Should I stay or should I go?

hello everyone, i haven't posted anything on here for a while and today i just really felt like i needed to get my thoughts together.

(if you don't know me please read some of my previous posts).

so pretty much not much has changed in my life, i'm still living with my parents and going to all the meetings and service.

I know many young people who have little to no support from family and are going to college or trade school. Will they have debt? yes, but they also have freedom of mind while doing so, they have the freedom to choose to go to college or learn a trade. A few of these kids work on campus and work as advisers to be able to stay in the dorms without getting an apartment. No, they don't really like being seniors with babysitting jobs (immature freshmen) but it pays the bills so to speak.

There are also many great online colleges & degrees if you do some research on it.

At some point won't your jw parents try to tell you that you are spending too much time on college/homework anyway?

If you continue going door to door will you be able to live with yourself if actually managed to bring somebody into this insidious cult knowing what you know now?

Lots of places are hiring seasonal workers right now, in fact I have not been in one store/restaurant etc... that has not had a help wanted sign up. Might not be your dream job but if it helps you to achieve your goals why not?

It is not your responsibility to keep the family together and in agreement. Your job is to live your life. Part of becoming an adult is knowing that you cannot make everybody happy. Your parents and extended family have all made their choices, now it is your turn.

i often wondered how far back the witnesses had been involved with my family.

my grandmother died at the end of 2013 and while going through her photos we found some of my great-grandmother, dora, who was born in 1901 and died in 1994. there is a photo of dora dated 1946 standing outside her house in east riding, yorkshire.

on the back of the photo her husband had written "in a human moment before jehovah grabbed her".. my great grandfather, who died before i was born, did not like the witnesses.

Bought My First Christmas Tree Last Night

last year i didn't bother with christmas as it still felt like a "nothing" day to me (thanks watchtower!).

this is the 2nd christmas since waking up and leaving the cult and i've finally bought my first christmas tree:).

i have no idea what to do with it though.

Confusion with 'Message of Judgement'

there has been some discussion regarding the change in the jws message so i thought i would have a listen to the recent annual meeting to try to get an idea as to why the jws are not clear on the matter, once again.

it's strange that the annual meeting hasn't been put on jw org tv to date.it looks like the confusion stems from a talk given by tight pants tony and i've written out a part of that talk.

his talk was titled 'making our blows count'.

I am hoping the message of judgement is against the jw's! Maybe they need to look to their own before worrying about the rest of us. damn hypocrites.

Work Christmas functions: Being a Bible Student (unbaptized)

hi all,i have been studying with the witnesses for more than 6 months and regularly attend both midweek & weekend meetings, and i am nearly at the end of the "bible teach" book.

my boss is adamant i attend team christmas functions.

she knows about my studying and potential baptism next year, and has suggested that i attend and just not participate in activities like kris kringle.

Rulhayl, my husband joined this so called religion later in life, believe me when I and others here tell you that you are NOT getting the full picture while in 'publisher' mode.

You should decide if you should follow mere men or your God given brain in the following (and these are just a few)-

how you dress & wear your make up, shoes (no toe cleavage, no kidding)

how you can have sex with your spouse

who you can associate with

what holidays (or not) you can celebrate

if you will kill yourself and loved ones with the ungodly blood policy

if you can read the Bible by yourself

if you can have opinions about the Bible and have discussions with fellow members even if they disagree with the governing body of jw's

if you can research history that disagrees with the watchtower and discuss with others

if you will shun someone and treat them like crap because why? well, hell you don't need to know why, you just shun someone because we said you should.

if you will slowly begin to shun your own family and friends because they are not jw's and you will not even see yourself doing this and then you will justify it with jw reasoning

if you are allowed to research the history of the watchtower

if you will also protect a pedophile because the jw's have asked you to so there is no 'reproach' upon the organization. You may even be asked to go to court and tell the court what great guy/girl the pedophile is.'

if you will spend every Sat knocking on doors to tell them about a website

and on and on I could go, this is just a start.

If you continue with the jw's without researching it WILL change your life forever and not for the best. You could end up spending years in a therapist room dealing with PTSD, emotional, physical and spiritual abuse issues. Not to mention dealing with the guilt of what you have done to your friends family and how you treated them once you realize this is not the 'truth' but a man made cult.

You do not become a better person or learn any 'truths' about God becoming a watchtower follower, how could you? you are too busy with nonsensical busy work going in fs and meetings towing the company line and putting your friends and family second (if that) do learn anything of value.

Do some research!

is that no reason to increase our activity?… reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service.

It could just be excess building materials/dirt but doesn't it kind of look like a volleyball sandpit behind one of the tennis courts?

Poisonous chicken

last night my wife prepared dinner.

chicken and veg.

as she was cooking the chicken it gave off the most vile smell.

A Little Direction Please

i'm an active elder, cobe, just got home from the meeting where i handled the treasures part and concluded by announcing a friend of mine has been d/f,.....blah blah blah...and over the last year have woken up.

i simply cannot spill my guts to my wife and children as it would be family suicide.

i have zero desire to bash, spread my feelings, or become an "apostate".

In need of your advice. November broadcasting 2017

so my mum asked me to watch the broadcast and to my astonishment i got through it without smashing my screen haha.. so i let her know what liars they are for saying they would never deliberately distort a quotation.. she is ok for me to give her some printouts of watchtower material where this has in fact happened, contry to what they say.. where should i start and what would be your best link, or way to approach this.

i think this is a good opportunity of waking her up, if she can see that the broadcast has lied to her, she won't be happy.. any advice is you can give is so appreciated.. thanks everyone..

Faded for almost 10 years and still getting random calls

hi all, just wondering if anyone is in the same boat.

wifey and i dropped off the face of the jw planet almost a decade ago and still get 3 or 4 visits a year mostly when we are not dressed or expecting visitors.

it's really annoying because we are both wondering why they don't get the hint already.. we don't want to move because we really enjoy where we live and both have careers that keep us in the area.. i've asked politely that they stop calling but like the "godfather" they keep "pulling me in.".

Just send in your cease & desist letter (maybe with your Christmas card? ha, just kidding) the letter really does go back to the elders in your area and you will become a do not call. You will not have to talk to anybody from the cong. You might have to send it next year too because they only consider it good for one year. Unless you are like me and get mad as hell when they knock then you will be a do not call for all time. (I didn't think I should have to send a letter each year but that is another topic)
