his.

My answer would be that I was born into the religion, and "trained" in my formative years to believe it was the only truth. I didn't have a chance.

Shunned
by Anti-Christ injust wanted to share something with you all.
about a month ago i call my very active jw father and ask him a few questions about an awake article (the famous one oct 8 1968) and about the "obedience and submission" article and to call me back and give me some information.. well he did not call back and friday my sister in law calls me and tells me that some jw are saying i am an apostate.
i ask were did they get that from ( because i have not talk to any jw about my findings, except my dad) and to my surprise she said my dad.

I've had several similar conversations with my mother, so I know what kind of pain and abandonment you're feeling. If anybody should know that you are a good person, it's your parents. When I first expressed my doubts to my mother it was amazing to see how quickly her love turned to hatred. I went from being her son to being her enemy within five minutes, I've been a JW my entire life, and I still did not expect this kind of visceral reaction.
Seeker is right about the house of cards, and I believe the GB realizes this. That is why they work so hard to control the minds of their followers. Once you see that just one JW belief is false the entire belief system collapses.
I try to tell myself that my mother cannot control herself, that she has been trained to react like she does; but, that it still hurts to lose your family because you just don't believe their way anymore.

A time for war at the family reunion-this apostate don't take crap!
by dawg ini just finished another of my famous letters i send to many of my family members... i've been told that i shouldn't come to the family reunion becasue i'm an apostate.
in my letter i stated that i in fact am going to be there stupid watchtower quotes in hand.
the first family member that shuns me will hear me read off every stupid statement that they've ever made... i said that i'm also bringing my bible and that i want someone in the family to show me in it where it states that i don't have the right to question the dictates of men and by my so doing i should be shunned!.
