Do you legally join the WatchTower Society ?
by Simon inthere has been some discussion in the past on whether people became legal members of the watchtower society or not when they got baptised and whether this was made clear to them.
the wt argues that you are or are not a legal member as it suits them.. here is a thought.... on their website's privacy statement at http://www.watchtower.org/contact/privacy.htm (linked from the 'request contact' form) they say:.
will the watchtower society disclose the information it collects to outside parties?.

A holiday for you with ex-jw's
by Celtic inif any ex-witnesses are interested in a long weekend holiday / vacation to cornwall, uk, i am organising for august just such a break designed with you in mind.. it is intended that this will give quite a few of us a time to relax and meet others who have been through a similar situation.. camping is obviously the cheapest option and usually the most fun.
activities included will be many and varied including surfing, rugged clifftop walks, quaint pubs and watering holes, dopey smokes, sailing, stunning, amazing scenery you name it, its your holiday, i can organise it.. reaching out not just to the uk but also to our international friends, we can maybe extend towards one week.. if any of you are interested please post a reply to see what the response is like.
disabilities can be catered for, no problem.. more details will be posted shortly.

Simple meditation
by Introspection ini'm sure everybody has heard of the potential benefits of meditation, but no doubt fewer has actually tried it, and fewer still practice it.
as jws we're taught that if you meditate you empty the mind and invite demons in, but this is simply not true.
for one thing, even the watchtower talks about meditating on bible principles.

Re:Did /Do Elders enjoy power/control
by ladonna inwhen i think back to being in the wtbts i can vividly remember the elders and their weilding of power.. as an adult, and in hindsight, i can now look back in total distaste and disgust at the power and control these men exercised over our lives with 'apparent' enjoyment.. i would like any former or current elders to explain the actual feelings you had when exercising this control.. was it exhilirating?
or was it painful?.
i would also like responses from non elders as to how you actually felt on the other end of this control situation.. la donna ana
